Holy crap! If you saw the preview for this, you know this is definitely going to be scary! No camp songs this time at Camp Tiki Barber!! (Those who saw Bounty Hunters! will get that). Shawn and Gus investigate a camp counselor disappearance near abandoned camp grounds. Justine Bateman (Family Ties) guest stars as Lassiter long talk about wife, Victoria! Steve Franks and James Roday wrote this with James also directing this episode. How ironic that this is airing on Friday the 13th and the new version of Friday the 13th hits movie theaters on Friday the 13th!
DeepPoet117
James must have a thing for horror movies. First he wrote Scary Sherry and in the commentary he kept talking about the gruesome ways they thought up for her to die, and now from the preview last night, this episode looks pretty scary. I hope it's not too scary. I much prefer comedy to horror.
chocolatecolumbo
I hate scary movies. I guess i'm going to be watching this one hiding under my pillow
sarcasmlove
Oh yeah, James is a total horror movie buff. He loves them. I can't even explain how excited I am for this episode. I love everything he writes, but I am so so excited to see how he directed everything. The promo that aired last night, I jumped up and down laugh.gif

I totally agree! I can't wait for this episode!!! I like when they show something you're not used to seeing on Psych and I love how they make special episodes to go along with events( for example they made a football episode bacause of the Superbowl and now they made a scary episode for Friday the 13th)
I know that there are going to be people who are gonna hate this episode because it's scary and they think that Psych should remain funny. Although, if you are one of those people, don't give up on the episode just yet. This is probably a one-time thing and the writers are having fun. Also, some of the funniest Psych moments have happened when Shawn and Gus were scared laugh.gif

anyway, can't wait!! The last two episodes of this season are going to be intense and i'm soo excited!!
6 more days!!!
Psychictravelingblueberry
I cant wait!!
All of the ones James writes are *ahmazing*!!
and I love the scary/comedy mix!!
Sounds exciting!! wink.gif

actually it's camp tiki-hama. i sort of like horror if it's balanced w/ humor or romance. since i have a few friends hooked i might have a pscary psych pslumber party! laugh.gif

When they first started showing the preview, I was wondering if it was a new horror movie coming out, then I saw Shawn and Gus and was like OMG! That looks SOOOO cool! I'm so excited I can't even say. It looks amazing. I hope it is super scary and crazy. Shawn in danger woohoo!

And I just (re)watched Bounty Hunters! that morning, so it was especially funny. Anyone know where I can watch the preview again?
butch
isn't the B story about Lassie and the mrs?

LivStrong
For everyone who is worried about the "scaryness" of this episodde,
i think you can rest assured that its not really going to be that scary.

i personally didnt get really spooked in scary sherry... well at one point i almost cried cuz i thought juliet was going to kill someone... haha.... but thats the thing... its not really scary... its like a parody of horror movies.
(( um hello? she got killed by a toaster! ))

i have a feeling that this episode might be "scary" but its gonna be your typical "OMG dont open the door!"
type stuff. its sposed to make you laugh.

cant wait to see how it turns out tho! james writing and directing! i'm so proud ! haha.

and yes, the B storyline is about lassiter trying to get back together with his wife (justine bateman)
DeepPoet117
Well of course Scary Sherry wasn't scary. But the previews of this new episode look creepy. I hope it's along the lines of Scary Sherry because that's one of my favorites.
USAophile
well the directors said that the episode turned out way scarier then they intended/expected and that if there are small children watching, that they probably shouldn't watch this episode. Hearing that made me even more excited for the episode!!!!

I was thinking that same thing. It's probably intentional. I'm a huge horror buff and I can't wait to see this episode. I've loved all the episodes that James has written and I'm very eager to see how his directing skills play out. So far, I've been good at staying spoiler free about this episode. I don't want to ruin any of the surprises that may pop up.

SQUEE!!! Do you have any idea how excited you just made me? I am so excited for this! Friday the 13th is like a second Halloween. tongue.gif

I also cannot wait to finally see Mrs. Lassiter.

That guy reminds me of the guys in the movie "The Visitors"!

And yes I know it is Camp Tikihama, but Shawn called it Camp Tiki Barber!

There are not words in any language to express my excitement...so I shall make one up...AHHH!!!!!! SQUABOBBLE!!!!! laugh.gif

I'm super excited about this episode! I'm not really a fan of scary movies but I think the episode looks good, anyway. I hope that Lassie doesn't get back with his wife, and they're just tying up loose ends with his divorce. After hearing about how Lassie was the one who was trying to fix their problems for a year(I think that's how long...it's said in Earth to Starbucks) I feel like him getting back together with her would be unfair to him, almost. Jeez, I'm not explaining that well, but I hope someone understands what I'm getting at. huh.gif
OnceInABlueMoon
*waves* I'm a new poster, but a long-time lurker. I also happen to LOOOOVE Psych.

w00t, I am so looking forward to this episode! I love scary stuff (though not as much as my sis), so I hope this one has a mixture of scary and comedy (teehee, there's nothing better than that).
ChocolateThunder
Whoa. The picture of the Yin Yang (speaking of which, does anyone know who will guest star as him?) guy chasing Shawn reminds me exactly of my summer camp, Camp Newaygo. The cabins look exactly the same as those for younger kids.

I was watching the preview, and to no one in paritcular, I said, "God, I hate horror movies!" And then I see Shawn and Gus screaming like little girls and laugh, and shout, "NEVERMIND!" =D I'm so excited, I can't wait to see how James Roday helped direct!

in that picture neither of Shawn's feet are on the ground ...it's like he floating in mid-air

or better yet like one of those cartoons where they raise in the air and their feet get going before they do and then they drop down and off they go.... laugh.gif
bigkitty_4
Wow! We are only a day away, and I can't wait! I rewatch Scary Sherry this week. I laugh at Goochberg and got creep out again by Alice Bundy. Can I predict what tv rating this episode be? Hmm.. TV14 with V. Gee. I can't wait!

Hulu is saying they'll having a week delay on this ep. Does anyone know if USA's video player will have that delay?
And since I'll have to wait at least until Saturday (I can't watch it tonight sad.gif ), someone HAS to tell me how scary it was. I'll probably watch it anyway, but I'd rather know ahead of time. wink.gif I hate horror stuff, but some scary is okay - and I'd assume since Psych is pretty much "family fare" that they wouldn't have anything too bad in it ...
MarthanotGeorge
Yes USA will have the delay as well. For this episode and next week's season finale.

I just squint and watch horror things through my eyelashes. Same thing for vacuuming up bugs. It works.
SpencerFan
Aw man! lol I guess I'll be waiting a week to see it, then. Oh well. dry.gif

usually the A story and the B story have some connection - makes one wonder how the "Friday the 13th" story and the Lassie and the mrs have in common

This episode wins at life already laugh.gif

Holy smokes, that's Justine Bateman?? She looks so different! I never would have recognized her.

Love Jules and her take-charge attitude (and Shawn NOT hiding in the closet). smile.gif

ETA: Ooh, serious Shawn-Juliet sexual tension going on there! I'm a happy camper!
sford
Clive (the "funny" one) made a reference about tag teams Shawn might hate, I completely missed it.
Anyone catch it?
Linfone
This episode's Psych Out is classic. biggrin.gif

Who is the chick that played Annie? Sissy? They're both kinda cute.
Now I'm having a Gus moment.
Psych1
I was disappointed with tonight's episode. I love Psych because it's funny. This horror thing-okay I could take it for a minute, but the serious scenes are making me not want to watch. Also, we get it. He likes Juliette and they're dating in real life. Do we have to endure that too? Get back to the funny!!
darlinrose16
wow ....so my heart is just about breaking for lassie!!!! =X

never seen so much emotion from lassie --when he made that " letting go of you speech"??? I teared up. --phenomenal acting/ writing.

&&that music to go along with it when she walked out?! seriously psych writers? way to step up their game in the drama & angst department ....simply amazing.<3

----
the shawn and juliet interaction has once again kept me smiling ear to ear, I loved her reaction when he called her fine...adorable. --for some reason she always seems surprised when he complements her...haha silly, jules.<3

LOVE how worried they both were about each other going out into danger, so sweet & the last scene with him thanking her....him of course finding a way to flirt with her even then, haha.=)

-----

the funny moments were also right on point as usual.

shawn's scream =) awesome.

" he was my father."
" ...of course he was"

---
so to sum up my ramble?
...this episode kind of sort of totally kicked ass.<333333333

OH MY GOSH that was amazing, so amazing. loved it. the end was hilarious (and the psych out, even funnier) but for most of the episode I was actually in suspense. I like the false resolution in the middle and basically how campy and stereotypical the murders were, because they kept referring to slasher movies so it really worked. I'm still all goosebumpy. James definitely found success in his directorial debut. and OMG NEXT WEEK looks soooo good and so personal for Shawn. I love when James gets to show off his serious acting chops and all the heightened emotion makes for great Shules interaction.

I didn't get it either. But I have a feeling I missed a ton of references in this episode, because I've never seen the Friday the 13th movies. Too chicken. smile.gif Still, I thought this episode was excellent. Lots of twists, great humor, and FANTASTIC Shawn/Jules interaction. I loved it when he was trying to be all brave to impress her. So adorable!

And Lassie's speeches were just sweet. Who knew he could be such a romantic!
sarcasmlove
So before I come back later with my really long and in depth review, I just have to say that James did an amazing job with tonight's episode. The shots he captured were absolutely amazing. It was really exciting to see James' vision of that show. It really was a pleasure to watch. He's really talented and I just loved every minute of it. And to Tim, well that just broke my heart. Well played Tim, well played.

I enjoyed the show tonight, except for the boyfriend, girlfriend thing. I didn't know they were dating in real life. I wish I still didn't know.
I hope they don't date on the show. I will quit watching. I don't like any of the police on this show. Get rid of them and let the 2 young men do the work of finding the killers with out the weird cops.
Brak3113
Yeah that episode pretty much was awesome. Btw, does anybody know who played that chick that was with Gus the whole episode & turned out to be engaged at the end?

...thats one of the things that is so amazing about psych ...it can't be classified as a comedy or drama.

the writers are FANTASTIC at balancing the funny with the serious scenes ...c'mon shawn's scream? his little banter with gus after he threw him the pole?

it makes the show & characters more real ... as well it being great for the actors to grow & to broadcast their talent.

james is aaaamazing in front of the camera and now we have another taste of his writing skills & behind the camera talent.

& the shawn and jules interaction? whether you like them as a t.v couple or not...it's important to developing their characters.

...the show would have no substance if it was just the constant silly.
kusa23
Going to bed soon....will rewatch and rereview....but I can already say BEST EPI I'VE SEEN FROM THIS SHOW EVER!!!!!

Massive Kudos to Everyone involved!!!! Loved the opening gag murder!!!! Amazed by the 'just cruising the edge of horror' real murder, and last but CERTAINLY not least, Lassiter/Tim's performance was spot ON!!!!

Beautiful!!!!

More to come (maybe a pinch less gushie.....nah...probably not....biggrin.gif)
