Hi, I'm a long time fan of Criminal Intent
New to the site

As the topic title explains, I am interested in an autograph
Specifically from Vincent D'onofrio and Kathryn Erbe
And maybe if this post got a lot of responses it might get someone's attention

Thank you
Jryan

Well the only way I want an Autograph is if its in person, so unless someone flies me to NY or If VDO comes to Louisiana and calls me, guess I won't be getting one. So Vincent, if you come to New Orleans, give me a call. wink.gif

Welcome to the forum. The show has a mailing address at Chelsea Piers in New York. I don't know how much luck people have when they write to that address. I will try to find the address and post it here but if anybody else already knows it, please advise Kyle.

Edited to add:

Here's the address that I found. I hope it works for you.

Vincent D'Onofrio (or any other L&O person)

Thank you both for your help

I actually have an autograph from Vince. I didn't get it personally...I wish! cool.gif
I friend from Myspace met them this summer and got a bunch of autographs from Vince for all of his myspace friends. It was a nice surprise and very thoughtful of him...both the friend AND Vince for being so patient and signing all of them.
I did write Vincent a letter shortly after my gram's death. But I have not heard anything back. I actually didn't write it to get anything back though, so it's okay by me. It was more of a personal thank you to him.
vinnie48
I to wrote two letters to this address about 2years ago but unfortunately have not got a reply back but at the time i did hear it can take upto a year for a reply but maybe being from the UK made a difference but so i dont know but if you are going to write to him let us know how you get on if you do get a reply

If your willing to pay, or if someone wants to buy you a gift, ebay has two autographed pics for sale.

I live in NY & wish I could get an autograph.
And sadly, a few of the people I work with have seen him before shopping, but didn't know I was a fan, and didn't ask for an autograph sad.gif . (Apparently he has a place in NY outside of the 5 boroughs)

I'm not familiar with New York. What do you mean by "outside the 5 boroughs"? I thought Vincent lived in New York.

When I say outside the 5 boroughs I mean, not Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx, Queens & Staten Island. So while he may have a place in manhattan (or brooklyn?), he also has a place elsewhere. (My friend that works for a shipping company says she's delivered packages to his house)

so she must have asked for his signature, wonder if they get introuble if they ask for an autograph? Well if it is out side the 5 boroughs its outside NYC right?

yes. But I don't know if he would have signed for whatever he got. (you, only have to sign if the signature is required)

Sorry for bumping this very old thread but-uh... it just made me think of a funny story that happened a few years ago, almost 10 (wow! time flies)

I was online checking mail and my friend was on the computer next to mine, at the university library. Suddenly she comes out with: hey, look what I found! Dick Van Dyke's address! Looks like a home address, not fanmail stuff...
me: ehm... yes and-uh...
friend: hey, you're the one that speaks English, why don't you send a postcard?
me: me? a postcard? to... Dick Van Dyke??? you're nuts, lol...
friend: hey, if the address is wrong, who cares... a postcard is harmless
me: whatever...

So we pick up a postcard with a nice photo of the Tuscan countryside and I write more or less the following:
Hi Mr. Van Dyke, big fan of yours. First time I saw you I didn't really see you because my mother was expecting of me and watched a Mary Poppins' re-run at the Summer theater. I like your show, Diagnosis murder and by the way, I'm sure Malibu is a nice place, but-uh... Tuscany's better tongue.gif Best regards, Sara
I sent the postcard as I would send it to anyone, no envelope, no pre-stamped returning envelope for an autograph or anything, just my address in tiny print in a corner, "just in case".

8 months later...

I go pick up the mail and find a big envelope from California. Mmm, do I know anyone in California? Back then I didn't, so I was curious to know who was sending this (handwritten address, no returning address). Well, it was Mr Van Dyke, or an assistant?, and the content was a nice black&white photo of him with autograph "Hi Sara, God Bless, Dick Van Dyke"
I started laughing so hard... Holy skunk, look at this, the man must have had pity of my crazyness! What a shame! Needless to say, my friend was a bit jealous anyway, lol... Who would have thought?!

This was a very crazy story, I know (and the Mary Poppins reference is true) and I'm not even a big fan of autographs. I wouldn't mind getting one if I cross the person on the street, for instance, or have a photo taken with him/her, though I'm sure not all actors/actresses appreciate being asked for a photo. I've met a few, some more famous, other less famous, some I met accidentally, some for work, and the nicest part was always saying hello, maybe shake hands, the 'I like your work' / 'nice to meet you and have a great day' part and smile away. It doesn't leave any "proof" of meeting, but I dig it a lot more than collecting autographs.
Just my two cents, of course... smile.gif

This is a great story, Sara! I had a friend whose ex-husband worked in Hollywood (as a gaffer, I think?) and she got to meet quite a few celebrities. She said that Dick Van Dyke was one of the nicest...and most "real"....people she met.

That's a great story. I have always thought Dick Van Dyke seemed like such a nice person so it's good to hear stories confirming the fact. I used to love Diagnosis Murder - his real life son Barry Van Dyke played his son on the show (talk about type-casting!) tongue.gif

I happen to have an autographed photo of VDO that spookycc sent me for my birthday last year. It's a cherished possession of mine, although meeting the man face to face would be an opportunity I would love to have, but I'd be too tongue tied to ask for an autograph, a photo or anything else.

Yep, Dick Van Dyke is too nice biggrin.gif

Judy,
I doubt I'd ever ask for an autograph or photo, like you said. I was on a movie set a while ago and come to think of it, the only photo I have with a celebrity was -his- idea, as in he asked if I wanted to and of course, I couldn't say no to Bruce Willis rolleyes.gif
No, seriously. I would go too off topic, so... maybe on another thread, board, life... smile.gif
I like the expression "tongue tied", though... never heard of it. I like it.

I can give you two stories that I have always enjoyed telling. cool.gif

As a teenager, I was a HUGE Dukes of Hazzard fan but obviously grew out of that infatuation as I got older. When my son was little, the Dukes became popular all over again when TNN or one of the stations began rerunning the episodes. My son became obsessed and has so much memorobilia in his room, it lookes like a 'DUKES" museum.

As a treat, I took him to a county fair where Tom Wopat (Luke Duke) was performing - the man is a talented singer. Anyway, all these beautiful, young women were in line to get his autograph and my son had brought a 'General Lee' with him in hopes of getting an autograph. So, we stood in line and I thought that there is no way my son would get to see this guy, all these women were going to monopolize his time and he wouldn't have time for 'a kid'. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised when my son's turn arrived, Mr. Wopat spent almost 15 minutes with him, just talking about the show and cars and my son's interests. (The women were getting maybe 5 minutes, the kids got much more attention and real conversations.) No only did my son get his General Lee autographed, he got his shirt autographed too! tongue.gif

And, my 2nd story, keeps with the Dukes of Hazzard theme. Ben Jones, who played Cooter (and was later a Congressman for the state of Georgia I believe), was performing at another fair in our area, a few years later. He told stories and sang a few songs and met the fans afterwards. My son got his autograph and several pictures taken with him. They were both wearing NASCAR hats and started a conversation about their favorite drivers, but got interrupted when more fans arrived wanting autographs. We went on our way and were walking through the fair grounds later on when Mr. Jones FOUND my son so they could continue their conversation. When his manager tried to tell him it was time to leave, Mr. Jones told him, very politely, that he was talking to a 'friend' and would be along when he was through. He even introduced my son and I to his wife.

Both of these men left my son with memories he cherishes, stories I love to tell and we're both fans for life. biggrin.gif

I'm sure neither is as interesting as meeting Bruce Willis ::thud::, but it sounds like Sara has a very, very interesting life.

*bites nails* Well...
I was in Rome, wandering around the set of Ocean's Twelve for 2 days, visiting a friend who was an extra on it. Saw almost the entire cast except Brad Pitt (spotted Jennifer Aniston around). I even saw the director but someone had to tell me he was the director because I had no idea what Soderbergh looked like, lol.
I did crossed George Clooney a couple of times but the first time I was talking to Bruce Willis (cut me some slack) and the second time I was looking in the opposite direction, I didn't see GC waiving hello, I was too distracted. I hope Mr. Clooney isn't too touchy I basically ignored him.
Elliot Gould was also very nice and Julia Roberts, well, I think Julia mistook me for someone else coz she said hello from 2 trailers away like I was someone she knew. I said hello but I'm sure I must have had a surprised look on my face "is she really saying hello to me?? why?? lol"...
So, here it is... Rome 2004. I only have this photo as a souvenir, but those have been two very funny days, having a good time with some really nice people.

Guess we can turn this thread into a "share your nice meetings" thread?! lol...

Great stories, Judy!!! biggrin.gif

sort of... Let's just say that globetrotting has pro and cons.

PS: the CG thing was 3 times in 2 days: 2 times he said hello (me talking to BW, me at the trailer park) and 1 he walked by when I was at the bar with my friend. D'OH!

Wow, GREAT stories Sara and Judy! I've always liked Tom Wopat...it's good to hear he is so nice to his fans, especially the kids. Sara, that's a terrific picture. I would suggest that you put a watermark on it or something (I have no idea how that works). One of our members, Tashafallen, met VDO at the Nashville Film Festival last year and had some pictures taken with him, which she shared with us of course. Some unscrupulous person sold one of Tasha's pictures on Ebay! So she went in and added a watermark to all her pictures.

I don't have any stories of my own, but I'll steal from my friend. When her ex was a gaffer, he worked on the show "Who's the Boss?" After filming the final episode, they had a big wrap party. My friend, "M", was there dressed in this beautiful, low-cut green dress. Rodney Dangerfield crashed the party and M said he was totally drunk! She went over to him and asked, "Can I have a picture taken with you?" He looked her up and down and said, "No...can I have a picture taken with you?" She showed me the picture...and it was quite a dress! But, even drunk, she said he was very sweet and nice.

She also met Bonnie Hunt. I've always loved her. And she was a nurse before getting into acting...which made her all the more popular with M and myself since we are nurses. She said that Bonnie was another of the very real, very nice people...she said she didn't take anything for granted and was just thrilled to be able to act and write and meet all her favorite stars.

My only regret during my high school years (well, the biggest one at least biggrin.gif) was not staying after school had ended for the day to see LOCI filming in my building! The episode was "Shrink-Wrapped" from season 3, and there were trailers and equipment everywhere but I didn't see any actors. I remember thinking my mom wanted me home on time that day for some reason, so I lamely convinced myself not to stick around for a little longer. The scene was the one where Goren and Eames visit the music teacher and there are stands with sheet music around. I'm still kicking myself over that!

Coincidentally, a scene from the season 8 episode "Salome in Manhattan" was filmed in the same room of my school, where Nichols ruuuuunnsss into the all-boys academy, up the stairs, and starts to play the piano smile.gif Too bad I had graduated years before, I would have been there to try and make up for past mistakes! laugh.gif

As far as actually getting an autograph, I went to see one of my fav bands, Franz Ferdinand, a few years ago when they were in NY. A couple of weeks earlier, I had made a fake custom license plate at my college that said "FRANZ FAN" on it, and I totally brought it with me and was jumping up and down with it by the stage area (I think I looked like a loon, but it felt so good! laugh.gif ) One of my friends waited with me backstage for them to come out, and they all signed the plate! One of the band members even said he saw it from stage, and it was very creative! A little embarrassing but I was smiling for the next week!

Ooh...I do. I was in Hawaii, on the Big Island, on a business trip, and my husband came with me to make a vacation out of it. We were in the airport at Hilo, queued up for our flight over to Honolulu, and I decided to go to the ladies room. I was hoofin' it across the gate area, head down and on a mission, when I totally side-swiped this guy. We both said sorry and kept on walking. When I got back to the gate my husband said, "Do you know who that was that you almost knocked over." Of course, I had no idea. He said, "That was Sam Neil you totallly shoulder-checked!" I had no idea...all I saw was a guy in a Hawaiian shirt. Turns out, they were filming "Jurrasic Park 3" in the islands when we were there. Since then, I've paid much more attention to who I knock over in airports! tongue.gif

WOO HOO! Way to go! tongue.gif yeah, airports... definitely interesting places, lol...
Made me think of someone else I saw at an airport... in the late '80s. Must have been '88 or '89... Mr. Don Lurio. The shortest guy I've ever seen, lol... He was right before my father (who is 6'2") standing in line coming out of the customs at the airport in Italy.
I also saw Fiona May once, at the airport in Bologna, while I was waiting for someone. Very nice person... smile.gif

hey, guys, d'ya really want me to open a free wordpress blog with multiauthors? lol, we seem to have quite a few nice stories, indeed, lol... everyone could post theirs...

Since then, I've paid much more attention to who I knock over in airports! tongue.gif

So cool!

ok, then, lol... suggestion box is open, we need a name for the blog...

the address will be http://nametochoose.wordpress.org/
like, donno... http://nearmisses.wordpress.org/ lol...

the isn't too much choice as for themes/layouts in the free blog, but we can choose one together and the stories will be more interesting anyway, right wink.gif

I have a couple of stories that I thought I would share. I went to a Alan Jackson concert in 2008, before the show I got to meet him at a meet and greet, outside there was a little air conditioned tent set up for all the meet and greet fans, I was soooo happy !! I was on cloud 9!! I got my picture with him!! There was a long line, It was my turn in line, but I think I was neverous at first so I didn't go up right away, AJ was very nice, he asked me how I was doing, he put his arm around me. I went with my Uncle, to the concert, so we both got a picture with him, he was very warm and nice, I told him I liked his music he said thank you!! I was on cloud 9, all nite!! I had a blast!!

I went to my 2nd Taylor Swift concert, on October 11th 2008, I got to meet her and her mom, her mom was taking pictures for her website, It was neat, there were two guys in line to meet TS, one had a video camera, when they got up in line to meet her, the guy without the video camera, got down on one knee and proposed to her, while his friend video taped it. Taylor had this look on her face like she totally didn't know what to say she looked dumbfounded, poor girl!! Taylor told the guy that she didn't think it would work out, the guy said that they could work it out. It was so funny!! I got up in line, she thanked me for buying her CD and coming to see her show, I told her thank You for performing for all of us, she smiled and laughed, she signed my CD, I heart Trista, she said by Trista, I was on cloud 9, it was so awesome. she is so nice gracioius.
