Okay, tell me why "Marshall-Marshall" is not a running joke in this show.
Hey you meet Marshall-Marshall guess what he is a Marshall, and not only that he is a Marshall-Marshall. Really a Marshall-Marshall.
Meet his partner Mary-Mary.

They used that joke once, but they definately could have milked it some more. Of course, if they do that they run the risk of overdoing it. I think that an overused juke is worse than an underused one.
That is really funny though. "Marshal Marshall here."

I think Marshal-Marshall was an overused joke from the beginning, it's part of his quirk but I doubt he would find it funny for someone to make the joke in his mid-30s.
They did do the 'Mr.Mann' in TH and the 'Marshal Marshall Mann' in SBM, but don't think they'll make it a joke unless it's a blantantly bad joke by someone Marshall can give intense eyes at.

I have to admit, this is the only issue I have with the show. My theory is that before they gave the characters names, and perhaps when they were working with storyboards or whatever, they called FW's character "Marshall Man" and then later when push came to shove, they thought it would be clever to leave it as "Marshal Mann" (or "Marshall Mann", or however it's spelled--doesn't matter)", thinking none of us would catch on. And yet, it's hard for me to believe that they'd do it on purpose. Maybe they were drunk. Oh well, it's too late to change his name now, but I think it was a mistake.
Perhaps when they cast Fred Weller, they didn't realize that he'd quickly become a favorite and that he'd give the character such weight and substance, despite the number two role they wrote for him.
