1. I agree that is what Jo told Goren -- but she also indicated she only saw her father sporadically, mostly when he was in New York for other things, which were probably far more important to him than visiting with his daughter. If, as so many others do, she left home after high school (I don't think they ever said where "home" was for the Gages) I would submit that she really didn't know what was important to her father in later years. Her attention was focused on trying to get her father's attention, and so she worked with the one thing she did know, the Sebastian killings.
2. He was consumed by the idea of outwitting his adversaries -- be they criminals, or other law enforcement personnel. He has the type of personality that would very quickly become bored with outwitting the criminals, and just might turn his attention to outwitting the very people he was supposed to be working with. Outwitting law enforcement is a very large part of what makes committing a string of crimes attractive to these personality types -- they get off on thinking that they are so much smarter than everyone else.

3. There is always an element of competiton in a relationship such as that of Goren and Gage. Gage would have recognized Goren as the superior intellect, and while he would have taken great pleasure in teaching Goren, would also have taken great pleasure in outwitting hm.

And as far as the Peter Coyote character, he took great pleasure in mentoring, yes, as long as his protegees didn't surpass him. Look at what he did to the two people who actually had a future as a writer -- he got one to kill the other.

All just my humble opinion. I just think there is a LOT more that could be explored and was rolling around under the surface. On the other hand, perhaps I need to get a life --- laugh.gif

Remember, the travel to NYC was not social; it was professional. Was always a conference of some kind. He needed to be part of the community that he impaled himself with that goofy drama to flush out the serial killer. When I think of that antic that ended his career--I remember the conversation in the ep 'serial killers do not personalize'. It appeared to me that Gage felt he was connected to the killer--he did personalize. Which is also why the antic completely failed--the killer was not engaged with him.

No, as far as we know, Donny is still alive. Bobby specifically asks Declan at the end of the episode if he had killed Donny (or had him killed) and Declan was emphatic in his 'no, it wouldn't do you any good' since Declan was only wanting to rid Bobby of the people he felt were dragging Bobby down (Frank, Nicole and Declan himself).

Welcome to the board Teslarocker! I remember Bobby asking Declan if he had killed Donnie too, but Declan told him, in a sincere way at that, no, even if he knew where Donnie was, he wouldn't have killed him, like judy said only those Declan thought would "set Bobby free", Nicole, Frank and Declan himself. This is one of the pic's from Frame, when he found his brother. Enjoy posting! smile.gif
