Thank you USA for maintaining our freedom to knowledge and to educating the public on responsible dog ownership.
The animal rights movement portrays itself simply as a group of people who are concerned with the mistreatment of animals. That's an easy position to sell in America where a large portion of population has pets. However, there is an undercurrent of violence, extremist positions, and even anti-human views that runs through the animal rights movement. People who are giving their money to these groups need to understand that it is used to push an agenda that is intended to severe completely the human animal bond. It is not to save wildlife or to protect domestic animals, but to eliminate all domestic animals.
Their Agenda has been planned and implemented by PETA, the ALF and the closely connected HSUS organizations which have misled people into believing they support animals. The goal is to eliminate all animals and the concept of companion animals or pets.
"We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of livestock produced through selective breeding. ...One generation and out. We have no problems with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding." -- Wayne Pacelle - Director of HSUS

The request by PETA to not show the Westminster Kennel Club show is a smear campaign that is intended to mislead the public. What people need to understand is that there is no human, animal or plant on this earth that does not carry some genetic abnormality. The only group that funds studies in reducing genetic abnormalities are the responsible dog breeders and their breed clubs in the US. The Westminster Kennel Club has for years presented the best results of responsible breeding every year. They educate the public into responsible dog ownership and have for years supported animal welfare laws. This is the only reason PETA wants this voice silenced.
Thank you for showing this educational program and I will look for it this spring.

Yes - PLEASE don't cave to these bullies with an extremist agenda. The goal is not a true interest in improving the health of dogs and other domestic animals - the goal is to ELIMINATE animal ownership all together.

The people who are trying to improve the health of dogs are the responsible breeders, and those that support them by getting their puppies from responsible breeders.

By and large, the type of breeder that is responsible will be interested in Westminster, and supporting dog shows in general.

You help promote the improvement in dogs by airing the show. So, again, PLEASE don't give in to these bullies!

Thank USA for televising the Westminster Dog show. My Daughters have grown up showing our Corgis and the highlight of our year was tuning in for those two special nights to watch the show. It didn't televise in Arizona until late and I always gave them special permission to stay up until Midnight on those two nights to get to see the whole thing. I have always enjoyed watching USA's broadcasting because they show the entire show. Not just the "favorites" like Animal Planet.

My girls have both shown in Junior Handling competition and one of their dreams have been to go to Westminster and get to be on TV. They say "someday I will get to run on the green carpet". Why would PETA think that our 4 Pembroke Corgis that are currently laying on our couch or at my feet, are suffering or ill treated? They all sleep in a bed with somebody each night "their choice", I can keep the gate open in my yard and they have a choice to run off, but they prefer my company or my family.

The dogs are not badly treated, too many people are around that love dogs at the show that would immediately turn someone in if they thought a dog was not being treated with respect. My dogs LOVE to show. If they see us packing suitcases and putting crates in the car, they lose their minds. They get to play every morning on the show grounds and go for a long walk at night after the show. We bring all their favorite toys, treats even bottled water from home.

Folks travel to shows in motorhomes so the dogs are in a vehicle with them at all times, to ensure they are not too hot or stressed. They pay high deposits to have dogs with them in Hotel rooms and order in room service so as not to leave the dogs unattended.

I have heard many a person say "when I die, I want to come back to life as a show dog".

Please don't spoil the wonderful tradition of broadcasting the Westminster Kennel Club show. Please think about all the wonderful families with their dogs by their sides watching on those two wonderful nights and dreaming that they someday will be there in person.

Thank you USA for showing Westminster Dog Show. PETA is a terrorist group. I'm both a military wife/daughter and a Dog Fancier. I show, care for and breed Basenjis. I recognize terror tactics when I see them. They (PETA) have been caught at dog shows in the USA letting people's precious dogs out of their crates...endangering their lives. Please don't cave into their terror tactics. I can't believe that the BBC has let such people convince them that dog shows are cruel. Most people in the fancy would rather starve than see their dogs suffer.

I only have one more request. Please don't cut the Basenji during a commercial break. We realize our breed isn't as popular as the beagles or bassets, but we love our dogs too.

I have recently learned of PETA's campaign to stop the Westminster broadcast.

The Westminster Kennel Club, as well as all serious kennel clubs and dog
breeders in America, represent (despite PETA's views) the best hope for
dogs. These breeders cultivate only the best in their breed, making sure
to breed out any genetic or other related health issues. They spend large
amounts of money on testing and diagnostics, making sure that the dogs
they breed will live healthy lives. Responsible breeders only breed when
they know they can guarantee loving families, who have been screened, for
their dogs. They make sure that families know exactly what they are
getting into, and offer guidance throughout the life of the dog. These
same breeders are passionately involved in breed rescue, and often take in
unwanted dogs to avoid seeing their beloved breed(s) in a shelter.

The Westminster Kennel Club and Show also strives to emphasize the cause
of adoption, and to focus national attention on the plight of dogs
suffering from irresponsible human choices. Additionally, it displays the
best of dogs to a national audience - dogs loved and cared for by their
people, and dogs - like the Angel on a Leash program - that are spreading
love and hope in the human community through services like canine therapy
in hospitals.

For two nights in February, Wesminters brings national attention to what
responsible dog ownership and care looks like! Thanks USA Networks, for bringing us this great show!

Finally, shall we discuss the errant ways of PETA? When breed rescue
organizations went in to save the pit bulls brutalized by Michael Vick,
PETA CONDEMNED their efforts, saying it would be "more humane" to simply
euthanize all the dogs! Unfortunately for PETA, the efforts of the
dedicated breed rescue groups have paid off, and all but 3 of the dogs
have been placed in families and have made remarkable progress, and now
enjoy loving homes. PETA clearly needs to get its facts straight - in a
misguided attempt to publicize the plight of dogs in shelters, it is
abusing the very group of dedicated people who are trying to keep dogs healthy and OUT
of shelters in the first place!
