Hello all,
I use to see Hugh in movies years ago and always loved his voice and blue eyes !!
I love the scruffy House look !! I am not sure how long the series has been on, I just started watching it lately on USA at night during my unwinding time. I know he can be such a jerk, but I still want to like him blink.gif I am sure all of this has been discussed before. I will check out some more threads.

I have always had good luck at Amazon.com and I think Columbia House has the House Dvds.
I am looking to buy wireless headphones for someone as a Christmas gift, to be used with TV, sound systems etc.
Cant find them in the stores unless I want to pay $100 and up. Found a bunch online though. Does anyone own a pair or know of a good set under $100 ? Thanks

Watched a lot of House yesterday, I love his smart come backs. I work with a lady that thinks she knows everything about everything and would love to have a smart come back for her ! wink.gif I need to watch more house I guess.

As I am pretty new to watching House, I wondered if Hugh really played the piano. I was so happy to learn that he is an accomplished piano player along with many other talents. Also I read he is in a movie that is in production called "Monsters VS Aliens" I was amazed when I read his bio. A lot of different talents there !

I know--it's awesome, isn't it? I actually found out about House about a year ago at my grandma's house, then started watching it when they started playing it on USA. I'm fairly new to these boards, too.
But when I started going on the boards I had no idea they were still playing epis and was ttly clueless when they were talking about the new episode. So, just to make sure you don't make the same mistake as me--they're still playing new epis, on FOX Tuesdays at eight (or seven)

I'm asking my bro for a House soundtrack for Christmas if they have one

I tried watching House a couple of times the last couple of years and even though I think HL is great, I just couldn't watch all of an eppie. All of a sudden the last couple of months I really like it, go figure that one out . LOL
I remember seeing HL in the Stuart Little movies and thinking , he could be really cool if he was a bit scruffy, then along came House !!! Much better looking there IMO !!

Yes , you probably did. Thats where I started out on the USA forums. I think Monk is a great show. I just started watching House the last couple of weeks , so thought I would check this forum out too. There are quite a few USA shows I like. So many channels on TV and never anything good on, sound familiar ?

I was just wondering if any background was ever given on Dr. House, like does he have brothers or sisters, if his parents are alive, what he was like growning up, where he went to med school , etc. What made him the way he is portrayed on the series , kind of a jerk, huh ? The guy I love to hate and then think ahh he could be lovable if only......... it is an enigma why I like him, (House )

I"m not sure about all of your questions, but he has parents. A few episodes his dad died. He is the way he is because his ex-g/f made the decision for him to keep his leg...so it basically takes his anger out on the rest of the world.

Welcome to the board!

I had read that HL is in a couple of bands , does anyone know if they have any cds out or if is just for fun ?
I watched the "Teardrop" video yesterday, love the House theme music. wink.gif
I am watching the 2005 "Flight Of The Phoenix" right now , Hugh is a clean cut guy here, I think I like the scruffy House better !

He's in a band called Band from TV. The group specialises in blues and soul covers and is fronted by some of the biggest names in US network television drama. Laurie's fellow band mates include the Desperate Housewives star James Denton on guitar and Greg Grunberg, known for his role as a mind-reading policeman in Heroes, who keeps rhythm on drums.

Thanks !! wink.gif Someone had asked about a House soundtrack, I believe Amazon has it. I have been checking out E-Bay too, all kind of House merchandise, T's , calendars, etc. I am currently trying to learn some of "Teardrop" the House theme on an old keyboard I bought for my son many a year ago. I dont have the right keys ,but enough to play around with it.

Just wondering if anyone know what kind of motorbike Dr. House has. Makes me want to go out for a ride. wink.gif
Also, are they eppies from real life medical cases?
Thanks for any replies

I did quite well myself via Ebay. Bought the first 3 seasons for around $50. I already have the first 6 Episodes of Season 5 in HD-DVD Quality from a place called Graboid.com. Check it out. It gives a free 5 gig download for trial and it's only $5 more after that to upgrade to $10 a month. I was able to get 8 Eps of House (all of Season 5 that is and 2 from Season 3 that didn't burn from my DVD so well). I then downloaded 5 movies or 6, can't remember. Just pay attention to what you are doing and sort by name. Do not get the ones with minuses by their names, this is a grading from other downloaded telling you the movie didn't play for THEM. The pluses of course are positives. Also check out the FLAG at the end. You don't want to download a French version unless you are French. And lastly, around 700 to 800 meg gives you a perfect view on your computer and conversion to DVD, anymore is a waste.

Hope that helps. Graboid, also owns Binmonkey.com (same rules apply there for the most part but you only get 4 gig free). I prefer Graboid myself. Now I just have to wait to end of month and go downloading again. It's pretty nice especially if there are films you cannot find or want right now. Or for those checking out TV Series like House and want some background NOW or missed a specific Episode, etc. It takes a few weeks before a new episode is posted. Right now they are on Episode 6 of Season 5 "Joy".

Have fun either way! Check out posts and other topics before asking plain questions and always feel free to ramble on about that man call Greg we love so much. I think his middle name is Grinch.

I'm still wondering what "The Jerk" was carrying when he was so impressed with his erection as to show it to Cameron and Chase. Was the boy packing Holmes style or what? And with that thumb, God, if he was a righty, had to be a pain in the arse or elsewhere. Just babbling. Welcome to the pack!

Good Care

Keep listening, seriously, because this show above most others I've ever watched has seriously stolen my CD collection and now I can only enjoy them by watching the show which I hate but am forced to watch if I ever want to hear the music I love so much. All kidding aside, check our Bird York "In the Deep", the 3 minute album version is perfection, but if you like the mood music end of things, grab the 5 minute version re-edited for the show. Also, Elvis Costello, surprising the producers of House immensly when he remade "Beautiful" a song really meant more for him than anyone I can think of because the lyrics ring way more true for him than anyone who really is Beatiful, per se. Elvis remade it with brilliance and heart and it takes on a whole new meaning and anyone who doesn't know who he is and you feel alone and outside your classmates or workmates, give him a listen, check him out, he is really Beautiful. We further have the late great Jeff Buckley, drowned drunk in a river, a wonderful thing for a friend like Chris Cornell much less his family to bear as he sings for us a great diddy by the recently inducted genius we call Leonard Cohen, who also are worshipped by U2 (check out Night & Day remix by U2 for some beauty from this man and the new regieme). Jeff does Cohen's song "Hallelujah" and it is gorgeous and juicy and reverant and awesome.

You are tipping your toe in a plethera of genius music and with a venue such as House to deliver it, we are double struck by lightning.

(Sorry if I went off on the 'prose' too much guys)

The bike is a Honda Respol if I'm not mistaken and very well could be. Not all up on em' myself.
Very many of the shows are based sometimes on specific medical cases from real life, so yes to your question in general. Other times, various parts are stuck together in puzzle manner. But for the most part, they really like the element of using actual cases so they cannot be questionned on whether something can really be done and all that guff.

Hope that helps mate.

By the way, trivia wise, the bike was bought when Wilson, the oncologist and only friend of House loaned him 5 grand for what he thought was a car purchase. The 5 grand was just a test on how far Wilson would go to help a friend out. It's a great scene, check out the Episode. It the one where the young black college student keeps getting schocked over and over from the inside. I forget the name of the Ep, it's around Season 2 though I believe but cannot be sure, shoot it could be 3 as both seasons are in a play list of mine on my computer. Anyway, he picked up the bike due to a little girl he saved from an Ep named "Autopsy" in season 2. The bike, some of us believe, is a change for House and started as almost a return hug to a little girl who was his patient. At least the producer and I saw it that way. Sorry to babble, it's what I do and most are getting use to me I believe.

You take care and keep the questions coming, we enjoy them. Don't worry just keep it here, don't make a but of new topics unless it REALLY is a whole new idea of questionning. Cheers.

Also I read he is in a movie that is in production called "Monsters VS Aliens" I was amazed when I read his bio. A lot of different talents there !

In almost every scene where you see House playing music he is NOT playing 'live'. They pre-record in a sound studio and then he mimics playing. Yes, it is he who recorded the playing but which helps him mimic the playing of course. Hope that made sense. I will say there are a few times where I've noticed that it was pretty close to not be live. Anytime two cameras are used, he is not playing all the time, but when one camera is on him, he could be playing. I specifically apply this more-so to the later seasons, 4 and 5, especially 5, that he might be playing live.
But production wise, it really is easier, better sounding, etc., to pre-record no matter what and then tape the scene of mimic'd playing.

Yes he is very eccelectic in his talents and hobbies. He writes music, founded his own band, can direct, acts, juggles, also to know he has I beleive a Ph.D. in Philosophy AND Anthropology to boot, worked on many Brit comedies which in itself gives him a star in my book,
I have the same blessings but for me they've become a curse because I cannot grow any of them.

I have the talent for business, I compose, sing, play piano and guitar, can hear a whole band in my head, lyrics flow like a river, i paint, sculpt, i am an empath and can read people pretty quickly more than they'd ever think anyway and I love writing poetry, prose, novels, essays are my fave though I think but I hate the damn keyboard. i want to just talk and have it record and spit it all out on paper for me and i want it done NOWWWW. I know the tech is there but I haven't the hook up to do it for me or the patience to do it myself. Plus, I don't want to have to talk like I am a first year dribbler all monotone and same speed and tenor, screw that. I want to talk fast and get it down. I need a damn secretary, that's it!!!! Somebody buy me a cute dude that will transcribe everything I say. No, no dudes, I would be distracted into getting with him or something. Yea, I'm a lover not a figther. Anyway....don't give up on the show and watch it over and over so you can see all the things you missed the third time round! 8)

No brothers or sisters, an only child to a perfectly adoring Mother who avoids confrontation and could ignore the largest deformity with her Super Wall of denial. His father was abusive but loved him in his own Marine way, as he traveled around from base to base around the world, giving him a one up on reading people (how I earned my super human skill as well), and also learning about different cultures. He is more like his Father than he will ever know or ever will come up in the show. His father use to abuse him with ice baths, making him sleep outside, not speaking to him for a whole summer, lotsa neat Dad things like that.
He grew up and although being in team sports ended up the rebel medicine man of college and med school. He went to Johns Hopkins and ALMOST got he Doyle Internship but was beat out by some tattle-tale we will Weber von Lieberman ('way evil' sounding eh?).

He is a Board Certified Diagnotician and has double specialties in Infetious Disease and Nephrology.

He was hired on at Princeton Plainsborough teaching hospital, much like the local University in your hometown has. Lisa Cuddy an old 'friend' from college hired him on after 4 or 5 others had fired him for being....umm....House in the only word I can come up with and it's 'pithy'.

From there on he avoided patients until he got his own series! Heh. Jut kidding. He had a girlfriend named Stacy with whom he was with about 5 years or more I believe, I think more. When he had a infarction in his leg go untreated by brilliant doctors like Cuddy, he lost a lot of muscle due to necrosis. His flesh just kept dying while they stood around with their thumbs up their butts trying to see him as just a drug seeker. I must say at this point I have NOT yet see House give anyone in the clinic any good medicine like his yet. Is he a hypocrite? He should be handing out Percs and Vics left and right if he really beleives in his pain theory. ANYWAY, I digress, which I what I do best, (do I see me as Kathy Griffin yet, I am she, you caught me, no not really, I lie a lot too).

He and the girl we kaput and later she is re-introduced when she has a husband with a medical problem.

Go get the DVDs off Ebay and get to watching and watch in order or I will find you and you will know HOUSE BEFORE I AM .....(counting to ten)........(thinking of puppies).....You get em when you can and watch em and we will talk more later. I have to take my meds now.

I saw parts of this on the Thankgiving House marathon ( catching glimpses when I could) If I remember right Cuddy came to his rescue and House only had to spend 1 night in jail and I dont remember what else. I am sure their are many other people who know a lot more about it. Maybe they will let us both know. wink.gif

I only caught a couple of minutes of the prime time House ep last night and wondered why Dr. House was using his cane in his left hand, did I miss something ? I always see him using the cane in his right hand and resting his right leg.
Did anyone else notice this last night ?

OK, I am a House addict now. If I am lucky it comes on about 10pm just when I am winding down for the day.
I look forward to seeing the scruffy looking HL every night now. wink.gif Love those blue eyes !!

It is indeed a Honda Repsol. One of the fastest Honda racing bikes ever. I believe it is a 1000 cc cafe bike, which for a "Crotch Rocket" is excetionally fast. I happen to know this because I used to be a finance manager at a Honda Motorcycle dealership in Northern Michigan. The bike is as hot as House is!!!

I know what you mean, I feel the same way. I am starting to understand Dr. House a little more now and find him more amusing now than I did. Now I see him kind of like the bad boy I would like to hang with for laughs. It would be kind of scary having him as your doc though after seeing some of his finer diagnostic tactics .. LOL
I am watching a CSI Miami ep from 2004 and they have the Teardrop song ( House theme) playing as their background music.

There was a House marathon yesterday and of course I was out of town,Yea, thats my luck all right.

He went to Johns Hopkins and ALMOST got he Doyle Internship but was beat out by some tattle-tale we will Weber von Lieberman ('way evil' sounding eh?).

You either A) Have a lot of time on your hands, or B ) Have a lot of time on your hands. Cause that's just A LOT of detailed info!!

As for von Lieberman...House got his paybacks when Lieberman came to the hospital to do something and House screwed it up for him.

After watching House for a few months now I can't imagine him acting any different then he does , although it would be nice to see him let his guard down once in awhile , there has got to be a lovable guy in there somewhere, its nice to see him smile once in awhile.

Hope you all have a nice Christmas !

4thecaptain,
Nice to see someone else from Michigan on here, as well as a fellow House lover! I find him so very sexy!! I was researching him on Google, because I was curious to hear what he sounds like in real life, with an English accent, and strangely enough, he's just not as sexy!! lol

That may be true sometimes for me, but in this case the tech did not install Java and others that I needed to get around online and forgot to tell me my puter did not have a modem !! I needed one to get me through until I get high speed, just a few minor things !! Ha !!! Yeah, this computer was " ready to go " alright !! Many trips back and forth and me trying to carry it all myself, I was not happy. Idiots !! I wish I would have had House with me to tell them off, I am sure he could come up with something very appropriate for the situation.

Thanks Purplerain and others that helped me understand where this show started. Im a house addict also, and I didnt know there were cds and music. look out ebay and amazon. Nice to meet everyone. if I remember right, his friend (?) bailed him out of jail, then took his car and left him standing there. I might be wrong, if I am, it still sounds like house. The show where the unborn baby wrapped his fingers around houses finger showed some emotion. A couple of his shows has almost made me stop watching him. I tell myself its his drug addiction.

Congrats to Hugh for winning at the SAG Awards !!

Wilson come back !!! Please !!!!!

I thought those of you in the medical profession should be aware of
these new drugs. You who are not, well, you should know too.

These are the new wonder drugs that will soon be available:

Peptobimbo ... Liquid silicone for single women. Two full cups
swallowed before an evening out increases breast size, decreases
intelligence, and improves flirting.

Dumerol ... When taken with Peptobimbo, can cause dangerously low
I.Q. causing enjoyment of country western music.

Flipitor .. Increases life expectancy of commuters by controlling
road rage and the urge to flip off other drivers.

Antiboyotics ... When administered to teenage girls, is highly
effective in improving grades, freeing up phone lines, and
reducing money spent on make-up.

Menicillin ... Potent antibiotic for older women. Increases
resistance to such lines as, "You make me want to be a better
person ... can we get naked now?"

Buyagra ... Injectable stimulant taken prior to shopping.
Increases potency and duration of spending spree.

Extra Strength Buy-one-all ... When combined with Buyagra, can
cause an indiscriminate buying frenzy so severe the victim may
even come home with a Donnie Osmond CD or a book by Dr. Laura.

St. Mom's Wort ... Plant extract that treats mom's depression by
rendering preschoolers unconscious for up to six hours.

Anti-talksident ... A spray carried in a purse or wallet to be
used on anyone too eager to share their life stories with total
strangers.

Sexcedrin ... Bedroom aerosol spray for men. More effective than
Excedrin in treating the, "Not now, dear, I have a headache,"
syndrome.

Ragamet ... When administered to a husband, provides the same
irritation as ragging on him all weekend, saving the wife the time
and trouble of doing it herself.

Jack Asspirin .. Relieves the headache caused by a man who can't
remember your birthday, anniversary or phone number.
