rolleyes.gif We are all drawn to LOCI for different reasons. I think it would be interesting to see the ages, gender and reason for the draw. Youngest to oldest and all us in between. What keeps bringing you back to LOCI ?? I am 60 years young. I am woman {watch me roar } and for me the draw used to be the storylines and characters. Now it is the characters and storyline. Who am I fooling? It is Vincent, Vincent, Katherine and then storyline. rolleyes.gif

I'm a 51 year old woman. Logan drew me in, then Goren stole my heart! The fascinating plots have kept me on the edge of my seat and the character stuff has been an added bonus for me.

Im 19 and im female ... i started watching LOCI becos my step dad told me to watch it and see vincent becos he reminded him of an older version and my fiance' and i was hooked after the time .. i love the stories and i LOVE looking at vincent smile.gif

Seventeen, female, and Vincent. The dark humor and intelligent writing are a plus, but I'd be fooling myself if I said it wasn't mostly due to him.

I'm 44, female, and a nerdy engineer/scientist, and I've been watching LOCI since the beginning. I tuned in at first to see "Edgar" from Men in Black play a serious role. I thought VDO was brilliant as "the bug".

What kept me hooked was how smart the show is. The plots are so intricate that they usually keep me guessing until nearly the end. Plus, it's just plain fun watching Dets. Goren and Eames catch the bad guys. I liked the pairing of Logan and Berek, too, but Logan's other partners kind of left me cold. Of course, getting to watch VDO do his thing every week has been a bonus. smile.gif

I'm thirteen years old and female. I first started watching Criminal Intent last year in the late fall/early winter when I was home sick from school. My mom was watching a marathon. I really didn't want to watch it then. Can you believe that? She told me to keep watching it, and I got really into it. I think it must have been the complex plots, and watching Goren and Eames figure everything out that got me hooked. I found it really cool how they could dig up all that information and put it together to find out who committed the crime. As I continued watching it, I began to understand the characters more, and now I have to say that I'm addicted because of the characters (specifically Goren and Eames). It really annoys me when I turn it on and Goren and Eames aren't in the episode. I haven't been able to get into the Logan/Barek and Logan/Falacci episodes at all. However, I like some of the episodes with Wheeler in them. So, I'd definitely have to say that Bobby and Alex keep me drawn to the show the most, followed by the complex storylines.

I'm 35 and female and Bobby drew me in from the beginning. Figuring out the storylines came later...and sometimes still does! LOL

I am 42, female.

I have been watching VDO for as long as I can remember. I am not sure what caught my eye about him. I started watching Law and Order, the mothership, because I have been into cop shows for forever. I moved into SVU, but found some of the subject matter hard to handle. It took me quite a few episodes before I could really get into that one. When CI came on, I was hooked from episode One. The storyline hooked me from the beginning. I loved the Goren character and was thrilled when I realized it was Vincent. He fits the role perfectly. I love his facial expressions. He says everything, without really saying anything sometimes. I loved the team up of Goren and Eames. They just play off of each other so well. The episodes where he was going through his mothers illness and death, came at the time where I was going through similar issues with my gram (who was more a mother to me than my mother was). I felt connected to the character and it helped me deal with what I was going through.

And, I have to be honest and say Vincent just makes me drool, so I have to keep watching just to see what the man will do next!

I am 37 and 11/12ths laugh.gif and female. I watched Untethered and CI for the first time last year and have been hooked ever since and have caught up with all 7 seasons in a few months thru DVD's, USA and Bravo and although I love VDO and Bobby, Logan has grown on me quite a bit, not so much in season 5 but in the later seasons, oh yes. I know I will miss him. sad.gif I love the casefiles even though sometimes I have to watch them again and again to 'get it' sometimes. I miss a lot of things.

I am a 45-old female. I first saw VDO in Full Metal Jacket and I felt sorry for him. It wasn't his fault. They made him snap. They I remember reading about him in Adventures in Babysitting and I couldn't believe it was the same guy. Then he started popping up in movies, Mr. Wonderful, Dying Young, playing a guy that I could have really fallen for. I liked him better than the ever-arrogant Will Smith in Men In Black too. I kinda like him as a bad guy too. Such an edge, always looks like he could snap, but it wouldn't be his fault. He has such a sweet, tender face. My husband and I have watched CI from the beginning when my husband read that "that guy you like is on a TV show". I was suprised that he was doing a weekly TV show. Usually actors come in as unknowns and they get popular. He was already a known actor.
lady_mephisto86
I am 21 and female (as if my screen name didn't give my gender away lol tongue.gif) and I've always loved the L&O franchise for as long as I can remember. It started with SVU, then I watched a few episodes of the Mothership in the early seasons with Logan and Greevy/Ceretta/Briscoe and needless to say, I became a huge Logan/Noth fan. Then I learned about him being on CI and started watching those episodes then eventually I decided to watch the episodes with VDO and became hooked on those too! lol. I do find VDO's acting quite unique but fun to watch, I always like him when he's playing the quirky character. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a sweet piece of man candy but I'll always have a soft spot for Noth smile.gif

Sometimes I have to watch them over and over to "get it", too, Cifan! As much as I love "whodunits", I'm terrible at figuring them out. Maybe that's why I like them so much--I love surprises!

I can remember what I said to myself the first time I watched CI. I had been watching SVU, I didn't really care for the original, I had the hots for Stabler. I said, I like this show (CI) but I will never fall for this Goren Character he is just too goofy and geeky looking," lol. Look at me Now!.

Hello I am a 45 year old female, on my profile it says that I was born in1968--I was not and ever since I signed up I can not find a way to correct it. Anyway, I may be a newbie to the forum but I have been a fan of the show since the beginning. I never thought his way was unique or weird I always thought of it as very fun to watch. Even after watching each episode over and over I always make a point to watch the last five minutes with intent. Do I need to say more.
amylouuxo
Newly 16, female, and I'm totally not sure what drew me to the show. Maybe they all swallowed magnets too =]
I heart them =] I just love the chemistry between Goren and Eames (friendship and otherwise (shhh I'm a shipper, okay?))

I'm female and 39 years of age. It was Vincent who drew me in. I remember when it was announced that he was going to do CI and i knew that i had to check it out. I got into it pretty late, i think season three. I remember watching an episode (the one with the fake psychic and Bobby Canavale) and thinking 'i really like this show' and it's Vincent that made it for me. As i've been introduced to Logan in seasons five and six, i must admit, i like him a lot but Goren holds my heart.

biggrin.gif So far our youngest fan is a bright 13 year old girl and the oldest is me. Come on there has to be some golden oldie older than me intrested in LOCI. And guys don't be shy step up to the bat and let us know your draw. So far it's Vincent, Kathryn, Chris Noth and storyline. Thanks for the great feedback biggrin.gif

I'm a 27 yr.old female, and I've been hooked since the begining. It wasn't so much the story lines, and they were and are great, that got me it was Vincent's acting. He has a way of making you forget that your watching t.v. or a movie, instead making you feel like your watching something that's really happening to a real person as it actually happens. (Does that make sense?) I gotta admit in season 1 I didn't look at him as (don't burn me at the stake for this) the walking sex god that he is, that didn't happen till season 2. But despite the fact that I drool and lose all coherent thought when I see the man it's still his acting that makes me keep watching. It is truely the only show ever, that I have to watch no matter what is going on.

I am a 57 year old female. I have never watched much TV and still don't except for LOCI and news programs. My elderly mother has always watched all three Law and Order shows. A CI re-run comes on satellite here at 7:30PM followed at 8:30 by SVU. Mom would never miss her "shows". I often heard her say "that tall fellow is weird" or "he gets on my nerves" but I never knew who she was talking about. Since I was working all day, Mom often found the time long. In an effort to spend more time with her, I decided to watch Mom's "shows" with her as often as I could. This was in 2004. The first CI episode I saw was "Jones" and I was hooked. I didn't even know that it was a re-run. I found the story really interesting, Vincent fascinated me and I liked the Goren/Eames relationship. The interrogation room scene in "Jones" clinched the deal. Vincent was like poetry in motion. I remember thinking "Man, this guy is really good" and incredibly HOT. I immediately started searching for other episodes of LOCI and found one at 10:30PM and another at 1:30AM every night, always different shows. I began watching them all. I was in VDO/LOCI heaven but I was often tired at work the next day. I really didn't catch up on all the past episodes until I retired last year. Now I have them all downloaded and I still re-watch them over and over. The fascination with Vincent has never waned and as a matter of fact, it is now stronger than ever.

Bottom line: For me the main attraction was Vincent, then the G/E relationship followed by the good storylines.

I am a 74 year old woman who started watching LOCI for the intelligent writing and plots, then for the interesting character build by VDO in the part of Goren. Before I knew it I was absolutely hooked on Vincent, began researching his older movies, watching interviews and videos, and when a critic said of him "he has a palpable screen charisma" and "he is arguably the finest actor in America today" I just smiled and said to myself, "That's not the half of it." At my venerable age, I've seen a lot of men, young and old, good and bad, but I have never, ever seen any man as sensual as Vincent, nor as charming, and everything I learn about him seems to reinforce those impressions. He loves his art, his calling. He's honest and moral, keeps friends for years, adores his children, doesn't play the shallow Hollywood games and obviously loves women - no one could make love on film the way he does if he didn't love women. Goren could have been just a quirky police detective in a crime show, but Vincent made him a lovable, fascinating man we all wanted to know more about with each episode. As I said, at my age I have gained a little wisdom, and I have learned to spot the imitations from the Real Thing - Vincent is the genuine article and all of us, regardless of age, find him endlessly intriguing, beautiful and irresistible. I only hope that he knows that. I also hope that he sees to his health because we need him to be around for us for a long, long time. We need beauty in our lives and he is a superb actor and a thoroughly beautiful man!

I'm 40, female, stay-at-home mom of 2 kids. Started watching b/c it was a new L&O that seemed different and interesting. Also b/c it had the "bug" from MIB staring in it. Stayed b/c it was different from mothership and cases more diverse than SVU. Hooked b/c love VDO and KE and all the cast, including the guest stars. Now love VDO as an actor and am slowly getting around to watching his movies.

I'm 47, and my husband wanted me to watch LOCI because he loved the show, and thought I would as well. He was right! I started watching it and fell in love with the story, and then thought Bobby was hot with his good looks, sexy voice and great actor. Then when I became addicted, my husband had to order the DVD sets.

36 and female. I started watching CI in the 2nd season. I really liked the story lines first. VDO/Bobby came 2nd. I maybe be the only person here who actually likes the atlternating between Goren/Eames and Logan/Barek/Wheeler/Fallacci. I just look forward to watching new episodes of CI. Period. LOL

I also started watching L&O for the plots. Sorry to say, but with such a load of nonsense on tele I found it more and more difficult to get something that mentally stimulated me and/or draw me in. I get bored easily unless something grabs and holds my attention - and then I dont let go...

Anyhow, when I first saw L & O, I was immediately hooked...But it took me till the THIRD SEASON of CI before I began looking at Detective Goren with googly eyes!!!...honestly. The first 2 seasons (like with the others in the L & O franchise) I just watched for the plots. How the bad guy got caught (and sometimes not) - It kept it real for me...

And then the 3rd season came along...and I have NO idea what it was, but Det Robert Goren suddenly began looking like my kind of man. (heavy drooling here!!!) Every episode I watched of that season made it more and more clear to me...This is the man I WANT!!!!!! The man who won't mind me reading my Dostoyevski and Tolstoy in bed, while listening to Bach, Mozart or Rachmaninov in the background. Who wont mind all my chess sets and won't BOTHER me while I'm watching a 5-day test series between India and Pakistan or SA and the Aussies! (although I think I'm pretty sure he does not know much about cricket...I WISH I could ask him...) And finally a man who wont run away because I know more than they do...

Well, at least now you all know why I'm still single...Because that man only exists in my dreams (and on CI!)

That's why I'm a Goren fan...And I admit unashamedly, that I have fallen in love with Detective Goren - his smile drives me crazy - the way he scratches the back of his head or neck...his hands and finger movements when he's interrogating his suspect (in my culture, we also "talk" with our hands a great deal!) his eyes and mouth when he's thinking deeply about something (man, dont you just want to KISS that!!!)

Now, to Kathryn Erbe. Aint she just perfect? I mean, I watched the last episode of Season 3 again last night, and it once again astounded me how she, even though she does not always know what's going on in Goren's mind, plays along with him so well...She sometimes challenges him, because she knows he'd appreciate it - she backs him even if she has very little clue of where he's going with a certain line of questioning - And she complements him (or rather, the 2 of them complement each other) like a long-married couple who completes each others' sentences....

Anyhow, like I said in one of the other threads, we are well behind the rest of the world as far as CI is concerned as it was bought by the national broadcaster and not digital sat.tv. Therefor, I still have 5 seasons of CI waiting for me! And I can live with that (on that?) In the meantime, I watch my dvd's!

So, first plot. Then G&E. But nowadays, its mostly Det Goren that keeps me coming back for more...and more...and more... tongue.gif

Goodness! I did not even realise that post was so long!

Sorry - I will try and keep it shorter! (its Goren's fault - he gets me talking me no-one else can...and makes me forget the time! I have accounts to do!!!!)
DetectiveC
I am a 39 year old female. The first time I watched CI, I came in during the aria, and Detective Goren quite honestly creeped me out. In that episdode, he was particularly intense and in the perp's personal space. Anyway, my husband seemed to like the show (he'd watched it a few times on business trips) and convinced me to give it another chance. I've been hooked every since. I investigate cases under civil law, and while they may not be as exciting as the criminal cases on CI, they nevertheless require me to use my brain and sift through the evidence. I always wish conclusions could come as easily and quickly for me as they do for Detective Goren. His epiphanies astound me . . . which brings me to my infatuation with him. I love intelligent men! My husband is similar to Goren in that he is also very bright and has a seemingly unending supply of little tidbits of information locked in his brain. We call it his "gee whiz file." So, bottom line, Goren keeps me coming back for more, but I love Eames too. She's an intelligent and strong female.

I loved Logan in the "mothership," but quite frankly did not give him much of a chance in CI. I regret that now and am going to miss him. I've been trying to catch up with his episodes through re-runs.
Marciemom
I'm 49 (very darn close to 50) female and our local high school's secretary. I started watching CI cause it was another in the Law and Order franchise and I have watched them all. Bobby is definitely my favorite of all the shows and all the seasons. His charm and being so smart just holds my attention. I have a tendency to remember too much stuff--people don't always appreciate it either, I have learned, so I completely understand when Bobby doesn't get the respect he deserves for being so intuitive and bright. My kids laugh when I get personally involved in the episdoes, but they have learned to accept its their mom's personality, just go with it.

I am so glad this thread came to life again. It is pretty weird because I have been thinking of Bobby [Vincent ] alot today. It is nice to see some fresh opinions. I am befuddled by this Vincent {Bobby ] fasination. Never before has any star hit me quite like him. I tend to try and analize things too much and this is what I have come up with. There is some kind of underlining kindness in him that attracts all types .Men women , kids and dogs.He is drop dead handsome and he is just like us common working folks, so he can relate to us and we to him. Also a great part of his fan base are baby boomers probably from age 45 to 75 and he has sparked or rekindled us.He has also taught us through his example the art of aging gracefully and accepting ourselves the way we are. I could go on even more but I think I will slither off to the Am I pathetic thread. Thanks for posting and enjoy this forum. There are a great many witty funny folks here.

So what I really want to know, nananay is what DID you do with the life-sized cut out of Vincent rolleyes.gif ??

Right now I have him standing guard in the ladies room at my diner. It's called sharing my obsession. laugh.gif But alas all my girls are spending all their time in the ladies room. biggrin.gif I have no doubt that as soon as we are done having fun with him at the diner he will end up on my ceiling in the bedroom. The only way I can pull that off is if I convince my husband to play this new game I am inventing called " U B BOBBY!! " rolleyes.gif

This is so true. In some weird way, the show makes me feel better about life. I guess it helps having a character who exhibits so many fine qualities all the while being so hot.

Goodness! I did not even realise that post was so long!

Sorry - I will try and keep it shorter! (its Goren's fault - he gets me talking me no-one else can...and makes me forget the time! I have accounts to do!!!!)

Perfectly understandable. One could indeed rhapsodize on forever about Bobby. ~ sigh ~

The draw was probably the fact me and Bobby were so much alike. And he was funny!
xD!

It's great to see that Bobby appeals to all ages.

I agree. Vincent has done a fabulous job of creating a unique and wonderful, three-dimensional character that people are actually passionate about. Personally, I think there is a lot of Vincent himself infused into Bobby which is why that underlying impression of kindness remains constant no matter what type of behavior Bobby engages in to catch the criminal. The same can be said for the common working folk quality because that is how Vincent sees himself. The recent incident at the LA airport demonstrated it. Vincent has said that to him, sexiness is being comfortable in your own skin and I think he is right. It's a good message for all of us. The character of Bobby has certainly remained the epitome of sexiness despite his complete physical and emotional evolution over the past seven years.

OMG!!! I miss Bobby. Hurry-up Season 8.

I am a rabid Vincent fan, he is the only reason I watch the show, I'm 58 but my Mom who is 87 is also a fan of the show and Vincent in particular ( she has excellent taste in men), as Canadians we are waiting for CTV to put the show back on ( as well as NBC of course) note to any Canadians on this site CTV is listing C.I. on Jan.17th at 8p.m. with Law&Order at 9p.m. and S.V.U. at 10p.m. ( fingers crossed, knowing CTV it may or may not be on). I'll take anything I can get even repeats are welcome, television is so boring without my favorite show.

(Waves) Hello my fellow Canadian! smile.gif I saw the listing too, hopefully they won't make any last minute changes (they really should update the episode information on their site). Here's hoping we the viewers don't get jerked around when the new season starts.

57, female. First saw VDO just channel surfing, then watched Men In Black as Edgar. Later my daughter was with me and flipping channels, and said that is the same guy in CI that played Edgar. ohmy.gif My first thought that good looking guy needs to shave and no way he played the bug...then I got hooked on VDO...especially CI. smile.gif I just love the way he fills out a beautiful suit and tie..wooof...

I second that wooof!

I am 46 female and I first came upon CI one night when there was nothing on TV and I was bored. I don't remember the episode but Goren grossed me out and I thought he was Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. Then I kept watching and thought he was Ewww in a funny sort of way. Then somewhere I found out that he played all these very diverse roles in different movies. So I googled him. (Now I just like to oogle him. Harhar-crack myself up.) I had seen so many movies that he was in and didn't realize he had played all these different roles. Like MIB-we gave that to our son one Christmas -so I know I watched that a few times. Mystic Pizza I saw many times-and the thing I remember from that movie was his voice ::sigh:: Thor in Adcventures in Babysitting-I didn't believe that was him so I had to watch again to make sure LOL That is just a cute movie so I'd seen that a few times too.
Then Goren grew on me. I found him funny and flawed. I also loved his smarts and his compassion. And the anger he feels on behalf of the victims towards some of the "perps" really gets to me.

A big Hello from my Mom to all of you, I bring her to the computer everytime a new video pops up, most recently the one in Utah with his sister. She enjoys all the videos and reads the articles, but I can't convince her to touch the keyboard herself, she's afraid she'll make a mistake and break the machine. She and I are waiting very impatiently for new episodes, the repeat scheduled for this Sat. is not a Goren/Eames one so she will not be watching it, it's Goren or no one for her.

You are so lucky to have your mom to share the the fun with. She sounds really upbeat and great. I am with her. If it isn't Goren and Eames I am not watching it. I really hope I like Jeff Goldblum so I can enjoy the whole series. I have hope because he seems pretty funky upbeat altho he will just be a filler because it is Bobby all the way for me rolleyes.gif

Hi, I'm fifty and female and I liked how the bad guys didn't get away with their evil deeds. They got caught by cleverness and intellect not a gun. I remember liking Lenny off the Mothership then it seemed like they were only playing certain ones so I thought I'd try this one just because it was different. And I loved it best of all.

(Sharing a secret shame) I saw a commercial once where Eames stepped out of a doorway then Goren lurked out behind her and I thought he was going to be overbearing so I said outloud I'm not interested in watching that. ::Slaps self in the forehead with hand:: I was insane! Am I forgiven?
