I remember not too long ago that people would like to see a future musical episode of Psych. That sounds like a great idea, so my question is: who should write the music and "libretto" (that is, the script) for the episode?

My suggestion: Sparks.

Their lyrics are among the wittiest things around, and their most recent albums almost read like musicals - or rock operas. Plus, their melodic licks and riffs are so appealing.

Take this, for example, which could be described as their signature song, "This Town Ain't Big Enough".

I can very well imagine Shawn and Lassie settling one of their quibbles through this particular song (with different lyrics, of course).

I don't know Sparks, but I like the idea of a musical episode. We know from the Psych Outs that they all like to sing!

OMG! That is so freaky... I was thinking the same thing a while back. A musical would be great, just like that Buffy episode when everyone was cursed and couldn't stop singing. I can imagine shawn having his psychic vibes in a song and dance!

On the other hand, I think Lassie's and Shawn's quibbling would be better suited to the melody of "Photoshop".

I can imagine the choruses for both Lassie and Shawn.

I know! I love that episode. There was also a musical Scrubs episode as well. Psych as a musical? Hmmm, I just don't know. During a musical for a detective show has failed. Have you ever heard of Cop Rock?

Good point. I guess one easy way to suspend disbelief for this kind of episode is to have it as a dream sequence - that eventually provides the key clue to a real-world crime (one that has everyone stumped in the meantime). And for such an off-beat show, you gotta have off-beat (80s-style) music and lyrics.

I can't really imagine a full musical episode. I think the most musical-esque it will get will be like American Duos. However... I can totally all of them getting up onto a table and singing La Vie Boheme from Rent.
