Have a wonderful time in Florida, akgirl! I don't know exactly when filming wraps up on the set of BN (September, if I'm not mistaken?) - but there are some phenomenal Floridian BN fans who post here and will be happy to talk with you about visiting Miami and maybe even seeing some of the filming locations! Be sure to check this thread out for more info (and be sure to check the more recent posts, as some of the forum members lost their original login IDs during a recent systems upgrade - if you send them a private message, you'll want to send it to their most recent ID (I'm thinking of DanJ2, who I know lost his original ID of DANJ)...

Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post smile.gif Regarding the filming - I understand this year they are doing a split season. Does your post here mean that they will be filming all 16 epis at once?

I live in FL (but not in Miami) and I'm thinking if I have another month or something, maybe I could get down there and check out the filming. That would only work if I could be sure they were filming somewhere that I could find them on a particular day though. Yea, I'm sure they'd give me that info, no problem. LOL!

Check with the agencies that supply extras. Look on their websites, too.

OOOoooOOOOOo! I just saw something about that, an address on a site. Didn't see any websites though. Is there a list of those agencies that anyone knows of? I'll have to google! Thanks for the idea.

Welcome brenna. I don't know the answer to when they are filming. There are a number of posters that live in Miami and have been on some of the sights when they were filming. Hopefully they will respond to your post.

welcome Brenna!

To answer your earlier questions, yup, they are doing a split season (with episodes 1–9 airing in the summer and the episodes 10–16 in early 2009) so they are filming all 16 epis at once. They were filming episode 8 a couple weeks ago, so they must be up higher than that by now. Both showrunner Jeff Freilich and guest star Tricia Helfer have mentioned working until Oct. 2008.

The Miami film office lists the BN season 2 production
Wrap Date as: 10/15/2008.
That being said, schedules can change, as it's still early, and I'm sure the network is eager for them to wrap under schedule to save money, as well as to avoid any delays due to nasty weather that might come up during hurricane season around that time.

The Mimaiherald.com lists where productions are shooting, but for obvious reasons, they won't know far in advance:
see a sample here, as shows are required to get city permits to shoot, but don't always want huge crowds attracted.

the locations link that Philippa listed above is a great thread you should check out.

Have a great trip!

Interesting. I would expect a split filming schedule to go with a split airing schedule. That's what I'm used to seeing with other shows that have split airing. I bet you are right about the concern for the weather pushing them to film it all.

I sure wish I lived down there. Odds are I'd never be able to get to where they were filming when they were filming, but it would be nice to know it was possible. smile.gif

Thanks for the info, NatashaFatale. Man, the production crew must really be sweating things out this year with BN, what with the show running all the way through the entire hurricane season. I had no idea they would be filming through October. I sure hope this is another low-key hurricane year for Florida... unsure.gif

ETA: a quick hello to Brenna - hope that you are able to hook up with the fine Floridian BN fans!

WHOA! Stop the presses! Are they really filming BURN NOTICE here in Miami?
I live here and I can't believe I am missing the action (somebody's got to work!) mad.gif

No wonder I heard a co-worker mention she though she saw, *attention JD fans*, " a guy who looks like the spy from that show USA" leaving The Standard Hotel in South Beach. It must have been him! tongue.gif By the way, she confirmed the obvious, that he's" painfully handsome "(her words)

Now I am going to make a point to check out the production companies see if they need an umbrella holder for JD, Bruce or Gabrielle...it's pouring rain here non-stop. I just hope it's not going to ruin their external shots.

That's awesome that your co-worker got to see JD in action (I assume he was filming a scene when she saw him). He's incredibly handsome onscreen - I can't imagine how handsome he must be in person.

Sunnyisles, if I recall correctly, I seem to remember reading a post of yours where you spoke of wanting to get involved with the show - I think that would be so cool! If you do decide to get involved, you'll have to keep us posted on how it's going, 'kay? No matter how small the job, enquiring minds wanna know about it (yes, even the holding of the umbrellas for the BN cast, I wanna hear about it, lol!) smile.gif

I will for sure keep you all informed if I ever get a chance to work on the set.

By the way, today I was in Downtown Miami area running some errands when I saw some filming on the street. I got so excited that I just had to check it out - but later I found out from one of the crew that they were filming a mexican soap opera. sad.gif I was bummed not burned...

you can find more info on wikipedia. i saw it the other day and it said that they film the next town over from miami for alot of the scenes. Miami is only one location.

Thanks for the kind "welcomes."

Regarding being a slow hurricane year... well, there's one heading for us now. Wonder how it's affecting filming? They are already suggesting that people leave the Keys since there is only one road out.

-Brenna, who just went out and bought water and batteries, "just in case."

First of all Brenna, I hope you and your loved ones are safe if there is a hurricane and that goes for all the other Florida board members as well! Second of all, when does the last episode air, September 18th? If that's when the finale airs chances are they're already done filming, yes? Most shows are 3 weeks to a month ahead of air date I think.

ETA: Sorry I just saw Natasha's informative post regarding filming. OK I have no idea when they're going to be done filming then. Normally shows are about 3 weeks to a month ahead of air date, but with this now I have no idea.

Thanks, FiRocks. I'm in Tampa and I expect that we will be fine, but we try not to underestimate these things...

Hey Brenna, welcome!

Looks like Fay is headed your way. I'm here in SoFla, so we'll probably get a little bit of wind and rain, but I'd be willing to bet it won't be too dramatic here.

Aaaaanyway....there is a way to find out about filming schedules for BN. Sometimes the newspaper publishes the info if there is going to be a particularly interesting shoot that involves blowing stuff up.Also, there are a couple of Web sites that have information like who is currently filming in Fla., like the state of FL has something, as does the city of Miami. just google or ixquick some key words and I'll bet you'll find something.
PhilippaConnors
I was just reading an article about hurricane Fay in the Miami Herald - it said that meteorologists expect that Miami-Dade will get pelted with rain on Monday and Tuesday. Stay safe and sound, dear Floridian friends.

Thank you PhillippaConnors!

But, to tell you the truth, this storm probably isn't going to be much of anything. Honestly, my biggest concern is do I get the day off from work. If you're prepared, it's not really a big deal. Common sense should guide people's decisions.....wait, what am I talking about? I live in South Florida! There is no common sense here! This is one of the craziest places on the planet.

Nah, just joking. We'll be fine. Thanks!!

Here's some more sources for information on projects filming in the SoFla area:

Miami Beach Film Office
1700 Convention Center Drive
Miami, 33139
(305) 673-7070

Filmiami.org (Miami Dade Office of Film & Entertainment)
111 NW 1st St. Suite 2540
Miami, 33128
(305) 375-3288

City of Miami Mayor's Office of Film and Cultural Affairs
2700 S. Bayshore Drive
Miami, 33133
(305) 860-3823

That's not to suggest that they might give you any information on location shooting, but they are sources for what's in town shooting at any given time and what is upcoming. Sometimes there are specific dates for certain projects, which will give you an idea of what's going on. That's how I found out about the Marley and Me production. There's all kinds of info on these sites.

Good Luck!!
