Ok you know the "We should KISS!" scene from MR. MONK AND THE GENIUS. Of course you do, what was I thinkin; you're all obsessed Monk fans, like me! LOL!

Well let me get to the point of this topic now. When you saw that scene, just for second, didn't you want them to kiss? Because I got this big knot in my stomach in which I wanted them to kiss. Did anyone else felt that way at that scene?

Why? It's pretty obvious: They just love each other! In "... on the run" it was sooo obvious. And also when Monk carried the sexy security dress in the bank episode it was very very likely that they will come together some time...

I certainly wasn't looking for "The Kissage" in that scene, at least not the lip-locking kissage of Natalie with the leper. If it had happened I would have expected Adrian to have been taken aback by Natalie locking lips with him; holding himself rigid then asking her, 'why in the world did you do that?' I just can't see a romance there.

Others I know see it differently, maybe they put themselves and their own feelings into the characters and want it to happen because they would like it to happen with themselves and Adrian/Tony or themselves and Natalie/Traylor - I just don't want to see it happen but that could be because I can't see myself with him in a romantic way. Or with Leland or Randy either. Now Natalie/Traylor, I could see myself having a good girl to girl friendship going on with her - a friendship guys, not a romance.

I watched this episode, yesterday. And I was really wondering why Natalie actually SAID that. Why does she say something like that after so many years of working with this man? I really didn't get it. It was a strange situation. They sat in that car and the genius was approaching - but was that such a 'danger' that kissing would have been a solution? Why was she so nervous about it? And why didn't she just drive away?
It was really ... interesting that she said "kiss". Why didn't she just say "diss" or "hide" or ... "clean the car".

I found this scene very interesting too.I really want them to get together,eventually,and wait for a moment like this,and when she said it,I was like:''Omg,did she actually say what I think she did?''But then,I started thinking why did she tell this?They say many interesting things to each other in this last season...

Yeah I think its clear Natalie likes Monk or at least flirts with him whether or not it actually comes to anything. I like the little lines the writers throw in here and there to tease the shippers. Monk was being a complete jerk to Natalie in the episode where he gets shot...and for that I found the episode a bit annoying bc I dont like whiny Monk...but the scene where Stottlemeyer pulls Monk aside and asked him cant he see Natalie "lo-" him and he's going to "lose that girl" haha. And then when Monk's like to Natalie about how "he just doesn't understand our relationship." And then with the old woman in the last episode when he tells her he has no friends. Because he cleary does, It just got me thinking Monk really is soooo blind to the fact that Natalie really does love him as he is and he has real friends in Disher and Stottlemeyer- so I def think at the end of the series something will happen where he gets some sense knocked into him and sees the truth.

Yeah I can't see M/N having a long passionate kiss either LOL....its more like a CUTE ship than a HOT ship...they can share a wipe or some listering afterward...how romantic!!!

I thought it was kind of weird when Natalie said "We should kiss" to Adrian. It was kind of funny, but it didn't really make much sense to me. I'm not an Adrian/Natalie shipper at all. I think having them be romantically involved would ruin the show. I've seen it happen on so many other shows where the characters are suddenly romantic toward each other. Look at "Moonlighting". The soaps are the same way. You want this couple to be... well, a couple so badly, and once it happens it changes things. For me, anyway. I watched Days of our Lives for years and it took three years for my favorite characters to become a couple. Sure they had kissed and had awesome chemistry playing the cat and mouse game, but once it was real and they got married, they became... dare I say it? Boring.

I did write a fan fiction on fanfiction.net about this very thing. Natalie kissing Adrian romantically. However in my story, they didn't end up as a couple. In fact, it traumatized Adrian to no end.

I'm not putting down anyone who wants them to be a couple, but I'm definitely not an Adrian/Natalie shipper. I can see her with Randy, though.

I loved that little "we should kiss" scene! I mean I still definitely consider myself a shipper, but I know that the writers will most likely not go there, I just like to imagine my own ending to the show I also think a quick kiss at the very end of the show would be nice. It should be meaningful though, if he's going to freak and have a breakdown about it, I'd rather them not kiss at all. I'd like the writers to leave us room for our own interpretations at the end of the series, so that shippers and non-shippers will both be happy I still think that the M/N ship is a total cute ship though, obviously not a hot ship lol

Well, but let me say something about the "we should kiss" scene. I want to believe the writers put that to "feel" the fans reactions and used this like a thermometer to decide what to do in the last season. If the reception to the scene was good, and this doesn't mean all people should agree, but simply think it was cute, so that would, in fact, mean, the public DOES like to see Adrian and Natalie together, and so, the writers can go on with these adorable scenes in a growing up way, letting Adrian and Natalie slowly get involved, until the brilliant and long waited end: THE REAL KISS!
On the other hand, if the public made a fuss (a real big one, ok?) about it, including many angry posts (more than one million...oh, no wait... billion ), protests on the streets (even in the rain and snow at night!)...then that could, perhaps, possibly, after many complex calculations ...mean that the writers shouldn't go on the love road...
BUT... as we know none of the negative ways of demonstrating disagreement happened, AND since LOVE is something very, very,very,very,very very...very ...CUTE, SWEET, and NECESSARY ...SO the writers now know what to do...

The point of the joke was that the bad guy was coming and Natalie and Monk were sitting in a parked car and she didn't want to look like they were tailing the bad guy so she blurted on one way to make it look reasonable for two people to be sitting in a parked car together. Upon realizing what she said, she vehemently backtracked ordering Monk to forget she had mentioned that 'we should kiss'. Ha ha ha.

They´re friends. She loves him. If it´s romantically or not I don´t know, but she does. And he loves her... but I think it´s not romantically. But it can change easily... things like that happen in real life. Why not in the show?
By the end of the season they could at least leave us the impression that they might end up together someday... using tender looks, more touching and a little kiss... that´s all I´d ask for... a little kiss in the mouth, of course, it doesn´t have to be wild or something like that...

I know you were asking Crystal, but there's no reason we can't both answer. I'm not against the shipper, just the relationship because-

1. It's kind of cliche.
2. I personally don't see any real romantic chemistry between them, if it shows up now, it would be like it was coming out of nowhere.
3. A relationship would be so much of a big deal for Monk that the show could no longer be about the mysteries, too much attention would have to be focused on the relationship. And really, aren't there enough shows on TV that pretty much revolve around the romantic lives of their main characters?
4. There is an unrealistic and unhealthy idea that a person who is unhappy only needs to find another person who will make them happy. People can't be made happy by someone else, they are the only person that can make them happy.
5. Really, doesn't it take more than proximity, working with someone to make a romance?
6. Just because Natalie is a woman on TV doesn't mean she *has* to be romantically involved. I would really love to see a show make it to the end of it's run without it's independent, smart female lead getting hooked up with someone as the obvious happy ending. Some women really can feel complete and perfectly happy without a husband or significant other in their lives. A romantic relationship doesn't and shouldn't always equate to an ultimate reward or The One Real Happy Ending.
7. Okay, you got me, I'm one of those crazy, weird women who never understood the thrill of romance novels, who thought they were good enough to line a bird cage with but also thought they were basically a waste of time because before you even open the book, you already know pretty much exactly what happened. I like things that are unique, and I find things that are all the same boring. Being different is good. And romantic love if not a bad thing, but I have no interest in yet another show that revolves are unresolved sexual tension, or the romantic exploits of the characters.

I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with people who do like shows that focus one the romantic interests of the characters, but there are and have been a lot more shows on TV that focus on romantic aspects than there have been shows that had strong female characters who didn't end up falling in love with the lead male character or weren't out looking for the right guy all along. In seven seasons, this show has done well with comedy and drama and not having to rely on sexual tension or romance, it would just seem odd to change it now, Maybe that should be number 8.

I would love to see them kiss. It wuold be sooooo great, sweet, cute. And the fun thing is, that I have been a shipper just a little over a year...it came up to my mind from some scenes in episodes....and then I found a name to it from this Forum: shipping. I don´t care to think about how illogical it would be, how it would ruin the mystery story lines, how cheesy it would be...I would just want to see them kiss! If just for example in the end of show.




Yes, it is probable, that this is the obvious reason for the scene. But we can always think, that "We should kiss" is also meant to tease fans......Writers would have invented something else also.

Hi, Liv.... I don´t think myself as a romantic type...although Casablanca is one of my favorite movies ever, but still I have preferred more scifi and detective stories as romantic. ...but still I have found a little shipper inside me...

I am in Europe, and I suppose, that we have here more independent female detectives in our mystery series...at least nowadays.... I understand your points very well..

1. It may be a cliche, but sometimes cliches are also great to see come true....
2. The romantic hints have to be in watcher´s eyes...some people see romantic hints in relationship between Randy and Natalie, or even between Sharona and Monk, not to mention some even fantastic shippings, but I cannot see them. We all have seen the same episodes...oh, many times, but different people see different things and interpret them differently.
3. That might be true, that the nature of the show would change too much...that is why I have always thought, that it would be just in the end of the show..when the case of Trudy´s murder has been solved. Because it HAS TO be solved...
4. Yes, if a person can´t be happy, then an other person cannot make him/her happy, but it doesn´t mean, that all unhappy people shoud stay alone before they find their way to be happy and only after that they are allowed to have a relationship? Hmmmmm... I wonder how many couples we would have on the Earth...
5. No, but sometimes working together mean getting know other person better and maybe being together....At least not having illusions about the other.
6. No, I don´t think, that independent tv females need always to get involved romantically. I would just love to see this particular female to involved romantically.
7. I have not also been a great fun of romantic stories....I think, they are boring....but sometimes a little romantic inside me wake up.

This reminded me of my most important reason for not getting a fullblown romantic kiss!! People need to be allowed to interpret the show and any given scene in the way that they want to, so that non-shippers like myself don't feel let down, Natalie/Randy shippers don't feel betrayed, and Natalie/Monk shippers also don't feel betrayed and disappointed. It should be done so that each group can watch it and choose to see it however they want to, to leave possibilities open, even in the final episode, because we want to leave it open to a possible movie, don't we?

I happen to be a shipper because of the way I started to watch the show... I saw it for the first time last december, then I started to watch it everyday...
since the beginning Monk seemed to me to be a person that needed someone there for him, to take care of him .So I desperatly wanted someone to love him, cause he seems to not love himself because of his fears. There was Sharona, his friend and nurse, then she was gone. Natalie came up and I didn´t like her... but somehow I felt Monk was getting better beacause of her, and I realized that maybe she was the one for him. They perhaps will never be in a relationship, but I can´t see them apart anymore.
If Natalie leaves, Monk will be bronken again.
Now I love Natalie and I want her be with him forever, romantically or not.

We may disagree about whether a kiss should or shouldn't happen, but I can still see the humor. And, if the universe is still operating as it should, what either of us wants to happen should not influence the writers' choices on this matter, only what is best for the series should have any affect.
