Looking at both natalie's cars both audi's and then Sharona;s car which was a piece of junk. Natalie must be a smooth talker because Monk must be paying her a ton.

I believe, according to one of the Monk books, that the car was from her father (it was a gift to one of her aunts, who did not like some detail of it) after her Cherokee crapped out - and my assumption has always been something like that. (Nice having wealthy parents, isn't it?) Natalie has always had money issues with Monk. Sometimes she has to fight him to get paid, as Sharona did. I'm sure neither of them could afford to buy a new car on what Monk paid them.

I was kind of thinking that.

I mean I didn't want to just say the obvious that audi sponsers monk so they wanted their product in the show. I guess her parents just helped her out.

Although then again, in the Outer Space book, Natalie said that "I never accept money from my parents, not that they offer much," or something to that affect. But I also heard about her getting her car from her parents. It's a little contradictory.

I may be trying to justify for Natalie but money would be direct help, whereas a potentially castoff car would be 'recycling', I dunno...LOL.

I heard that the diamond car with the platinum wheels is quite popular.

I also have the gold plated diamond car, which is not quite as pupluar. LOL.

I believe that in the beginning of 'Genius', the check he was making out to her was at least $900. But then, if you take into account that at least part of that is the $300 (give or take a bit) for the expenses, like gas, wipes, phone bill... and then the cost of living in San Francisco, I still wonder how she manages to make it from one pay check to another. Plus, we have no idea how often he pays her. That might be a week's pay (which still seems incredibly little to live on is San Francisco with a teenage daughter) or two weeks, or maybe even a month.

I was thinking about Monk's money. We know he had $30.000,00 in a bank account. We know he had a pay-check of $5.000,00 for a job (genius epi) and that he gets some money (never knew how much) from the Police Department as a consultat. As he's far from work for heath treatment , I guess he still receives his salary as a cop, maybe a little less. So, money doesn't seem to be a big problem for him now. At Sharona's time, however, I think he was poorer because a pay check from Leo Otterman was about $1.300,00, if I 'm not mistaken, and his closet had only three or four suits (remember, the end of "goes to carnival"?) and it was really modest.

I just don't pay attention to these details. If Natalie is driving an Audi due to that company sponsoring the series I would expect to see product placement in the series and I don't see it as a reflection of anything more than that. So, in my mind it has nothing to do with which assistant was paid the higher salary, it was all about which advertisers were sponsoring the series at the time.

Sharona could have hung around - she would have had a Buick Lucerne and a couple of Audi's herself and still received the same lousy salary.

This is very true and pretty much how I see the whole car issue, I was only answering the question abnout how much she was paid with as much information as I had available. Product placement doesn't need our stinkin' reality check.

Whatever it is, it's not enough.
