We love Psych and watch every episode as a family. However, did they lose a writer between the end of last season (in September) and the start of the new season this past Friday? Half the charm of this series is the humor and it wasn't funny for the first time. The story premise about sea lions was fine but the show itself was missing this important element. Please hire back the writer if that's the case!

We'll still be watching every episode though ... : )

Umm... the writer of this episode to which you are referring (Titled "Six Feet Under the Sea") is Steve Franks, the writer and creator of the entire series. So it is interesting you thought it was missing something, as there is no one who knows or writes the series better than Steve.

Steve does his job well, imo. I thought this plot was more indepth and meticulous from other episodes they've done, which is expected. I mean, the cast and writers are really talented so they've gotta raise the bar when it comes to the storylines so the cast and audience doesn't get bored. One thing I enjoyed this episode was the fact that the guest star wasn't the bad guy, so I liked that element because usually the person they bring in is going to be nefarious.

It's actually still the same season. They just put a hold on the season, then re-started it again.

I really don't see any difference in the writing.

Does James Roday write some eps too? Or does he just help Steve Franks?

James has co-written some episodes with Steve (Scary Sherry and American Duos for sure), but I can't think of any off the top of my head he has written alone. Not sure though... I'll check it out...

::checks it out::

Another co-write was Black and Tan. But none of the previously shown episodes were written by James alone. I know he is directing an upcoming episode, and I can't figure out if he helped write any of the upcoming ones...

Hope that helps!
