I would love to see Goren dressing like he did in the first couple of seasons....Its irritating that the new dect. dresses better than Bobby. Also I would like to see the more "incontroled" Goren.

I liked his look then too, but I think his new wardrobe has to do with what looks best on his body now. He's quite a bit heavier than he was 7 years ago.

Welcome to the forum. Yes indeed, Bobby did look great in those Armani suits. He has worn suits occasionally in the past few seasons but IMHO some of them didn't fit him very well. It appears to me that over the past few seasons LOCI hasn't had the same level of resources allocated to wardrobe as they once did. Eames wardrobe has suffered as well. As a matter of fact, Vincent seams to wear the same clothes in his private life as on set, leading many of us us to speculate whether Vincent/Kathryn are actually using their own wardrobes on the show.
Jryan
suits make him look fatter, the black is slimming. So I guess until he loses weight we won't see too many suits. To bad I look bad in black. It washes me out. See me in my Goren TSHirt in post your pick thread. Blue is more my color, stay tuned for Christmas pics, Love this Blue Velvet shirt I got to wear for christmas. Now I need strapless bra and black pants, but then I think I just went OT. Sorry rolleyes.gif

Oh I prefer the casual look with beard! wink.gif

Oh and Frog welcome to the forum! Looking forward to your post and reading all you have to say about our show. Please read through all our interesting threads.

Hi Frog...welcome!

I would definitely like to see our Det. Goren in a nice suit again, and Det. Eames always looked so nice in her business attire. I wonder if the writers/wardrobe have taken them in the direction of a more casual approach because in real-life, workplaces are tending to be more "business casual" these days. I hardly see anyone wearing suits in the office any more ( I'm wearing jeans to work today, in fact). I also wonder if their wardrobes are reflective of the rough time they've been having. Hmm...just some thoughts. I do like it when they have to wear their uniforms to official police functions...they both look very nice. I am a sucker for a man in uniform, though! rolleyes.gif

Jryan...I'm like you, can wear black on bottom but not on top. I don't know who came up with the "little black dress" idea, but it makes me look ghastly. I can't do red, either. Navy blue or purple (eggplant) are much better. Oops, I just went OT, too. My bad. ohmy.gif

Omg Red makes my face look Redder! I have red cheeks already, lol. Ok back to topic sorry, lol. Maybe we need a fashion thread, lol. Nope I won't do it. lol.

Oh but What I didn't understand was in Depths, it was stated it was the Hottest day in NYC, which I am From Louisiana, but I have heard NYC gets hot. But Goren and Eames were on the Beach, Eames in a Leather Jacket, and Goren in a full suit! My God, seems they would have been sweating buckets! Didn't make sense to me. There fashion should fit the dialog, I know it can't fit when we are viewing it, but If they talk about heat, dress them accordingly.
Jryan
I wish they would try the all black suit or all dark blue suit. with solid dark tie. Man I bet he would be smokin. no tie clip.

Hmm...a fashion thread. Tempting, but I'll be good. biggrin.gif

I'll have to watch for that on Depths the next time I see it. I agree that they should be consistent. We lived in FL twice for a total of about 8 years, and I can't even imagine owning a leather jacket there, much less wearing one. Phew!

I love the navy suit with light blue shirt and copper-brown tie.

Let's not forget about the Burberry Overcoat.

When he gave it to Frank, I thought to myself, "No Not the Coat"

My favorite suit of his.......is his birthday suit.
::blushes:: did I say that out loud?? laugh.gif

Actually, the one I really like him in is the gray one, with the burgundy tie.
Or the jacket he wore in Purgatory.

Hi Jryan,

I saw "Depths" tonight, and yep...it seemed like they should have been wilting. Later in the show they seemed to better embrace the weather. Makes you wonder if it was a bit of an after thought and they didn't have time to re-shoot. Good episode, though. I loved the scene when they were in the rare book room at the library/archives. It reminded me of "National Treasure" or "indianna Jones".

I've got shopping on the brain today and am ready to head out with my holiday gift list. I'll keep an eye out for just the right new suit for Bobby.

Phewey...I forgot to look for tie clips while I was shopping! Well, I guess that means I have to back to the mall tomorrow (darn!). rolleyes.gif

Years ago, my dad had a tie clip in the shape of PT-109, John F. Kennedy's boat from WWII. My grandfather was a guard at the White House and President Kennedy gave it to him and all the other staff one year as a momento. I have no idea what may dad did with it. Too bad, 'cause not only is it a collectable, it would have looked really nice on Bobby's ties.

Absolutely!

There is a company called "Crazy Shirts" based out of Hawaii that has really cool t-shirts, shorts, surf-wear, and stuff like that. That would be a perfect accompanyment to Bobby's swimsuit wardrobe. Crazy Shirts

Gee...are you sure we don't need a fashion thread? wink.gif

Wait...and how might you know how pale he is under his shirts?? Hmm?? rolleyes.gif
LadyBlueDevil
I was just flipping through stills of LOCI's earlier seasons over on the "reel", and I noticed that Bobby did, at one time, where some lighter color suits and coats (at least lighter than black). I hope that the wardrobe dept shakes things up a bit and gives him a little more variety in season 8. I won't go so far as to say he needs to wear a pink shirt with a suit, but I bet it would look nice if he did. smile.gif
LadyBlueDevil
Since we've been chatting about it on the fan club thread, I thought I'd pop this one back up front. biggrin.gif

Me thinks this was his BEST look...and yeah, he has bulked up since the first 3 seasons...but I DO prefer the suits - and the ties.
DetectiveC
Suits . . . yes, Goren definately looked very nice in his suits. My favorite included a light blue shirt, with a chocolate brown tie that had light blue accents.

Earlier in the thread, there was a suggestion that maybe his new wardrobe is a reflection of the trend towards a more casual workplace. That may be the case, especially if the decisions are being made out West in LA, but in my opinion, I think the show has missed the mark if that is what they are trying to incorporate. There was an article just this last year about NYPD detectives and their wardrobe. According to that article (which I wish I could find), real NYPD detectives always where suits. In fact, there is a retailer who specializes in outfitting detectives. He stocks jackets which are cut wider to accommodate their "gear" (gun/holster, note pad, handcuffs, etc.) and need for good range of motion.

So, I say, "Bring back the suits!" I know current budget may be an issue, but a couple of well tailored suits would look very nice on him, and then they could throw in a variety of shirts and ties to mix things up a bit . . . and, if his wardrobe is reflecting his mood/emotions, I'm hoping Season 8 will mark the healing process for him, which can be demonstrated to the viewers partly through his wardrobe.

That's really interesting! I work in the DC area, and it really is a mix. My office, which is a govt office outside of town, tends to be a little more business casual these days, whereas back in the late '90s, it was all business attire. I'm with you..."Bring back the suits!"

I live near the west coast, and business attire, as we used to know it, is nearly a thing of the past every day of the week. Even bank tellers don't have to dress up anymore. Personally, I find it rather sad, and I miss it. My husband's ties are gathering dust in the back of the closet, except, notably, for business trips to NYC. Then, the requirement is full suit and tie. Anyway, back on topic. Let's not let Goren's ties gather dust any longer.

Thanks! My retired Army-guy officemate called them that the first time I wore them to work. I was just psyched they were waterproof without looking like galoshes!

Cross dipping is like double dipping, except you not only dip your chip twice, you also dip it in two different bowls (like dipping once into the salsa, and the second time into the guacamole). There's a Mexican restaurant nearby that puts out snacks while you wait for a table and they have a big sign that explains all the dipping etiquette. It's pretty funny.

Oh, gag, one time a guy across the table
was double dipping and he had dirt under
his fingernails. Do you think he knew that
was the perfect way to get all the chips? Yuck.

I think Goren would look absolutely delicious in
a well-cut suit. I am definitely pro suit and tie.
I do wonder what real NY detectives close to
his situation wear--if the ones down on their
luck are allowed to wear jeans to work, and
what their real dress code is. I like to think
VDO is working from internal and external research.

There is a picture of him sitting in front of some grafitti.

And in the background, subliminally, there is an arrow

year where he and Alex a walking on a playground. The

camera angle is such that a phallic-shaped rod in the

Sooooooooo, the fire hydrant is in front of his pants.
