I'm a relative newcomer to the show so I apologize if this is "Old stuff" to you all.
What is the joke about the Pineapples in the Psych episodes - and where and when did it start?
Thank you in advance!!!

It started in the Pilot episode (the very first episode), when James Roday (who plays Shawn), saw a prop pineapple and threw in a line, holding the pineapple up and saying "Should I slice this up for the road?"
Even since that first episode, the produces, actors, and props (I would guess), try to make sure a pineapple is somewhere in most of the episodes. There are episodes without any pineapples, but most have at least one if not multiple pineapples. Sometimes, when they can't get a pineapple (or pineapple picture/prop) in the episode, they will mention pineapples... such as in Forget Me Not where they mention double-chocolate pineapple mango scones. The pineapples can also come as pineapple flavored smoothies or pineapple flavored jelly beans.
Now they've made it into the contest and they have a video of the cast and crew talking about what they think the pineapples mean. It's just a fun thing about Psych.

virtally every episode has a pineapple item in it.
actual pineapples (whoel or chunked), a shirt with pineapples on it, pineapple shaped swizzle sticks, pineapple upside down cake made in an easy baked oven, pineapple smoothies, picture of a pineapple etc

I guessed that it was a running gag but had wondered where it all started. WOW! I didn't know that it went all the way back to the pilot
Thank you both!

A collective WTF is in order - a certain Mr Luca Zaia, the Minister of Agriculture of Italy, said this last week:
"I prefer the dishes of my native Veneto.
I even refuse to eat pineapple.”
