It is a sister rivalry when a death on an off shore oil rig leads to a jurisdictional battle between Chief Vick and her sister, a Coast Guard commander, and guess who is stuck in the middle?

I forgot to look for the pineapple too. I liked this one too. I thought in the beginning that it might be too serious but there were some good one liners. I really miss the old goofy Shawn and Gus and it seemed like they came out in this episode a bit. I'll have to watch the rerun tonite.

This episode was amazing...as usual. I swear this show makes me so happy. I loved tonight's episode.
Alright dude, rock on with the first ever Psych shoot out! It was shot really well and there was so much going on during it. "GUS IS A TABLE!" "GUS IS A STATUE!"

Shawn and Gus bickering, Lassiter and Juliet being all friggin' hardcore, and the Chief not only discharging her weapon but bantering with her sister too. Oh yeah, I especially enjoyed Juliet telling Shawn to get out of there...ahhh, I cannot wait for the Shules episode in two weeks
Shawn saying, "Hammer time!" when he was talking to the sisters lol. I have a feeling that was a James improv though
I love how Shawn finally address Gus' food agression, "You have a problem!"
Lassiter's crush on Vick's sister was amusing to say the least. I enjoyed the end too. Lassie needs some lovin' every once in a while. Shawn and Gus thought it was amusing, but at the beginning Shawn going, "Creepy" made me laugh.
Yeah, I'm sad we only have two episodes left before their hiatus. I get so sad...I must start to prepare for my Psych withdrawal. I cannot wait for the new episode though
All and all though, I thought this was an excellent episode, as expected. Can't wait for the second showing...then I'm gonna buy it lol.

Being "Jan" in real life, it is always hard on a sister to live up the expections that your older sister set for you. I am more closer to my younger sister than I am with my older one, and never thought about sibling rivalry today like I did when I was younger to get better grades, to be as popular as my older sister. The show did a terrific job casting Jane Lynch as Kristen's older sister, Barbara. Even my son said, "OMG, they look like! Why do they look like?" People have often told me that I look like my sisters, so amazing job in casting the right person.
Seeing Barry Corbin was a treat. I always loved him in
Northern Exposure. John Badham did a terrific job in directing this episode (especially the shoot out scene). That guy is busy! Not only did he direct this episode and
Daredevils!! but also the season ender for
In Plain Sight. "Gus is a table." "No, Gus is a statue."

"When people are shooting, you are supposed to run away from it, not run towards it!" And Lassie gushing over Barbara, "Did Barbara see that?" That was freaken sweet. All in all, a good episode, but my favorite so far has been
The Greatest Adventure in the History of Basic Cable.

There were two things that made me laugh (a lot), just because of a lot of in-joking.
1) When Gus was typing in the password, I was half-hoping that the password would be "Jeff" or "Geoff" - I even said aloud "Look, it has to be [Geoff] (it's an Izzard thing).
Unfortunately, it was something lackluster like "Panther21".

2) The show has developed a sudden fascination with hammers (as murder weapons, both present and archived) - another Izzardian thing. I'm just waiting for the badger...

I think the actress that played Vick's sister looked somewhat like her. I think it made it believable that they were sisters.

Who is the actress who played Vick's sister, Barbara Dunbar? The full character & actor/actress listing for this episode is not listed on www.imdb.com yet. I am trying to connect to what movies and/or other TV shows I have seen her in.

The woman who played Vick's sister is Jane Lynch. She's been in lots of things. She's one of the usual cast in Christopher Guest movies (Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration). She was also very good as Ricky Bobby's mother in Talladega Nights.

As MarthanotGeorge point out Jane Lynch was Ricky Bobby's mother in Talladega Nights, Gary Cole who will be in Gus Talked into the Bank played Ricky's father! Jane guested on Monk during its second season as a marriage counseler in "Mr. Monk Gets Married". It was brilliant casting her. She is great!

Although I've been a fan of Psych since the first episode this is the episode that made me want to post on the message boards. The interaction between Chief Vicks and Commander Dunlap was nothing short of brilliant! I'm a huge fan of Jane Lynch so I was not only surprised, but delighted to see her in this episode. Although Jane has been on just about every sitcom on TV, the characters she portrays are often under utilized. I was happy to see that was not the case in Psych. I loved the inter-play between these two "sisters" so much, I can see a spin off in the works. This has also been the first episode of Psych that revolved around Chief Vicks. She's obviously someone who needs more air time. What a fun show to look forward to. I've watched this episode three times already, and can watch it again.

I really enjoyed this episode!!!
The interaction between Chief Vick and Commander Dunlap reminded me SO much of my older sister and I, it was spooky!!! I loved that Lassie was trying to impress the Commander!
This was more like the previous seasons of "Psych" than the last couple of episodes ( except for "Murder... Anyone? Bueller?"! That one was great!!!)
Besides, "There Might Be Blood" brought us a new CLASSIC Gus line:
"I am nobody's pawn, Shawn. I'm a queen."

I really liked this episode. I actually laughed out loud a bunch of times with this one. The table thing was hysterical. I do go to TVRage on a regular basis, although still havent joined. But I thought the review was great. The blurb about Entertainment Weekly is EXACTLY what I love about that website. I sort of knew about it but after reading exactly what the ETW writers said, I found is extremely funny and genius that the Psych writers found a way to make a stab back at ETW. I didn't understand that line in the show when Gus said it. That is why after every episode, I go over to TVRage and read over the little facts section. It fills me in on stuff I didn't understand or catch at the time. THis is what I love about Psych, so much is said during the hour show that can be funny or not but when you go back and read parts of the script or read why a particular line was written, I just have a huge amount of respect for the writers. That is a lot of factual info in one show and it takes talent and research to do that. It's something I could never do.

How about no love for Hicks: "I stabbed him with a knife and then I woke up." or how poor professor smell like onions! "Why does he smell like onions?"

All in all, another fun ep. THe only thing that bugged me was the overdubbing during the scenes on the boat, esp the opening scene. It was quite distracting. A few times, the actors lips almost didn't match the words. Not sure why there was so much overdubbing in this ep. I'd never noticed it before in other eps. But for me at least it def took away from the show somewhat, because it distracted me when it was too obvious.
I'm thinking the reason for the overdubs was that maybe they had trouble with sound during the scenes on the boat and oil 'rig'.
Still, a fun hour of tv. And Jane Lynch is always a joy to watch.

I love Chief Vick episodes. Steve Franks, in one of the audio commentaries for season 2 mentioned that they try to give Chief Vick an episode focusing on her every season. This episode is probably the Chief Vick episode I like best. Kirsten Nelson is such a beautiful and talented actress and she never seems to do much in every episode, but I guess that's understandable since the stars of the show are Gus and Shawn. But whenever she gets the chance to be featured, I think it's great.
Even though there was a lot of action in this episode, lots of high sea adventure, a gun shootout (the first ever, I think), in the end if felt like a very light, simple episode of Psych. And I really like it. Even when the dead geologist fell into Gus' arms, it seemed so comical, specially when the actor playing the dead guy was really going boneless on Dulé.
Everything seems just right in this episode, and there's really no cause for me to rip it apart like I have a couple of episodes early in the season. I just like it, no questions asked. I like how everyone has their part and gets to do their thing. There are a lot of hysterical moments, and some appropriate dramatic moments. I just love all of it.
In many ways it echoes a lot of the simplicity of Season 1 episodes. Honestly, Season 3 has been quite explosive so far. Lots of action, lots of big scenes and to go back to the simplicity of “There Might Be Blood”, seems almost refreshing. I find myself re-watching a lot of Season 1 episodes and I'm loving these episodes more with every viewing, discovering nuances and comedy bits I never noticed before.
That's one of the things I like about the show overall, the little bits that you can appreciate well into your 100th viewing. For instance, in this episode Shawn says “You what my bread and butter is? Bread and butter.” It's such a simple thing to say, but yet it's a complete overturning of one of our many favorite expressions. It's just one of the many favorite expressions that people love to say that has been ridiculed humorously on this show.
Each episode is just loaded with stuff. The lightning quick comedy bit about whether the chief was having a number 1 or number 2, mash notes, the computer password, Shawn's breath... they all come at you in quick rapid succession. And you find yourself laughing in quick bursts, trying to keep up.
And yeah, I love the visual reference to Jaws.
Props to writer Kell Calhoon, director John Badham, James and Dulé, and everyone else who worked on this episode. Great job!!
