I just read on Dogster that PETA is urging USA not to air the Westminister Dog Show!!! I strongly disagree with PETA about most things. They way overstate their so called protests about the treatment of animals. A lot of the dogs on the show are raised in loving families and I have never heard nor seen any of them that have health issues. On the contrary, they all look very healthy!!!! I have never liked PETA and never will. I love all animals, especially our dogs and cats. We have a Brittiany, Doxie, and a yorkie/affenpincher cross. We always have our dogs spayed or nutured as we are not in the puppy business. I look forward to seeing this dog show and all the others held around the country every year. So please keep it on the air this year and in the years to come.
Thanks for reading. I realize I am only one voice, but I hope others will be responding to this outrageous demand by PETA!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,

Gail,
I agree completely. I know responsible dog breeders, handlers and owners. Most are some of the greatest dog lovers in the world. They work diligently to have their dogs tested for genetic anomalies and to make sure those are not perpetuated through the breed. Many bring dogs in from other countries in order to expand the genetic pool, not narrow it. Most show dogs live in loving homes as pets and are very well cared for. I have been to shows and watched the loving care of these animals.

I strongly urge USA to keep the Westminster Show! For many of us who love dogs, this is an opportunity to see our favorite breeds at their best. Also, going back over previous shows and just listening to the information given about the dogs, their homes, their work as therapy and Good Citizen dogs should be evidence enough that this wonderful program does so much for our communities in terms of showing what dogs can do above and beyond being in the ring.

I have dealt with PETA through another setting and their opinions are often skewed and not based upon reliable information. Before USA executives make a decision to cancel their showing of Westminster, I encourage them to research the facts on their own. They will find that PETA chooses to use information in a distorted manner.
