Welcome to Loose bits of Crazy and or Creativity a forum dedicated to those random ideas that don't really fit anywhere else. This tread is an attempt to organize the stray bits of creativity from other treads such as Animals, Monk Floats, Monk in Other Jobs, and Monk Home Decor. Meaning that if you have any bizarre ideas about Monk you can post them here and help us create a compendium of creativity.
In this thread you can come up with your own ideas, build off some other fan's ideas, or just comment on loose bits of crazy. On a personal note feed back on our ideas is encouraged, it's more like a conversation that way. If you have any pictures or drawings that you feel add to your idea please share them.
Now to start this forum: Monk the anime...
We shall start with character design and other critical character information.
Randy would be police android that never really worked properly, but because he has a way of growing on people he was allowed to continue operating. The R. A. N. D. A. L. L. (Really Advanced Normal Dedicated Android with Life-time Loyalty) Unit in most cases is a robot designed to quickly analyze data from a crime scene and aid their human partner, but in the case of the Disher version there was a glitch in his theory composite software. Because the quirky Disher model does not live up to R. A. N. D. A. L. L. standards he was dubbed Randy a term of endearment from his human partners.
Programs and other Software Randy has downloaded into his memory bank:
1) Boot Liking and Sucking Up.
2) Cobra Style Martial Arts, which he uses when ever he gets a chance be it called for or not.
3) Boot Liking and Sucking Up, yes he accidental downloaded it twice which explains a lot.
4) Become a Master of Disguise Female Edition.
5) How Not to Flirt with Women, which he mistakenly uses as a guide on how to flirt with women.
6) Captain America comic books.
Randy's appearance wouldn't differ much with the exception that his body could open up to reveal a mechanical inside. His large ears would be handles that when twisted in a certain way would expose his brain for maintenance, as you can imagine this comes up a lot.
To prevent this post from becoming to wordy we will post one character at a time. Stay tuned up next is Sharona.

A Monk anime is a great idea. A few of my friends are...I guess you'd call them...animephiles (they're socks say: I'm crazy for anime). Monk anime would be a great medium to bring Monk to those with different interests. A lot of the gags on Monk are visual, so I think an anime would be a great way to express Monk's humor. I think TokyoPop now does some American-created series. I know Meg Cabot, the author of Princess Diaries, has a manga, so they might be willing to have a Monk one. So this is totally random, but....
Wouldn't you just love to have a Monk balloon? One with a picture of Monk's head on it so that his hair is on the back, and his face is on the front? I think it'd be fun to squish, and perfect for a Monk party. Monk always needs to loosen up, and a balloon would be a way for him to become the life of the party
Imagine Stottlemeyer as a lion. Everything about him, both his personality and his appearance, is reminiscent of a lion.
Could you see Natalie on the covers of Good Housekeeping if she was real? I could just see her swapping some recipes, explaining how she juggles her high-demand job and her homelife.
Monk in Time Square would be a very funny episode. It would be absolute torture for Monk there with the insane crowds. Actually, I don't think I'd like it much either, it just would be too mobbed with people.
Toode loo (how the heck do you spell that)

Please do we would love to see our Monk anime characters brought to life!
As your can see in your signature we toyed around on Photoshop to revamp Leland as an amine cat person. The picture in the top corner Leland is even holding a crime scene photo of a murdered cyborg from
Parasite Dolls and his claws are those of Inuyasha.
Monk should also have an article in
Good House Keeping about keeping your house good and clean, because there is no clean like OCD clean.

Monk's home even has the unlived in look of a magazine home.

Thank you both (monkchik693 and bunniesnMonkies) for partaking the crazy.
And a special thanks to bunniesnMonkies for responding, we are delighted that you did. Your mind seems to work in a similarly odd and wonderful way that ours do. Also your threads are always entertaining.
Monk the anime continued
Sharona translates rather well in to the world of anime because she already has a large coiffure, is well endowed, and wears skimpy clothes. Her outfit would be a skin tight nurses uniform that is both low cut in the front and short at the bottom. Sharona would have matching white high heeled boots. She would be adored with a blue leopard print (the same pattern as a skirt and jacket she owns) collar and matching spiked bracelet. The bracelet is lined with spikes to indicate that you don't mess with Sharona. The collar would have a golden S dangling from it. Her other necklace would be a cross that hangs down into her mighty cleavage. Above her eyes would be powder blue eye shadow.
Sharona's anime enhancements would include...
1) Increased intimidation to the point where she could look a person and they would wither.
2) The power to cause spontaneous nose bleeds in men, Randy would be particularly susceptible to this power despite being an android.
Up next Natalie.

Monk anime continued again.
Natalie would have cute fluffy white cherub sized wings with a mauve shimmer. Her wings would gently flutter whenever she was doing something kind such as handing Monk a wipe or giving him a hug. As for her wardrobe a stylized version of what she wore on the car trip up to the F.B.I. cabin seems best. Her sweater vest would become more of a halter top and the under shirt would have more buttons undone at the bottom revealing more of her torso. Naturally her pants would be a little tighter and her shoes would have taller heels. She would also have short hair it's much spunkier and more adorable.
Natalie's anime upgrades would be...
1) She could dial up her cuteness at will, the background would become pink with hues of lilac and sparkles would appear around her. Most people are powerless to this display and bend to her good natured will.
2) The ability to see the flow of karma, which annoys Leland to no end.
Coming soon Captain Stottlemeyer.

And Now For Something Completely Different
We have also considered the splendor of a Monk video game. Our version was less intellectual though, it would be more like an old school side scrolling Mario game. But, unlike Mario you would have to avoid mushrooms being as they are one of Monk's top 10 phobias. Monk would navigate the levels avoiding obstacles including turned over trash cans, people who want to touch him, frogs, mushrooms, and other non OCD friendly things. Instead of collecting coins for points Monk would collect clues. Extra points would be awarded for ending a level with an even number of points. There would all so be mini games like reorganize the refrigerator, a timed challenge- straighten Stottlemeyer's office before he returns, out do Harold Krenshaw, memory games, and a Frogger like challenge where Monk has to make it through a crowed mall during the dreaded holiday season .
We also thought of a rather asinine Capcom vs Marvel style Monk combat game the byproduct of a Dadaistic conversation. Monk could have a Barrage of Wipess attack.
We know that all these video games are superannuated but Monk works better in a simple 2D realm.
P.S. anime Stottlemeyer is on the way!
Also we need your help with feed back, tell us what you think of our character design and post your own odd ideas to help keep this thread alive.

More Monk amine.
Captain Stottlemeyer version 1 would be an amine cat person because he already resembles a loin and he is terrific at pouncing. A tail would give him a new way to fidget and integrate into his repertoire of gum and toothpick gnashing, finger drumming against his thighs or hand flapping in his pockets, and occasional foot tapping. Imagine how adorable it would be to watch Leland in his office playing with his Yo-Yo like a cat; bating at it with his clawed hands or stalking it across the floor. When his temper flares he could actually snarl at people (mostly Randy and Monk). If you bring your attention to our signature you will see 3 possible versions of neko Leland.
Man cat's upgrades...
1) The olfactory prowess of a cat, although Monk's sense of smell would remain unsurpassed.
2) The ability to discern Monk's mousy foot fall and other amazing feats of hearing.
Captain Stottlemeyer version 2 would be western themed. He would don a cop blue double breasted duster with a high collar and a slit up the back. Leland's black chaffs would be tight and fringeless matching his vest. The contents of his belt wouldn't vary much he'd still carry cuffs and a badge the only exception being instead of one pistol he would be armed with two silver hand cannons reminiscent of Colt 45s. His boots would come complete with intimidatingly sharp spurs. He would ride an enormous midnight onyx steed named Charger.
Captain 'Six-Shooter' Stottlemeyer's anime abilities...
1) His skill with a gun would increase.
2) If he didn't feel like shooting a fleeing suspect he could lasso them. He would keep the lasso on Charger's saddle and not on his belt.
Up next Monk a.k.a 'The Chosen One' or 'Aeon of Order'

Anime Monk
Monk is nay to fond of change so we have changed nothing about his appearance. Adrian will remain mousy, clad in brown or gray suits buttoned all the way up and free of flange. The only exception being that when Monk was having one of those moments were he looks especially sad he would be reduced into a chibi from.
Monk's New Anime Phobias... Even though Monk would not change, the world around him has so it would impact his obsessions, compulsions, and fears.
1) His fears of nudity and beautiful women might have to be moved up to his top ten list because most females in animes are very attractive and very nearly naked.
2) Instead of giving the Captain an air purifier for Christmas he would give man-beast Leland a flea collar. Monk could even give Leland one of those sticky sheets on rollers that are made to remove pet hair from clothes.
3) Monk would be terrified of Randy's blood because androids bleed a white fluid that resembles milk.
4) Natalie would be forced to tote around even more baggies so that she could pick up the feathers she left in her wake.
5) Monk could routinely count the spikes on Sharona's bracelet and inform her of the dangers of wearing it; tetanus, losing an eye, getting it snagged on fabric, etc...
6) Monk would never ride or for that matter come anywhere near Charger (Stottlemeyer's horse).
7) He would fear giant robots because much like airplanes they make no sense.
8) The world of anime has many strange creatures such as dragons, Mushi (which might rank somewhere near germs), demons, and assorted fluff ball beasts for Monk to fear on top oh his fear of regular animals (dogs, frogs, and ladybugs).
If you can think of anymore new fears please let us know.

You forgot to mention that all the characters would have to be between the ages of 15 and 25. Julie would probably have to be made Natalie's younger sister, rather than her daughter. Heh.
This is a really amusing idea. The only one I can't really see is either version of Leland. But I can't think of anything different... Oh, and there's no way Adrian would look "mousy". It's simply not possible for a main character in an anime. He'd be a total bishounen. The cute, shy type. He can keep the wardrobe, though. It's just too bad he doesn't wear glasses because that would complete the picture.
How about Trudy? I see her as being one of those angelic spirit people who visits the main character in dreams. Cause that's actually what she is... Fits perfectly into an anime theme. She'd be all angelic looking with flowing hair and always surrounded by an ethereal glow and seeming to be always in a breeze or underwater. She'd definitely float all the time, too. Wings optional. Could go either way.

Yes, we agree with the ethereal Trudy, it's exactly how we pictured her.
What's the problem with man-cat Leland or gunslinger Leland?
Bishounen Monk that almost exploded our brains trying to picture. Couldn't you just imagine Adrian having a heart attack every time flower petals flurried around him, he would have to carry his vacuum with him at all times.
Jiana
Jan 18 2009, 09:21 PM
Well... I don't know. I just can't picture Leland that way I guess. Even with the signature pictures, heheh. I guess it's just that cat-people are usually rare in anime. Except maybe hentai or majorly fluffy shoujo. People think they're everywhere, but they aren't, really. And male cat-people are even more rare. Plus, when they do appear, they're the cutesy character. Even as a lion, it just doesn't click in my mind. And the gunslinger version is just so... I don't know, maybe I'm picturing it wrong. Maybe if it were more like Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star style. They have a wild west theme without actually being in the wild west. Yeah... thinking about it like that I can see it a lot better.
And bishounen doesn't have to mean flower petals. They come in many types. I'd go into it, but I don't want to bore you any more than necessary, heheh. Anyway, I did think about it a bit more and now I'm seeing Adrian as more af a Shinji Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion) or Kimihiro Watanuki (xxxHolic) type character. They're more easily able to shift between comedy and tragedy, much like Adrian does, and their appearance fits that. Not excessively pretty, but not goofy or hyper looking like the spikey-haired main characters of shonen anime tend to be. A nice, happy medium.
Of course, this is all just my opinion. You're obviously welcome to see things however you want.

Monk= I'm a Loser, Eleanor Rigby, Help, Nowhere Man, In My Life, Yesterday, Across the Universe, It's all too much
Monk when Trudy was alive= A Hard Days Night, Can't By Me Love, Eight Days a Week
Leland= Piggies, I am the Walrus (because of the mustache)
Randy= Birthday
Karen= All You Need is Love
Sharona= Lovely Rita
Assassins from mr. Monk and the candidate ans mr. Monk takes a punch= Happiness is a Warm Gun
Future homicidal nut that Monk might have to foil= Maxwell Silverhammer

Speaking of music, I posted this on another thread yesterday, edited some:
QUOTE
I just read something interesting (at TV.com) about Monk and the Other Woman episode. Talk about "6 degrees of separation." ... ... Monica Waters chooses D-7 on the jukebox [when she was dining with Monk]. The song is "I Only Have Eyes For You," [Monk and Trudy's love song] sung by Art Garfunkel. I don't know how to describe it, but in the Lotto episode of season #7, they made fun of Art Garfunkel (it seemed to me) by referring to the lesser/ridiculed/loser member of a team as a "Garfunkel." Yet in the Other Woman ep they appreciate Garfunkel as the singer of Monk-Trudy's favorite love song. (What will Willie Nelson think?)
