i love the show. i love what marys character is all about. she is funny with her sarcastic remarks.. but i think her sister is wrong for even thinking about marys boyfriend like that. she should leave them alone and give them space so they can work out their problems. I think that Mary's sister should respect her and leave Mary's boyfriend alone. thats just wrong... what do all of you think about the situation?????

It's a tough situation - I agree that Brandy sucks for chasing her sister's boyfriend.
I have an older sister who was always the one who got all the boys, etc. and while we were far enough apart in age to avoid crossover boyfriend issues while I was growing up, we're close enough in age that I layed out some ground rules as an adult:

  • I will not date anyone who has ever had a thing for my sister.
  • Anyone who has ever had a thing for me generally will not have a thing for my sister; we're very different women in terms of looks and personality.
My first instinct is to say that if my sister did what Brandy did, I'd show no mercy. But that's not really true. I love my sister; she's family, and boyfriends are not family and ultimately replaceable. But you can't replace your sister.

So I'd just guilt trip her and bring it up at family reunions every couple of years as a diversion when my family starts pestering me about my lifestyle choices. All's fair among sisters, after all.

Betraying your sister? Wrong! Wrong! Wrong. But, it still happens. Brandi may not want to break them up, but she certainly would not mind if they broke up. Also she is impulsive and doesn't strike me as the self-sacrificing type who could put others first.

But in fairness to Brandi, Mary knows the kind of weak person she is. AND considering that Mary knows that she is a taker not a giver, let's not overlook Mary's contribution to the situation they are now in.

On which planet would someone who knows that someone else has a "thing" for her significant other, keep throwing them together? I-have-to-work-all-day-and-half-the-night-would-you-please-put-on-some-short-shorts-and-go-over-to-my-boyfriend's-house-massage-his-leg-and-make-him-some-dinner.

On another note, I have to force myself to deliberately overlook the plot device used to put Ralph and Brandi together. It is rather thin. I keep thinking, am I missing something or is Ralph just not capable of dialing 1-800-taxi-cab?

I don't blame Brandi. It's not like Mary seems to care about the guy that much. Whenever she wants to be with him she steals him away from Brandi, and when she has other things to do she just pawns him off on her. It isn't fair or considerate to Raph or Brandi.

JaredD,
Come-on Buddy! When was the last time you saw a cab driver wearing short shorts and sporting a rack as nice as Brandi's??????

Edited to a more comely font.

That said - LOL! Yeah, cab service is expensive everywhere, too - and if Chico were my cabby I'd suddenly forget where the bus stop was, too...
