Thanks to USA for offering Westminster every year. This show highlights people who love their dogs and want to do everything with them. And also talks about how to buy a healthy puppy and how to adopt dogs needing homes. Thanks, USA! smile.gif

Please continue to offer the Westminster Dog Show on your channel. Please don't cave into PETA pressure. Instead, use your coverage of the show (as you have in the past) to educate the public and to celebrate the relationship between people and their dogs.

We truly hope you do not listen to the rhetoric that PETA speaks regarding the dogs shown in the Westminster dog show.(LA Times article)
In our household we have a 12 year old junior handler who will be attending Westminster as an owner/junior for the 2nd year. .She/We dedicate(s) 12 months a year to her dogs and they are very well taken care of. We look forward to attending the show and also having our family all throughout the country being able to watch it on your network. Please continue to broadcast the tradition of one of the oldest competitions in this country.
Thank you

Westminster is the TV highlight of the winter at my house and among my friends. I breed and show basset hounds (3 litters in 10 years). I know where everyone of of those dogs lives and 4 of them are asleep on the couch as I write this. I am also active in rescue and am passionate about responsible breeding and responsible pet ownership. To the PETA folks I say that most folks who show dogs are not part of the rescue problem. We are very careful about how we breed, rear, and place puppies. There is a tremendous need for more education so that people wanting to adopt a pet know how to evaluate whether the breeder is ethical and the dog is sound. David Frey, a co-announcer at Westminster, does a terrific job of talking about what a buyer should look for. The show is a great opportunity to advance the cause of responsible breeding and pet ownership.

I am a huge fan of several of your shows, and I never miss Westminster! As a dog lover, I consider it my "Superbowl."

The Westminster Kennel Club show is more than just about the dogs that are being shown. It is a great opportunity for dog lovers, new and old, to learn more about the various breeds recognized by the AKC. It's a great place for prospective dog owners to narrow down their choices of breeds or types of dogs, and to learn what breeds might be best for their lifestyle and family. This, in turn, contributes to fewer mismatches between dogs and owners that can lead to owners surrendering dogs to rescues or shelters.

Keep up the good work! My calendar is marked for this year's airing of Westminster.

Please continue to air Westminster Dog Show, I have always watched it. It is still the highlight of the dog showing world and AKC dog breeds. It gives the public a view of each breed and some basic knowledge about each breed. Please do not listen to PETA as their claims to the dogs being shown are genetically faulted (LA Times article) is incorrect. The AKC determines the breed standard for each dog breed. Every dog breed has a "genetic fault" of some kind.

I agree 100%. We are tired of PETA trying to dictate to us whether we can or cannot have a pet. sad.gif

Please do not allow PETA to bully you into dropping your excellent coverage of the Westminster KC Dog Show. They will not rest until there are no more domestic dogs (or even animals) on the planet. Even their companion organization HSUS works toward a stated goal of One generation and out." Translation: no more dogs or cats in the near future. Someone has got to stand up to PETA to defend dogs and dog owners. USA could lead the fight. Please help. Continue your excellent live broadcast coverage, and perhaps even create original programing to expose the harm PETA & HSUS do to the American way of life.

Thank you USA Network for continuing to air the great Westminster Dog Show! I would not miss the airing of this show each year for anything. I enjoy seeing the beautiful animals that compete and I enjoy the education on the disposition of each breed along with comments about it being a good family pet or this breeds needs a lot of running space and more. I greatly appreciate the education that is given to the public about our beloved pet dogs.

Please know that PETA is not about ethical treatment of animals. They have all the right things to say and hundreds of thousands of well meaning people are duped into believing their cause, but just do a bit of study and you will see that they absolutely do NOT have the best interest of the animals at heart. In fact, quite the opposite. Please do not buy into their slick tactics of removing pets from our existence completely. So sad.

Again, thanks for airing the Westminster dog show. The dog show itself is the premier event of its kind in the US and the programming in the TV show is outstanding not only for admiring the most beautiful examples of each breed but educating people about their pets as well.

Yes, yes, yes to Westminster!

Thanks to USA Network for airing the Westminster Dog Show, and other animal-related topics. I am not sure how to get this started, but SOME "investigative reporter" that works for USA should really start looking into the TRUTH about these organizations such as PETA and HSUS (Humane Society of the United States). There are MILLIONS of Americans that love their pets so dearly that they don't want to hear of any other pets being abandoned or ill-treated. So, what do they do? These well-meaning people send their hard-earned money to these HOAX organizations, thinking they are helping animals. When, in fact, all these organizations REALLY want to do is take away ALL of our animals!!! They are NOT "humane societies", like your local shelters are (even tho they use NAMES that sound like it) - they are terrorists who's main aim is NO ANIMAL USE. Just go to petakillsanimals.com and you will see what I mean. I used to send them money, but once I found out that they really don't want any of us to own or care for an animal, I stopped. Its hard to know what organizations are the good guys, but one is at naiaonline.org and another is ncraoa.com. Do your own research, and mail letters to your local newspapers, TV and Radio stations - so the American pet lovers can understand the truth, and stop being part of the big SCAM. We love our animals, and love seeing them on TV - please don't let PETA and HSUS take them away from us. They are using YOUR money to lobby against you from local to national levels!!!

Please continue to offer the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. I make sure I am home every year to watch both days of this and also use it to teach my 4H dog club about the different breeds of dogs and how to care for them and the different things they can do with them. Showing the conformation and the jr showmanship gives the kids an idea of what they can do with their dogs, plus the ACE awards and the other segments of the show helps give them ideas of other things they can aim for, how to care for them, what dog breeds might fit their lifestyle and the care and grooming that goes into different breeds. Please don't cave in to pressure from certain groups to cancel the airing of this show.

Please continue to carry the Westminster show. It's a highlight for us !!

Thank you for offering the Westminster - I truly try to watch it every year with my dogs!! I wish there were more dog shows on the TV to watch and enjoy...I try to watch all I can on Animal Planet when available...
I have Australian Shepherds and love to see my breed shine along with the many other beautiful dogs...Please don't let PETA do this to you - I also raise, show and sell horses and PETA has made that business no longer a profitable one to be in now - Our market value has dropped and dropped to where a horse selling for $3000 5 years ago is now worth maybe $100 at a sale....they have ruined this industry - lets not let them do the same to all of us loyal dog lovers and breeders that do nothing wrong and take very good care of our animals and try to make a decent living or enjoy a hobby(part time now) doing what we love to do!!! They have managed to put a stop to all slaughter of horses in the USA and stopped the hauling of them elsewhere - now there are horses starving all over our country because people can not care for them or sell them for a decent price, so they turn them loose or tie them to trees and leave them there to starve and die....I want PETA to join forces and take in and care for ALL the horses that can no longer be taken of by their owners and let them pay to feed, doctor and board them and see why horses are starving...these beautiful animals deserve so much more, with all that they give to us - don't let them die!!! And don't let PETA do the same to the Canine industry....don't blame everyone for a few bad apples....the dogs we see on TV deserve to shine and show us what beautiful and talented animals they are...

Thank you so much for airing the Westminster Dog Show! It is SO important to millions of people around the world! This is one show that I refuse to miss. It is a joy to watch the inter-action between handler and dogs. These are dogs that truly enjoy having a "job" and showing off. I'm sure that all of us that work so hard to produce excellence and train our beloved pure-bred dogs agree that appreciate being able to see this show when we are unable to be there. I know that I do!
Thanks again!

I'd also like to thank you for broadcasting the Westminster Dog Show each year. It is an annual family gathering for my family to get together and watch the dog show. Thanks for allowing a family tradition to continue. Keep up the good work-maybe really get those cameramen to understand what it is that we want to see structurally on the dog as it is moving-chopping off legs doesn't help!
Please don't give in to any outside special interest groups who want to discourage your broadcasting of this historical event each year-I know they try to stop the Kentucky Derby, too, but the Derby goes on!

Please continue to air the showing of Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show - smile.gif a family favourite at my home and has been for many many years. The dogs that participate in this show are happy doing what they do - I firmly believe a happy dog is a busy dog. I breed and show Pomeranians, and they are all kept busy. Please don't let Peta or HSUS convince you that any of these dogs are not enjoying what they do. It would be a very sad world without our companion animals.

Thank you very much for airing the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! Please continue to do so in the future! I have enjoyed watching this show and others like it since childhood. The Westminster dog show has contributed to the furthering of my interests in pure bred dogs. I have always dreamed of one day being one of those exhibitors proudly showing my beautiful, healthy and beloved dog to the world. Having recently joined a local AKC conformation dog club, I have learned so much about responsible dog ownership, health issues and responsible breeding practices. And now that dream has come true to the extent that I am a proud exhibitor of my beautiful, healthy and beloved Miniature Pinscher! Who knows, maybe one day you will see me on TV on the USA Network aired Westminster Kennel Club dog show!

I want to add my thanks to USA Network for the excellent and professional job they do covering Westminster Kennel Club every year. As a former broadcast journalist and an exhibitor at Westminster both last year and this year, I have been thrilled with the quality of the job done by USA Network. Every aspect of the show is covered without obstructing or slowing down the show in any way. I too hope that USA will not cave in to the domestic terrorist activities of groups such as PeTA and HSUS as they work to take away OUR rights to OWN animals. For more information on these groups and others check out www.animalscam.com and www.naiaonline.org

It's not broken....don't fix it! Once again, the tail is trying to wag the dog! PETA and it's core members comprise a small minority of your viewers of the Westminster dog show. As it has been pointed out in post after post - they are not as they appear. The 'ethical treatment of animals' in their view, means total elimination! Sadly, many people give generously to this organization without an full understanding of their mission. As a dog owner and exhibitor at several of the Westminster shows, I can attest to the positive effect your airing of this show has. Additionally, it is good entertainment, which I assume is a prime concern for you. Between the hosts narratives and the commercial content, much needed and wanted information is given to the audience.

Please continue this coverage. Also, you might consider an in-depth investigation of PETA asnd HSUS. This would be good programming as well as good public service.

USA Network - please continue to broadcast the Westminster Dog Show. Don't let the PETA people stop you from showing it. I know many many reputable breeders who love their dogs, and their dog breeds. They take wonderful care of their dogs. I have enjoyed this show for many many years. I love watching the dogs and have learned a vast amount of stuff from watching. I know that the commentators talk about responsible dog ownership and going to a shelter or a rescue to get a dog.

Thanks for listening.

I want to join with everyone else in this forum and thank you for carrying the Westminster Dog Show. I look forward to it every year. It's one of the few places to see all the different breeds of dogs that you don't get to see everyday. I am writing this due to the LA Times article about PETA trying to stop the airing of this show. USA Network ROCKS!
tmd451
I love your coverage of the Westminster dog show. I do not do conformation but am interested in learning and helping others learn about the variety of breeds. I enjoy when my non-dog friends catch the show on your station and ask me all about MY dogs!! It's fun to be in "the know" when the winner makes the round of talk shows following the event. It's usually our "watercooler" talk at work the next day. Since I participate in a variety of dog performance events, I only wish you'd add other dogs sports like agility, stockdog work(herding), dog sledding or dockdogs.
Yeah for USA for covering one part of the dog world that is so much a part of so many people and their beloved pet's lives.
Keep up the great coverage!

Thank you for offering the Westminster Dog Show. Me and my family look forward to it every year. We watch it and tape it. Please do not give in to pressure from PETA. They are a group that if they have their way, no one will ever get to have a dog for a pet. Many potential dog owners watch Westminster on USA and then come to my shop and ask me about a breed they saw on the show. They listened to the short info given on the breed and want to learn more about that breed to decide if that is the breed for them. The telecast of Westminster is a place where Future dog owners can learn what a specific breed should look like, what the personality of a well-bred breed should be like and how they can find responsible breeders to buy their new dog from.

Thank you,
Lisa V.

Thank you USA Network for offering the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Although I have traveled to NYC the past four years to see the show in the morning, I try and make it home every evening to watch the Groups and BIS on USA.

This year my daughter will be showing at Westminster for the very first time. We will not be able to leave MSG until 8pm, but we will be recording it at home to watch or we will be running to the hotel to watch.

I hope you will continue this tradition for us and not fold under the pressures of PETA. I can assure you that we and everyone we know in the dog show world take the very best care of our dogs. Our dogs get so excited when they see the lead and when they are going to the ring, this is fun time for them. We do not breed just to breed. We breed to improve the breed. Not for show dogs, not for breeding, but for companions. Our dogs and most dogs that we know that show are raised in loving homes where they are pets first. Sleep in beds, play in yards, go to parks. They are not what PETA portrays.

The educational material that you provide during your broadcast is imperative for the public to know.

So please continue to be strong and fight this group that will go to terrorist tactics to destroy the enjoyment of other and the educational value of your programming.

I could not agree more than can I say it any better! Please do not take Westminster KC coverage off the air.
BAMSGRAM
I totally agree! Keep Westminster on the air. The PETA people are nuts who are trying to cause the extinction of all species--There is nothing wrong with the showing of dogs. Mine is also my beloved pet and sleeps in bed with me. He thinks he is 'special' when at the show and loves the attention he gets. Do not allow a few to ruin what is the one event of the year a lot of people look forward to! USA Network does a great job of showcasing the best of the best. Keep it up

I have recently learned of PETA's campaign to stop the Westminster broadcast.

The Westminster Kennel Club, as well as all serious kennel clubs and dog
breeders in America, represent (despite PETA's views) the best hope for
dogs. These breeders cultivate only the best in their breed, making sure
to breed out any genetic or other related health issues. They spend large
amounts of money on testing and diagnostics, making sure that the dogs
they breed will live healthy lives. Responsible breeders only breed when
they know they can guarantee loving families, who have been screened, for
their dogs. They make sure that families know exactly what they are
getting into, and offer guidance throughout the life of the dog. These
same breeders are passionately involved in breed rescue, and often take in
unwanted dogs to avoid seeing their beloved breed(s) in a shelter.

The Westminster Kennel Club and Show also strives to emphasize the cause
of adoption, and to focus national attention on the plight of dogs
suffering from irresponsible human choices. Additionally, it displays the
best of dogs to a national audience - dogs loved and cared for by their
people, and dogs - like the Angel on a Leash program - that are spreading
love and hope in the human community through services like canine therapy
in hospitals.

For two nights in February, Wesminters brings national attention to what
responsible dog ownership and care looks like! Thanks USA for carrying this show!

Finally, shall we discuss the errant ways of PETA? When breed rescue
organizations went in to save the pit bulls brutalized by Michael Vick,
PETA CONDEMNED their efforts, saying it would be "more humane" to simply
euthanize all the dogs! Unfortunately for PETA, the efforts of the
dedicated breed rescue groups have paid off, and all but 3 of the dogs
have been placed in families and have made remarkable progress, and now
enjoy loving homes. PETA clearly needs to get its facts straight - in a
misguided attempt to publicize the plight of dogs in shelters, it is
abusing the very group of dedicated people who are trying to keep dogs healthy and OUT
of shelters in the first place!
