Sources tell me that Monk's new partner will be a sort of foil; an exact opposite in every way. He'll be dirty, disorganized and callous. Not sure if they intend to keep him but the hope is that this new personality will attract more viewers as it will add a new chemistry for Monk to play off of.

Is Traylor Howard leaving the show? I googled this really quick and couldn't find anything.

I haven't seen or heard anything about Traylor leaving either. I can't imagine Monk hiring a dirty, callous, disorganised assistant. He'd run a mile before letting anyone like that hang around with him everyday =P

It sounds a little like the guy in Mr. Monk and the Other Detective -- not the most popular episode around here.

It also sounds like the plot of the Odd Couple.

I cannot imagine Monk with some messy, dirty etc. person longer than one episode. If this is a true rumour, it could be just in a one episode plot.

Now I am again out, but in what episode was Jack Jr.? He is Monk´s half brother?

He hasn't been shown yet -- he was mentioned in the episode with Monk and his father.

That would be funny for a few episode arc but I don't think he'd actually replace Traylor on the show bc then there'd be no women left. LOL.

I could see him needing to get a secondary assistant or partner/ whatever if Natalie gets a bf and is trying to spend some time w him or whatever. That'd sure make Monk annoyed.

If such an unnamed source were right and we are forced to give credence to a rumour and speculate that Natalie leaves, I wonder what could be the reason?

I can not see her being murdered so it may mean that a "Joe" enters her life or that Mitch returns, hoping for me at least, it is the latter for it would mean that the character would finally find personal happiness - something that 4 years with Monk doesn't seem to have brought her much of.

Whatever be the reason and it is indeed about Natelie's departure, the ramifications for better, as some anti-Natalie fans hope, or worse, as many more who grew to love her, fear, would be immense.

I think it's just a rumor. Yeah, it's pretty like Mr. Monk and the other detective, I think this rumor wouldn't come true neither as a single episode, because there already was a similar one..

I wonder if it could be referring to one of the remaining eight episodes in the second half of the season which have yet to be ofiically announced?

I would like to believe what Mr. Goldberng had Sharona say to Natalie in the "Two Assistants" that in effect Monk would die if his loyal girl Friday would leave and leave it at that.

When I see rumors with obscure "sources," I always wonder if it's not one of the people leading the parade (the powers that be) dropping little tidbits out there just to see how the idea is received or in what ways it's shot down--like maybe someone here thinks of something they didn't, whether it's pro or con. I hope there's not the slightest hint of an inkling of a possibility that they'd ever replace Natalie. I think this scuttlebutt might just be a misinterpretation of one aspect of next week's episode. My fingers are crossed....



Added: That's not to say that we're all powerful in here and affect what they do or don't do, but all these people in this industry know that for every one person who posts their opinion as habit, there are about a hundred thousand who don't. They just watch their TV sets and either cheer, or throw their cheetohs at the screen. lol

From the preview of next week`s episode, I think Mr. Monk might need someone to help out, but only for a short time.
Maybe for half the show, if at all.

I must admit, I am a little curious about Monk's half brother. It'd be interesting to see his father again, I was kind of sad that he didn't see Ambrose.

Ugh, I did dislike Monty Eels, or whatever his name was in that episode.

Monk kept saying he was cheating. The Capt. said we are going to let Marty( I think was his name) work this case. He should have listened to Monk. As usual Monk saved the day and Marty`s mother.

Maybe Monk will become reinstated and has to work with the Mayor's son? Maybe the Mayor is hoping some of Monk's cleanliness and organization will rub off on the son? Maybe Natalie will be hired by the department, also?

andy breackman said during the producer interviews we will meet his half brother at some point during the season. i dont think they will work together though.
