Has any one seen the previews for this new show called the mentalist? Its Psych but without the funny. He says that hes not really psychic but just notices things? Can you say rip off? Has any one else seen this? Any one have any thoughts?

This topic has been raised several times. I was also upset when I saw the previews, but after watching the pilot, I found the show to be quite different from Psych.

Im probably not going to watch The Mentalist. It buggs me that CBS turned down psych, then like 3 years later is using the same plotline. I'm not going to bother with it.

Your right, it is a ripoff of Psych, only without the funny, except the guy admits that he USED to pretend to be psyhic but now he just acts like a really good cop, but in an odd way. For example, they were trying to wonder if this dead guy was sleeping with some woman and the main characters blurts out "impossible, hes gay" out of litterally no where and doesnt explain how he was able to know that and 5 seconds later the dead guys friend comes out of nowhere and says his friend was gay, its still a good show though and ill continue to watch it

any psych fan should atleast give the show a try because they might like it, its on CBS on Tuesdays

I hate cbs for the show. It's not terrible and it's kinda cool that we can actualy get some serious mysteries, but I don't even know when the show comes on. It's definitely not as good as psych and it doesn't even break the top 7, not even the top 10. I guess i'm just a sucker for crime shows.
