"There Might Be Blood" was SO close to being as good as the older episodes. (I'm a week behind and haven't seen the new ep yet.) It was SO CLOSE, but that also just made the differences more obvious.

I miss Crazy Psyhic Shawn. I miss the effervescent humor and zanyness. Why is he just a straight-up boring detective now? When Commander Barbara first confronted him on the rig, that was a perfect moment to break out a funny "I'm seeing things!" freakout routine, but no. All we got was a curt, perfunctory, "I'm psychic, I'm sensing this or that." I also missed the humor when he called Chief Vic and her sister to the house. And just... in general.

I don't mind his evolving relationship with Lassiter, but I think then we should focus more on Lassie's lovelife for the humor, and maybe do something new with Jules. In any case, this show does not work when it's mostly straight-arrow with just a few verbal humorous asides. :-(

So are looking for something like the dazzel and strech or the one in spelling bee where he scare the one cop into thinking there is an evil spirt there? Or both type of thing.

"Dazzle and stretch" was hilarious. Same with Gus trying to evade Shawn ("Not Thursday"; "like a jackal" haha!) in "From the Earth to the Starbucks." Or creepy Gus in the park in "Rob-a-bye Baby." The guys running, screaming, out of the sorority house in "Scary Sherry." Yeah, I miss all that wacky stuff. "There Might Be Blood" was close, but they missed a lot of chances for some inspired silliness. Lassie trying to impress Chief Vick's sister was pretty dang funny.
