Okay so I know we just got this weeks episode, but already I am way too excited for next weeks pirate treassure fun with Steven Weber (I loved Wings)! The preview has me super-psyched to see Shawn and his Uncle Jack and whatever shenanigans they get up to. Let the treasure hunting begin! Anyone heard if Steven Weber is gonna be around longer than just one ep this season?

In the current issue of TV Guide, they mention that Steven will be on four episodes of
Without A Trace to take over the Missing Persons Unit, so my answer would be no. I love Steven! He is awesome! When they mentioned the show casted him as Uncle Jack, I immediately thought of
Wings (which is on USA Network) and the character Steven played on there. Steven is a very versatile actor. He has played a lawyer a couple times on
Law and Order: SVU to the part where I wanted to choke him:
Monk with his former co-star: Tony Shalhaub. I can't wait to see this one. It is fun to see Shawn and Gus digging, again.

eeek! sounds like this one's gonna be good! so, here's the scoop on this ep incase anyone hasn't heard:
Shawn's adventurous and notoriously unreliable Uncle Jack comes to town claiming he has a map to ancient hidden Spanish treasure, Shawn, Gus and Henry find themselves in a life or death chase to the gold with a shady group of raiders who will stop at nothing to get to the prize first.

This is by far my favorite episode thus far into season 3. It was absolutely amazing tonight.
I loved the Shawn and Henry interaction, especially the look they exchanged when the cops showed up at the end. The ending in Red Robin was awesome too. I'm always a sucker for some good Henry and Shawn stuff.
Jules rant to Shawn then his remark
The look from Jules too right before she got into the car...loved it.
The wrap up was great. I just really really loved this episode, everything about it.

Great episode. Neat how they did the "this episode is a flashback" angle up until the end, and all of the content was top quality. So many parts were funny that I can't even remember them all. My favorite moments were
- Gus running in with the hose
- Shawn changing the story just for the sake of embarrassing Gus at the beginning
- Gus being reluctant to use his work cell phone to call for help
- Shawn fishing Gus's work cell phone out with his mouth
- Gus whining about losing his shoes
- The line "You know I don't curse very often......what the hell just happened?" (That was PERFECT delivery)
In fact, I'd say Gus was just totally on fire this week. There were too many great parts for me to list.
I was worried about this season, considering I didn't like the first episode, and while the other two were alright, they really didn't stand out. This one did. This was the first amazing episode of the season, and I'm hoping they have more where that comes from.

They're getting a bit lazy about covering up the fact that it's shot in Canada..."White Rock Muffler"?! And if you look closely at the ferry you can see the "BC Ferries" logo on the side. They DO have a reputation for not having the best pilots for their ships...they have a tendency to miss the docks, but I don't think one has ever ended up in Santa Barbara.
Not complaining, however, as I like spotting stuff like that on the show since I'm up there (White Rock/Vancouver) several times a year and see a lot of places I recognize in every show.
Loved this episode...funniest of the season so far!!

OMG, I LOVE season three! I've been totally pumped over every eppie so far, and this one rocked my socks (again). The flashback was so neat and fresh. It was like watching Grounded for Life... I miss that show... Anyway, freaking awesome! My only problem was the Red Robin product placement. Despite my giggles at the close up of the restaurant, the scene was still absolutely adorable.

I really really enjoyed this episode. I hope they bring Uncle Jack back maybe in another season. I loved the flashback idea of the episode and Shawn's reaction to Juliet's yelling was funny. And the odd numbered curse continues! After a slightly above average 3rd episode, we are treated to probably one of Psych's finest episodes in “The Greatest Adventure in the History of Basic Cable” . I thought this was excellent, brilliant, and refreshingly new and inventive take on telling a Psych story. The title is apt, because in my humble opinion, this episode truly was the greatest adventure in the history of basic cable.
I really can't think of anything I don't like about this episode. I loved the action, the locations, the family drama, the quick and clever dialogue full of pop culture reference, the comedy, and wow, the action! All this running was actually far better than the motorcycle chase of the last episode. I'm sure that the actors, specially James and Dulé, enjoyed themselves tremendously shooting this episode. It looked like it!
I love how they were able to manage telling a Psych story differently, showing us that they aren't a prisoner to formula, but at the same time keeping the basic elements of the show intact. It was clever how they incorporated the flashback (no young Gus? Again?), and how it directly ties in to the current story. There is no B story, just one whole story that involved everybody.
“If there were doves flying around, we would be in a John Woo movie.” nearly made me fall out of my seat laughing. That was just all kinds of awesome. And so true. The Mexican standoff and the flying doves are oft repeated motifs in John Woo movies that it's become cliché. I'm glad to know that the Psych writers noticed it too.
I'm also glad of the very subtle hint of the continuation of the Shawn-Juliet thing throughout the episode. After Juliet tore Shawn's head off in the interrogation room, I didn't know how Shawn was going to react, “That was so hot.” wasn't probably the first thing I would think of, but then again, I'm not Shawn and that would have been such a Shawn thing to say. I loved it.
Moments that just had me laughing out loud:
Shawn's face after Juliet says “Why do I feel he can see us?” Oh man, that was just so hilarious. It's a laugh that can be heard way across our entire neighborhood.
Shawn being able to follow Lassiter's movements through the two way mirror.
“Juan Priestly”.
Chief Vic: “Let me be FRANK”.
Shawn: “As long as I can be DEAN and Gus can be SAMMY.”
Shawn getting the phone off Gus' ankle dialing the phone using the pen.
The runner of Gus slapping Shawn's hand when Shawn tries to get Gus' food. Never gets old!
Of course, I can't finish writing this without mentioning Steven Weber. An excellent casting choice for Shawn's rouge Uncle Jack. It takes a great actor to play such a duplicitous, yet funny character. I love his performance in the movies I've seen, and I loved his performance here. I'd love to see him again.
Kudos to Josh Bycel for writing such an excellent episode, to director Jay Chandrasekhar for well, directing it, to all the actors and bit players who all did an excellent job, and to everyone else who worked on it.
This is the second time that Filipinos were referenced on this show, and both times in a good way. For that, I offer my personal thanks.

The series really pops when they have a guest star that fits right in with the rest of the cast. Webber did just that. He was perfectly cast as Jack.
Great episode all around. My favorite bit had to be when Shawn found out that Gus had the phone on his ankle, and Gus was determined not to use it to save them, because it was his work phone. CLASSIC Gus moment. That entire scene in the cabin was hilarious.

Just registered so that I could say "excellent episode"... laughed my ass out.
Although there's one thing I've been wondering... does everyone else in the northern hemisphere sees Argentinians like those three guys in suits? Seriously, they don't look like Argentinians at all. More like Colombian mafia or Chavez' (Venezuela's president) bodyguards ... The average Argentinian looks (physically) like Shawn... well... the average Argentinian also behaves mostly Shawn, but maybe a bit more vain and self-centered.
Also, "che" is not a slang for buddy nor pal, it's simply the pronoun "you" in a spanish dialect used in central Argentina, specially in the city of Buenos Aires. It sounds so different and it's not used as the normal spanish pronouns ("usted", "vos", "tu") that it catches the attention of spanish speakers that are not acquainted with this dialect. That's from where Ernesto "Che" Guevara's nickname comes from, he used this word as often as any other "porteño" (someone from Buenos Aires).
Well, that's it, just another piece of useless information. But, if anyone in the forum ever visits Buenos Aires, now they will know that if an Argentinian says "che" to him, he's probably just trying to get your attention (something like "hey you!") not trying to get friendly with you.

This was such a great episode!

I laughed out loud more than a few times. Especially at "You want me to poke you in the eyes on the roof?" xD I really enjoyed the new style they used for this episode, too. I spotted the pineapple the first time around, but apparently it was the wrong pineapple since it's not one of the choices for the contest! xD (It was on the table near the answering machine at Henry's.)
Also, did anyone else notice that while Shawn, Gus, and Jack were tied up, Jack called his old partner "kitten"? It threw me off for a second. xD

"Couleur" does NOT mean "paint" or "painting" in French. It means "color." "Peindre" is "to paint," "peinture" is "paint" or "painting."
The only times that "couleur" can mean "paint" is in a word like "watercolor" -- "couler à l'eau," (just like english) or "a box of colors" meaning "box of paint."
The possible "paint" usage is nowehere near the first thing you think of when you hear "couleur."

I'm pleased I was not the only person to think that. I mean, the word even
looks like its English cognate, especially if you use the standard spelling favoured outside North America, and how many people would slowly spell out out "c.o.l.o.u.r" and say "paint!"?

For a minute there, because Uncle Jack had mentioned Filipinos later in the episode, I honestly thought that it was an obscured reference to Wowowee, an extremely popular daily variety/game show in the Philippines.
For the 98% of the readers who don't know what this is, it's basically the Filipino take on shows like Sabado Gigante - on crack

. Lots (LOTS) of dancing, singing, games, and cavorting women - seems like another kind of show Shawn would be addicted to, hehe.
