From the original promos, I thought that this new CBS show was going to be a Psych rip-off. I was wrong. It is actually not a bad show. Simon Bakers character is very quirky and entertaining.

Good show but it really is a Psych ripoff.
Both feature an intelligent person with a keen sense of observation who uses "other powers" to solve crimes
Its acctually nearly the same thing as Psych but more serious in its tone whereas Psych is more upbeat and humourous on various occations.

Yeah, I have and if you watch the AFC Championship Game like our household did last night (my husband is a big Steelers fan) CBS had to remind its viewers that this program was following the game! Simon Baker is only good thing about this show. Now, it will have to watch their back because FOX is putting on show call Lie to Me, which according to Matt Roush, has a stronger supporting cast than The Mentalist. It is about a guy, played by Tim Roth, who knows if people are lying or not.

well I've never seen it, but good show or not, it's still a ripoff of Monk and Psych (the Psychness comes from the powers of observation so good, he once pretended to be psychic. the Monk comes from the unsolved murder of his wife)

the show isn't that bad but it definatly is modeled after Psych. it really annoyed when i asked someone if they have seen Psych and they replied "is it that show like the Mentalist". i got really mad and said, "no, Psych is not like the Mentalist..the Mentalist is like Psych. Psych came first!!"

Next time that happens, here's what to do! Look up and say "Forgive them lord for they know not what they say!"

My life is pretty much Mentalist free except for the commercials and the couple of seconds I happen to catch before I change the channel. The snippets I have seen have not made me curious enough to watch a full episode. Besides I don't have the time to devote to another show, the original is always better and Psych came first. IMO
