How nice LOL don't forget ram/trixie either
I seriously can not wait for this episode, of course Stabler family will be involved but I am more happy in hoping that this Elliot vs. Kathleen drama will come to an end to say the least. I like Kathleen but I'm really tired of her drama. Time to pick on the twins.

Yes! I could not agree more!
According to my DVR Guide, there will be no new episode on 10/7. It's another Presidential debate. Or Vice Presidential. I can't remember. One of those though.
So "SWING" s/b the following week then, no? That would make this episode no. 3, right?

Wow...I don't even know what to really say here! I thought it was great! I didn't expect Kathy to punch Elliot though- calling him a bastard yeah but not the punch. Well Elliot was right, he's in the dog house...and I guess Olivia sided with Kathy on that one plus not to mention miffed that she didn't know anything about his mother. I don't really blame Kathy though, he didn't tell her what he was up to with his plans regarding Kathleen. Also, seems like Kathy kept in a good contact with Bernadette.
Eli was so cute! Little dark blonde curls hee
Another thing, I actually didn't really want to slap Kathleen this time around and I'm glad that her Grandmother sent her on straight and hopefully this is the end of her drama queen era.
More thoughts later as the days go on and I read other people's reviews
Oh yeah, in the beginning did anyone catched the name Porter? I knew that it wasn't our Dean but he did come to my mind with that name!
And, well, this is going to THRILL EO shippers: Olivia's biological father's name is Joe...same name as Elliot's father as we learned tonight!
I thought Ellen Burstyn did a great job and although I've heard that this will be her only appearance I hope it isn't- maybe minds would be changed to be open for another episode. I would certainly would like to see her again.

'swing' was great. ellen burstyn was amazing, i thought she really made the episode. i was laughing so hard at the photo album, im really glad we got to see a more personal side of elliot. even during the depressing parts, if they were talking about ell as a little kid i would just have this goofy smile on my face. some good e/o moments. and i giggled a tiny bit when kathy slaped him and called him a bastard. also when mom said she knew why kathy was so scared (of liv).

To honestly be voicing my opinions about this episode, i would be typing FOREVER about it! absolutley amazing. The writing was superb, each actor did their bid and did well, i was truly amazed at what each character brought into the episode. Each character played a significant part, and i was just astonished at all the little details they gave us. I was so into it, i did not bother to look at and admire any EO moments, i was so into it i did not bother to despise any EK moments, i was laughing as much as i was crying, i was feeling each and every character's feelings and it totally brought personal issues into this episode along with what SVU stands for. I am very happy and satisfied with this episode. It truly cleared many issues up for me about this show and it totally vitalized a new vision, or perspective about this show! it was that moving to me! call me a bit weird if you must! lol

Alright so I apologize if this is all over the place, but it’s late and I can’t seem to organize my thoughts so bear with me here. Best lines are without a doubt:
Liv: Maybe God remembered how cute you were as a carrot.
El: Why, because your spidey sense tells you she was a rape victim?
El’s mom: Well, I can see why you scare the pants off of Kathy.
Absolutely priceless...oh, please continue to bring back the humor--I've missed it. I also enjoyed seeing the range Chris showed in Elliot's character--so nice to see him break away and show some other emotions. I loved Kathleen during the swing scene--her acting doesn't always strike me as the most consistent, but I thought she did a great job with that particular scene.
A couple of questions: first off, if Elliot had really hit Kathleen as hard as he did when he found her after her overdose, wouldn't she have a bruise or something? I'm also a little confused about Kathy's complete change of heart. In one scene Kathy is completely against the defense's strategy to lie to the court about what happened and talks about how Kathleen can tell them what happened (which I interpreted as taking responsibility for her actions). Then we turn around and show Kathy in court slapping Elliot for forcing Kathleen to take responsibility. Did I miss something? Also, I’m not a lawyer, but wouldn't the judge have ordered a 7:30 exam after Kathleen's meltdown in court?
On the other hand, I loved the consistency with other things--Liv's line about being partners for 11 years (that's the first time they've actually commented on how long they've been partners, and it's actually fairly consistent with what they had previously established in Stalked). Also, I’ve always wondered if El has told Liv about his relationship with his father. This episode made it pretty clear that he had. It was nice to see that friendship between them, and I absolutely love how Liv is never afraid to tell him what she thinks.
I also caught the whole “Joe” thing with both El and Liv’s father. Hmmm…I wonder if that was intentional. And did anyone notice how El and his mother both had the same line about “needing to get some air”…like mother, like son. I loved those little details the writers threw in. Really great writing again!
And I may be opening up a can of worms with this one, but was it just me, or was El's wedding ring missing in the scene in the crib? It looked like he was wearing it earlier on, but I thought I saw a bare hand during that scene. Even though I’m not E/O or E/K, it was nice to see that tension between El and Kathy. It made it seem more realistic—there were reasons they separated that have not been resolved and that tension must still exist despite the fact that until now they haven't shown it. I’m sure there’s naturally still a lot unspoken between them especially when you throw them in a stressful situation like we saw this week.
I absolutely loved the scene in the crib. But Liv’s reaction to Elliot turning Kathleen in intrigued me. Personally, I agree with what Elliot did, especially after we saw what happened with Screwed. So why was she so opposed to it? Yes, it's one thing to protect your child, and maybe it's just that I don't have kids--but sometimes you have to let them accept the consequences of their actions in order to grow from it. But does anyone think that Liv’s reaction to wanting to help keep Kathleen out of jail might have had anything to do with her experience undercover at Sealview? There was something about that last look Liv gave El at the end of that scene, almost like she wanted so much to protect and shield Kathleen from experiencing everything she did while undercover. Just a thought...
I loved seeing the relationship between Liv and El’s family. It’s pretty clear how much she cares about them, and they are lucky that Liv was able to step in repeatedly to help out like she did. In fact, I wonder if we’ll ever see Kathy and Kathleen realizing the role that Liv played in helping Kathleen in this episode. The scene with the swing where she kind of wrapped her arm around Kathleen to take her away was such a motherly thing to do.
I also thought the scene with El's mom and the sand castle was great writing and so incredibly sad. And did anyone think that Liv might be seeing Serena Benson in El's mom in that scene at the cafe? That line about "trying to be a good mother”… such a sad scene too and phenomenal acting. Loved the snowflake story El’s mom told Kathleen. And you could just see Liv’s reaction to the story and kind of a newfound understanding of El.
Overall, really great episode again! I’m so excited about season 10 and can’t wait for next week. Maybe when Liv goes undercover is when we get the E/O TPTB and Mariska have been hinting at…hmmm, is it Tuesday yet?

WORD! This was a great episode. It really gave insight into who Elliot is and that thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of me. After ten years, it's about damn time we get to learn something truly personal about Elliot. I know we got the story about his dad from "Ripped(?)," but I liked that we actually got to hear about Elliot from other people. Does that make sense? Hahaha!
Ellen Burstyn was great. I am a huge fan of the movie "Requiem For A Dream," and I swear, if you've seen it, then you know - she was Sara Goldfarb all over again! ("I'm gonna be on television!" is now a chant in my mind!) I loved the whole beach house scene. And I have to say, Chris was just absolutely, unbelievably sexy during that whole scene. I LOVE his 5'o'clock shadow! Oh my God! He's like sex on a stick! Hahaha! I can't handle it! But back to the scene - I actually thought it was pretty heartbreaking. We all pretty much know how Olivia's childhood went, but it was sad to hear about Elliot's. The fact that his own mother had a gun pointed at him....that she unintentionally broke his arm in a car accident....it's killer. And I think it actually kind of upset Olivia to hear about it. I don't know, something I just got from her facial expressions...
How horrible was it for him to see Kathleen O.D.ed out in some abandoned dry cleaners w/ some dud lying on top of her?!? When he smacked her and she wouldn't wake up and he hoisted her up over his shoulder, I was like...."He's gonna break any minute!" It was awful!
Eli was cute, and I was happy for the Kathy screen time. You kind of get the feeling that this is going to be something b/w them now. Understandably so, but still. I hope it doesn't make too much trouble for them...
I liked Olivia in this episode. I was really thinking that she was going to be butting her nose in when she shouldn't, but after seeing this episode, I really don't feel like she did. I'm glad that she went to see Bernie (hahaha! Cute!). And it cracked me up what she said to Olivia about Kathy being frightened of her
I was also happy that Olivia was able to get Kathleen to see her grandmother.
My only problems with this episode were 1)the episode seemed rather long. Don't get me wrong, it was really good, but it just felt longer than it should have. And whoever made the comment about this feeling like a personal episode of "ER," I couldn't agree more. 2) How far away is Queens that Kathy could just show up w/ Eli at the station in Manhattan to tell Elliot that Kathleen snuck out the window? What?! Why didn't she just call him? 3) Kathleen. Alison Siko was good, and I wasn't completely annoyed w/ Kathleen, but I still would have preferred to have seen problems w/ Elizabeth. Maureen's had some issues, Dickie's got some screen time, Eli's got the cute baby action, where the hell is Elizabeth?!?!?!?!
And 4) I love Mariska. She is gorgeous, but seriously? She was looking kind of old in this ep. I know, bring on the hate, right? I'm hoping that she was made to look that way b/c she's still going through her Sealview crisis. Which btw, did anyone else catch how she told Elliot that he knew things about her that she would just rather forget? Do you suppose that she has told him about her undercover gig?
I can't really think of anything else at the moment. It was a really good episode. I enjoyed it for all of the Stabler-ness. Especially Elliot. I'm getting that warm fuzzy feeling just thinking about him in that beach house w/ that stubble. Ahhhh......sweet dreams for Sarah tonight!!
4.25 out of 5!
To Mad - you know, rabid "X-Files" fan that I am....Mulder AND Scully both had a father with the name William. AND, that is what Scully chose to name her and Mulder's baby. Near the end of the series. When they were officially "together." Do you think that means something?!?!?! SVU might be taking cues from X-Files?!?! Hahahaha! Just kidding bud!
Also, to everyone - the preview for next week is definitely Mariska in a blonde wig. I rewound and paused it like 3x! You can tell b/c her face just seems to transform into Jane Mansfield...
So far this season is pretty good! Bring on James Brolin and Chris Elliott (BEST NAME EVER!!!)!! And bring on the "sexy, compromising position!!" Sweet!
