leave the hubbies aside ladies !!! i still fancy vincent has many in common with bobby , some of bobby's quirks , gestures , maybe there is a background from vincent's life that slightly influenced the construction of his character. if you know something please be free to add that kind of information ...

In an interview, VDO was asked that question to which VDO said they are nothing like eachother. Then he added, "He's a lot smarter than me."

I've never seen him on an interview! I wish they would have both VDO&KErbe on the View, I love that show since they got rid of Rosie! Yuck! Talk about strange, she picked the short end of the stick, IMO.

If I'm remembering his visits to The View, VDO expresses himself with his hands kind of like Bobby does.
I LOVE his hands.

What I mean is, he can't seem to keep still. Some body part is always moving, tapping his foot, tapping his fingers, walking around while he's talking --- he probably is a very restless sleeper, too.

i wonder if he's twitchy in romantic situations ..probably this is why some fans love his hands so much ..his caresses must be very frantic...

Well, they look a lot alike
Left-handed
Very private
Deep thinkers
Love their mamas
Bobby used to laugh a lot more than he does now- - I think Vincent has a sense of humor
Hands, eyes....oh yeah...

That is fun to think about. I think I remember VDO mentioned during an interview that Bobby comes more natural to him now. I wonder if that means they are becoming more alike? From what I can gather of VDO in interviews, I would bet that they are both...
-Protective of children
-Respectful of woman and elders
-Responsible and humble
-Dedicated to their work
-Handle anger quietly and internally until they are pushed too far
Whadda think?

The thing is, Bobby Goren does not have a number of movie and tv appearances like Vincent D'Onofrio has.

They both have a voice that shows so much emotion and has suchdepth, richness and layers to it that I am still searching for a way to describe it. Right now I'm thinking of the soft creamy chocolate inside a good quality truffle.

I was struck by how quiet and shy Mr. D'Onofrio seemed on one of the talk shows. He seemed to really hate the publicity associated with the show. It seemed (to me) that if he could have disappeared into the sofa, he would have been quite happy. I can't see that happen with Goren, though he is far from an extrovert. I don't know anything about truffles, but this was my observation.

I agree and I would add ethical and perfectionist to the point of being obsessive to the list. Although Bobby has to use manipulation sometimes to catch the bad guys, we know that he is an ethical person. From all accounts, VDO appears to be as well. Bobby totally immerses himself in every case. No detail escapes his attention. According to Kathryn Erbe, Vincent is the same. His perfectionism nearly drove them all crazy and was a major factor in his eventual collapse in Season 4. She said he has since learned to focus on the major stuff and let less significant stuff go. One example of Vincent's ethics and his perfectionism relates to his portrayal of Orson Welles in "Ed Wood". He felt that he didn't give his best performance in that role and it haunted him for years until he wrote and filmed "Five Minutes Mr. Welles" and finally got it out of his system. IMHO, that is very Bobby like behaviour

Isn't it true, NLfann, that the episode where Bobby is standing on the church pews, he threw that in himself, and the producer's thought it was great and they kept it in? Is that right, it's always shown at the beginning of each show.

Well i suppose they are quite abit alike but i would say that VDO sounds abit more softer and gentle to the character of Bobby Goren who i suppose for the role he plays he has to be abit more into doing things with playing a detective
