I guess I just need to complain a little bit. I had to bring my computer to Geek Squad for a small problem, and when I got it back and hooked up again, I was unable to get into my account here, no matter what I did or tried, and after an hour of help from Aldebaran!
This kinda sucks. I've lost all my saved pm's, plus my low member number of 146, and my ranking which was high, I had over 3,000 posts here. This is something that shouldn't irk me but it sure does!
Thanks for listening, I can't say I feel better but at least my rant is out there for the admin or whoever else is in charge to read. Not that it will make any difference!

There have been a lot of casualties with this login change. I was almost one. What's most glaring is that we lost our one "Executive Assistant" when Bubba's account was ravaged. You'd think they'd have an extra couple of people just to help people retrieve their accounts. This isn't a case of people not signing in to the new system properly. Did you try to verify your account at the registration screen? I think some people kept going with that screen and created new accounts. I used that screen ONLY to verify my email account--the login screen and forgot password screens couldn't locate it. Once the registration screen verified my email address, I signed in with my old password and was able to get in. I don't think the same things have been working for the same people.

Glad you're still here Raven. I would be upset by the change in "rank", too. I hope someone reads this, but we haven't gotten much sympathy or help at all.

I'm hoping that by the time they get it all finished they'll make time to help out some of the disenfranchised here. The old log in page still pops up for me from time to time - like when i go to post but I'm not logged in. So I dont think the change-over is complete yet. Maybe once it is there will be time for fine tuning.

I hope.

That may actually be a fix--try signing out and then try to post. If the old login screen comes up for you, see if you can sign back in to your old account. ?

There's a thought. Oh, and you might be like me too - If you signed up under one name and then changed it - you'll have to try logging in under the OLD name. As they've thrown your new and much more treasured one, you know, away.
Why, I dont know, but there it is, in case it helps.

I wasnt. I changed it forever ago and ran up my ratings. Then, with the log-in merge, my name reverted to it's original form and I kept my 'Mandeville' stats.
At least, that's how I see it. What really went on and changed everything up, I cant say. But a mutation is better nothing, right?

WOW, is this messed up! See how now I am Raven1, not Raven8? I tried to use Raven1 first when registering, and it said it was taken so I went to Raven8. I just took yvette's advice and logged out, then in again, and up popped Raven1!! Okay, I'd rather be 1 than 8. Actually I'd rather have no number at all.
But anyway, I've tried all the suggestions mentioned here, with no luck. I hope you're right, Mandeville, and the kinks will be worked out and things will be back to normal again soon...but I'm not counting on it.

I recommend sending the admin a PM from your new identity and let him know the problem you're having logging into your original identity. Is the email address for "Raven" an aol email? If so, that's part of the problem. I had a problem a while back logging into this, my original account, because the USA Network system wouldn't email the password change to aol. So I created a new account and PMed the admin from that account. The admin changed my password and I quickly changed the email to yahoo instead of aol ... That might not be the problem you're having, but it's worth a PM to the admin.
The admin told me they may eventually be able to merge my posts from the other account into this one ...
I wouldn't rely on a new thread to get the admin to address a problem you're having with the board. I love you, Raven (and don't anyone start any Tami/Raven-shipping

), but I honestly don't think the admin's going to read this thread ... it's simply titled "my new identity", not: "HEY, ADMIN, I'M HAVING PROBLEMS LOGGING IN MY ORIGINAL I.D. AND NOW I HAVE
MY NEW IDENTITY!!!!!"
ETA:
Oops! The USA_Admin's mailbox is full right now ... I guess he's still hasn't cleared out the weekend's PMs ...

Tami, thank you! Yes, my original email address used here was an aol address. Now I know why I wasn't getting a new password sent to me. To create this new account I used my yahoo email. So now I'll try to pm Admin. With any luck he's cleared out his mailbox by now.
This is so great, thanks so much, I sure hope it works!
I had been wondering how you got your original account back, because I seem to remember that when you came back not too long ago you had your last name in your handle here, too.
I feel all full of hope now! Off I go to pm Admin.

Update...the admin's mailbox is still full. I've saved my letter to him and will keep trying to send it. But there are many admins! I'm sending it to Admin1 or Admin2. There's also a usaadmin. Tami, is one better than the other?

I'm now 1 anonymous user. I don't intend to be...that's just how it works for me. It let me keep all my stats and my screen name, but it never shows me as a membername at the bottom of the screen. Tried logging out completely for overnight, and it still comes up that way. It shows me at the top of the page as memebeck49--logged in, but down at the bottom, I'm anonymous.
Again with the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I don't ever want to lose my original membership. I'm not far away from losing the title of 'Top Dog' and moving on to the next one but I've saved as many of my favorite PM's to a disk as I can 'just in case.'
If I do lose it my new user name is going to be "Troll Patrol" and my new avatar will be the 'Three Billy Goats Gruff."

That should create quite a stir around here.
So, Meme, you're the anon poster -

Did you reset your 'board setting' that way or did the board set it that way for you?

I think what she's saying is she's not showing up on the bottom as a member in the room. She's showing up as "anonymous." That usually happens when you have your account set to sign you in as hidden, although there's another poster in here who doesn't show up in either place, even when they're in here and posting. If someone's not on the bottom as a member in the room, but they're in here posting, the count under "anonymous" should generally read at least "1." Guess things have gone a little haywire in here since the system changes.

Thank's for the explanation. I see that I am showing up as a member. I was going to change my user name, so I could post generally on the other shows' BBs and pick a name that reflected just one person. But with all this confusion, I don't want to mess things up. I had a heck of a time getting e-mails to arrive from this site to my e-mail address. In fact, I couldn't. I had to dig out an old Qwest e-mail address and use that. I decided to stick with MonkShowLovers when I post on Burn Notice, etc. I am hoping it is not too odd. I'm glad that this is my first time on these boards. At least I am not frustrated by inexpert change. I get enough of that at work.

I'm so with you, Raven! I just came back from four days in Vegas and for some reason wasn't able to log in either. I kept getting the "forgot your password" screen. My husband told me to just register again and I said "No way! I had over a thousand posts!". Then he suggested that I notify someone and I told him that it wouldn't do any good, judging from what happened to other people
I hate that I have to go back to "square one" (like Adrian), but at least now I have the username that I REALLY wanted to begin with! When I first registered, I thought that you had to have a number in your name, but obviously that's not the case.
Yep, this is really crappy having to start all over again! Obviously the mods/managers of this board don't care, either!

PS: I guess on the good side, if I've ever said anything stupid in my other posts, they will all be forgotten, right?

I wonder what would happen if I tried to log in from my daughters computer. My computer has me permanently logged in - would logging in from her computer generate a new name and destroy the one on this computer?
I'm getting curiousier and couriousier as to what would happen. I don't want to lose my post count, I'm almost at Chief of State (I think that's the next title). I'd like to make it to that title before I have to start over. Losing all my favorite PM's will be a disappointment too, I tried to copy them to a disc, then to a floppy but it didn't work. That may be due to this computer having so many glitches on it. This computer has so many errors on it and is so old and slow I hate it.

This really ticks me off that I had to re-register and everything. I HATE what they've done to this board and on top of that, I can't even add "Seattle, Washington" to my profile. The stupid thing will only let me enter my zip code! Who cares what people's zip codes are? It doesn't even show up in the posts! The only GOOD thing is that I now have my usern ame the way I wanted it in the first place, but I don't see what's so hard about adding the CORRECT number of posts (
see my signature) and TITLE to my profile. My first thought when I ended up having to re-register was to never post here again, but this is the only place that I can gush/rant about my favorite show!
