Yeah, same with me. If I disappear for more than 3 days at a time, contact Judy or Spook, they know where I went.

I am with you, I want my PM's back or at least access to them. I have a few that I saved and at least 1 new one that I know of.

Spook and Judy both tried to PM Admin for me and their inbox was full so they emailed Admin with no response.

Hey everyone, I was having the same problem most of you are having with the login. I clicked register and typed in my email address again and it told me I was already registered with that email address. Then I was asked if I wanted to continue registering and I clicked yes and it asked me for the password I used when I first registered so I did that and my account came back. Has anyone else tried that?
cat lady
This is dramaqueen AKA cat lady, found the problem I'm on the NBC board as cat lady I never post there anymore, dead as a doormouse over there, but now because of the upgrades I'm registered here with my name from there. Good God who's idea was this? Put through a message but it keeps going to My NBC, I give up I'll try again tomorrow, good night and good luck!

Ok, gang. I just popped over to the Burn Notice forum--and they are having the same problems we are with the new log in. Bubba had posted over there that what ever you do, if you are logged in--DON'T LOG OFF.

I just wish Admin would at least post a message letting us know that they are aware of the problem and are working on it!

Some information would be nice Admin!

This is laurengoren and I'm about to be committed!!! Thank you, cat lady aka dramaqueen!! It wasn't until I read your post about trying to register instead of login with your email. It took forever but I finally got in. And yes, it picked up my identity from when I was on NBC. Kept throwing me into My NBC. But I'm here, finally, even though I am now laureng. I thought if this doesn't work, I am gone. I've never had a signature, but I'm going to put my former username there. (Of course, there's always tomorrow! I may not be able to get in)

That is what I have had to do since Saturday. I have not posted on the NBC board in almost a year and now the old name comes up.

Today I logged in with my old password once, and then the assigned temp number once.

I think that this is all for "Big Brother" to monitor our internet activities and to track us.

It is crtainly not for USA to serve us better, or whatever their laim excuse was for the change.

Okay I have to say...this is getting extremely annoying! mad.gif

They are REALLY screwing with this board aren't they?? I got froze off here early today...came up blank screen and IPS Error. No clue what that is, but said page location error...wish they would quit "improving" things.

Maybe if you can stay on here long enough, you could ask around and see if anyone else is having problems??

Hanging in there...for now.

Well, Big Brother needs to get off his duff and straighten out the problem. It's been so long since I even visited the NBC board that I wouldn't have known my username if I wanted to. If I were paranoid I might think Admin is just sitting back laughing at the mess they created. Male Chauvenist Pigs!!!!! Sorry, ladies; no name calling on the board. (But I don't take it back)

I think it's time to start playing dirty. I don't think the forum administrators are in charge of the upgrades or downgrades or failing grades; they are merely "moderators" to keep the peace on the boards, nothing more.

We need to quite bugging the forum administrators and go directly to the corporate offices. We need to point out the problems to them and make sure they understand that people are LEAVING their forums in droves.

Why is this important? Well, notice the ads on the top and right hand sides of your screen. Companies pay BIG $$$$$$$$ to have those ads there. Advertisers hope that we will remember the ads and the products we saw in the ads and check out or buy those products, visit the websites, watch the movie or tv show; in other words, spend our time and money on their product.

Pointing out to TPTB at the network offices that fewer people are on the board will hit them were it really hurts -- their pocketbook. Remember, the bottom line, the be all and end all of a business's life is $$$$$, profit, being in the black.

Maybe if enough of us all over the USA boards point out to the corporate bigwigs about the potential for a huge loss in advertising $$$$$, the message will be recieved and something will finally be done.

I'd post the information for ya'll, but I'm having a hard time getting the USA homepage to load on my computer......(upgrade, schmupgrade)

I'm with you, Flashymom! Are you talking about e-mailing them from the homepage? I can do that!
flashymom
You don't have to go to the homepage. At the top of this page it says "EXTRAS". The tab that opens up has a column titled, "Help". Under "Help" is "feedback". Click on feedback; that page has the frequently asked questions list. In the paragraph above the question are the words "contact us", gold and underlined. Clicking on that gets you the info we need:

Phone number to NBC Switchboard: 212-664-4444. Call and ask for USA Network Viewer Hotline. Complain politely to whomever answers or to the voice mail.

Address for writing letters. This is a biggie, folks! We need to flood them with well-written, thought out letters. BUT, remind them of the loss of ad revenue.....$$$$ talks!

USA Network
10 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112

Finally, and this is most important, is the "e-mail us" form. Be polite, mention the problem, remind them that you and others will take your message board use some place else, or will stop all together. Remind them of the potential for revenue loss once word gets out that MB #s are down and advertisers look for better places to spend their $$$$$......

I think by now, everyone has my drift.

After this, if there is still nothing done to correct the problem, it's time to write call and email the advertisers on this site directly, letting them know there is a problem and they should consider taking their business elsewhere.

Thanks!

To Quote the Administrator's Message of a few weeks ago (I've italicized some key phrases):

"We will be performing an upgrade to the forums on Wednesday, July 16. This upgrade will allow us to add new features and help cut down on the amount of spam posts.

"The upgrade will cause a small change in how you log in to your account. At that time, you will be directed to a standalone login page.

"To log in, you will need to enter the original e-mail address you registered with, plus your password.

"From then on, you will log in with your e-mail address instead of the user name you have been using. After you log in, your online handle (screen name) will be the same as it was before the change. Other users won't see your e-mail address.

"Forum members can check their current e-mail address in the Account Summary box on their Control Panel page. Click on My Controls in the Forum menu to go to your Control Panel page. Copy or write down your e-mail address and store it in a safe place.

"After our change to the new system is completed, if you are unable to remember or retrieve your e-mail address, you will need to create a new account. "

***

From Websters Random House Dictionary (1995 edition):

"UPGRADE: (Def #10) To improve the quality value or performance of something (i.e. Buy this basic computer and upgrade when you're ready.)"

I see nothing on this board that seems to have been "improved" in quality, value, or performance. In fact, it seems that this was a "Downgrade" not an "Upgrade" as many long-time posters have not been able to "log-on" for a substantial period of time and/or (contrary to the second italicized statement) have had to change their screen names, losing their statistical histories with it.

And, as for "improving" security:

One new poster has started not one, but two, new spam Threads, in less than a 24-hour period! Both Threads were reported (by me); and, neither has been deleted. They stayed on the first page until normal posting traffic pushed them to the second page. The LOCI conversation has decreased to a crawl as the "veterans" of this board (the most prolific posters) seem to be the ones who have had difficulty logging in; and, some are now thinking of "abandoning" the USA Forum all together!

Pardon me! I don't want my posting Buddies to abandon the board; and, I'd prefer not to have to go through the "hastle" of registering on some other LOCI Board! (It's me that's somewhat technically-challenged and I'm able to log on under my old Screen Name; when those who are more tech-saavy can't. Does that sound logical to you??)

Where are you Administrator(s)! The glitches aren't being addressed and you haven't even posted an "Update" Message to let us know what you are doing or when the "Upgrade" will be complete.

(Maybe posting in several colors will get someone's attention!!)

Welcome back Cifan! So I wonder if people who have a screen name on the NBC board are the ones running into problems. I signed up over there a while back, but I think I only posted once.

Huh...I registered for an NBC CI board account years ago and was never able to log in with it (not even their moderators who invited me to join the NBC CI board could get me in). I guess now I'm glad that happened.

Do we think that NBC Universal may actually be trying to combine all the separate boards (i.e. NBC, USA, Sci-Fi, Sleuth, etc) into one big board? That could explain why the whole thing is so foobar...and if that is the case why didn't they just tell us the truth and not use some lame story about slowing down spammers...do they not get that we watch a *DETECTIVE* show and regularly figure out mysteries and inconsistencies in stories for fun?!?!

And WKC Admin means Westminster Kennel Club Admin?!?! WTF?!? Did they get rid of our old admin? blink.gif If they did shame on them...USA Admin was doing a good job up until this transition.

As far as other CI or VDO boards go, I have been a member of many. None of them is as friendly and laid back as this one. I have been through Lauren and Andy's experience of either not being admitted to a board (for reasons known only those who admin the boards I wasn't approved to join) or being part of a Yahoo! group and getting myself kicked off because I got too many 'demerits' for posting opinions that other people didn't like. Especially the people in charge.

I haven't seen any troubles like that here until now and that is a huge shame.

If others want to start another board, I'm game for joining it, but I am just not up to the task of administering a board...that is a time-consuming job and right now and for the forseeable future I just don't have the time (as it is my blog is months behind in getting content added to it and as soon as the entertainment industry labor union issues have calmed down I will be doing updates over at my blog). So let me know if we're moving the discussion party to another location. I'd be delighted to attend

BTW anyone who needs the mailing address for sending the pins can PM me or email me at vdovault at yahoo dot com.

This is dramaqueen AKA cat lady, tried to get my name back from USA, no luck, I'm on NBC board as cat lady and USA board as cat lady, unless my messages get through to NBC and USA I guess I'll stay here as cat lady, also password is the same on both. Unless someone knows how to change your name on the site, I thought as a desperate measure of changing my name on the NBC board, it might get it back on here, a little afraid to try, with my luck I might have to re-enter here all over again, what a mess!!

Itried to edit my last post, no luck, what I wrote was,I tried to send an e mail to administration, I followed Flshymom's instructions and filled out the form, but when I tried to send it the screen went blank, with a notice Fatal Error...etc. I'm going to stay logged in just in case, with my luck there will be more problems to follow.

I bet if more of us keep digging, we'll keep finding ways to contact people and eventually get some help or answers.

The Vault

Vault, not glad that it happened to you also, but at least I know I wasn't just singled out as the only person people didn't want! sad.gif LOL I will say that this second time around (well third, because I tried coming back another time but there was a troll who posted such crude language I left), the posters that remained are the nice friendly ones and the new ones seem to be a lot friendlier bunch than a year ago. We all just need to stick together.

I know Jryan mentioned this, but is anyone else have problems getting emails from USA that is on bellsouth (now AT&T).

The reason I mention it is, I'm suppose to get an email message everytime I get a PM, but I'm not. Could Bellsouth/AT&T be blocking USA, and USA in turn has been deleting our email addresses? It's a crazy thought. . . . . .

I can't log in at all--the only reason I'm still on is because My computer at home is still logged in. However, I can't log in at work now--which really sucks cause I really like to log in while I'm inbetween projects and see what's going on!

Considering that the forum doesn't recongize my email anymore, the only thing I can think of is that USA deleted my email because bellsouth/ATT won't deliver it.
CIobbsessed
currently every time I use my account (hopefully I won't have to now log in now though) i have to go to my email and copy my reset number password to get in because I'm too lazy to change my password.
I'm not even going to get onto that subject. Except when Janxanegel pm'd me it didn't arrive in my email box where it should've. But flashymom's was.... weird... strange... very strange.

Excellent idea, flashymom!

P.S. Look for a package soon! wink.gif

Aw, I don't wanna lose everyone either. sad.gif What a sad kitty, KimT!

Bellsouth/AT&T is SBC here. I don't know about elsewhere. I have a sbcglobal.net email address and I had issues but I think mine was NBC releated or so the forum said.

I am not exactly sure, it's possible and probable. The more I think about, yes, pretty darn sure.
Meerkat

I did not change my email address, as I see some people have done. None of the passwords I requested worked, so it appeared. I requested several. All of them gave me the error message. Then I entered my email and password again, and when it gave me the error, I went to my Favorites on Internet Explorer (IE 7) and selected USA Network Forums LOCI, which I had previously saved. When it navigated to the board, it showed that I was logged in as Meerkat, which had been my username before the "upgrade".

It gave me the same routine (login error) even after I'd logged in and reset my password to what I'd had previously.

The same thing occured on the NBC LOCI board after they did and "upgrade".
TennesseCIFAn
who else had to create new accounts that their orginal emails were from an AT&T owned phone/internet provider?

For example: Bellsouth, SBC, swbell, etc

If that is the common thread here, perhaps we can get USA and AT&T to work on the problem and we can all login, and the others can get their old screen names back.

I sent them an email to that address yesterday, through my regular email...and it went through, now if it gets read? Thats another question entirely.

NatashaFatale
Hi All – this is Natasha from the Burn Notice forum, posting this here to hopefully help everyone having problems:

I did just finally managed to log back in as my old original NatashaFatale profile, after trying all weekend, and then buckling down these last 5 hours straight using sheer determination and trying everything under the sun and I’m not happy about it. Not to mention, I’m still not exactly 100% sure what it was that finally made it happen and I’m afraid to ever log out again.

The thing that really cheeses me off is that these exact same forum “upgrades” happened previously on other NBC/Uni forums (NBC.com, SciFi, etc) with the exact same problems for members logging in.

In fact, the SciFi forum was given the exact same notice/instructions that we were:
http://www.scifi.com/members/migration/

And with the exact same results: at least 233 members (at least on the BattlestarGalactica forum or more) effected. They jokingly called it their Feb.11th purge. Their laments (same as ours ) are here:
http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopi...t=0&start=0

At least they were able to put together one thread to list everyone who was effected, to help their admin better solve their problems:
http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopic=2300976
Sadly, it started back in Feb. and of the 233 names listed, only 3 or 4 have been fixed to date. All the rest had to re-register as newbies or they just left, as far as I can tell. Sounds like the NBC.com board went through it too, and it’s happened in the past, and will likely happen again.

Which makes me think, sadly, that we can pretty much expect the same. It’s been 6 months for them and they didn’t get theirs all fixed. I’d love for admin to please please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t see much hope for an “overall” fix happening.

There may be, if admin is up for it, a chance they they can help those with problems if they can get to each one individually? Would it help, admin, if we created a list of all those having problems in one thread (list only, not a complaint thread) like the SciFi one? Perhaps Admin (or Bubba?) could start a thread someone where everyone can find it in a general area (the Character Lounge?) to list their profile name & problem summarized?

UPDATE: USA Forum list created: please post here if you are having problems:
http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=403234

I noticed on the SciFi forum that although their admin “didn’t have the ability to change your account name but they can merge the old account into the account you have that is active.” Could ours do that?

If not, then admin can find all the threads already here on the USA Forums regarding these login problems here:

BN http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...402960&st=0

CI: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=403061

Monk: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...403049&st=0

NashvilleStar: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...403022&st=0
http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...&hl=logging

and probably more.

I know admin is probably dealing with a mass of issues right now, so I’ll try to be sympathetic if it’s out of their hands, but if they can’t let us know anything, can they let us know through another member?

It’s just that all this info would have been so much more helpful BEFORE the purge. Alas, here we are now, and for those of you just discovering your login problems now, here’s the basics of what I could piece together culled from all the USA forums & the SciFi forums (apologizes to those who I’m quoting – I just mashed all I could find together):

What we know
1. Seems like it is randomly effecting random email hosts: yahoo, hotmail, bellsouth – so it doesn’t seem like just one email host is the problem.
2. The Sci Fi Forums & The NBC board (and now USA) had the same upgrades/migrations happen & the same problems. All are under NBC Universal. (Is there an IT department at NBC-U who handles all forums?)
3. PM’s to USAAdmin, admin1, admin2 and WKC_Admin and get a message saying their inbox is full. Emails to admin/webmaster haven’t gotten replies yet.

Things to Try:
Here’s my best recollection of what people have tried – I can’t say that any one thing will do it – just try them all I guess.

1. Don’t Log Out.
Don’t ever log out ever again even if your life depended on it.

2. Cookies are important.
From SciFi Forum: Do not log out. Hold on to your cookie. Because to log back in, you must supply the email address you originally registered with. Even if that email account is long gone it does not matter, you need to remember what it was. If your current email address in your profile is different, was changed at anytime after registration, it's not going to work as the log in. (aka: For those of you trapped 'tween dimensions, make sure you allow all cookies from scifi and then alternately log in and swear until it finally works.)

3. Get a new password sent.
If you can’t login, pretend you forgot your password and click the “forgot password” to get a new numerical password sent to you – then you can log into your account and change it to the password you want.

4. New password not working? Keep requesting more.
For ex. Got USA to email a new password but then that password didn’t work after trying many times, try closing out everthing & then come back in again and see if it works….had to wade through a list of new passwords but when one finally got in …just keep trying. For ex. the relogin went okay despite initial messages of 'that name & email are already in use' when trying to login with my correct email address and password.

5. Try a different web browser
Try a different browser: Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Safari, etc.

6. Pure Luck
It kept saying that the email was incorrect but I knew for sure that was the one I registered with. I lost count of how many times I tried and how many times I applied for a new password. Then all of a sudden it worked.

7. Login with any past NBC-related login.
If you’re registered (currently or ever in the past) on another NBC site (NBC.com, Scifi etc.) try using that login. You may end up with that NBC.om identity/username here on the USA forum.
For ex. My email was attached to an NBC user name that I had eons ago and they wanted that password.
For Ex. Went to reregister and see what happens. Well it worked...it had my email listed as also being registered on MyNBC and just changed my password to the NBC's password.
Once logged into NBC.com, etc., you may have to request a new password from NBC.com be sent to you, if that works, login into NBC.com and change your password, and try to change your username if wanted (on your NBC.com login you have one chance to change your username, after that you can’t change it) and then try logging on back here at usa.

8. Register with original email instead of logging in
This has seemed to work for more than a few people.
A. For ex. I was having the same problem most of you are having with the login. I clicked register and typed in my email address again and it told me I was already registered with that email address. Then I was asked if I wanted to continue registering and I clicked yes and it asked me for the password I used when I first registered so I did that and my account came back.
B. For ex. Try going to login screen, then click "register." Type your email address you registered with in the space and let it first tell you if it remembers it from there. It didn't remember my email from the login screen or the "forgot password" screen but it did remember it from this other screen. If it says something like yes, this email may have been registered, then type in your old password on the next screen. It worked for me and didn't make me change my password. It can't hurt to try it. I hope you can get back into your old account.
C. Note: Some have tried this, but it wouldn't take their password.
D. For ex. Thanks for your post about trying to register instead of login with your email. It took forever but I finally got in. And yes, it picked up my identity from when I was on NBC. Kept throwing me into My NBC. But I'm here.

E. When you register & type in your orig email address, you’ll get this message:

1. You may already be registered with myNBC!
You appear to have already registered an account with this email address. If you'd like to continue, we will merge your existing information with this new registration. If not, you will have to use a new email address.

2. Choose Yes, continue registering this account. I agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
3. Message: This email address is already registered. If this is your email address please provide the correct password associated with this account. (If you forgot your password click here.)
4. Enter your orig password
you’ll either get:

a. bad message: The following error has occurred: Your Email/Password combination was incorrect. Please try again.
(this worked for me after logging in at mynbc.com & using Safari, not Mozilla)
b. good message: You’re almost done!
Please click "Save" in order to complete your registration on the USA Network Forums
Enter email
(but I got no spot to enter it)
Display name (but I got no spot to enter it)
Save button

c. another bad message: The following error has occurred:
There was a communications error that has been logged. Please try again

(Frustrated, I then went back to main usa page, then back to forum & I was logged in already without having done anything, as my old profile – crazy!!!!)

9. Check all spellings/caps
Per SciFi forum: from admin to a member:
The email associated with that account is Xyz@XXXXXXX.XXX
Please try it with the case as shown and see if it works. I don't have the ability to change your account name but I can merge the old account into the account you have that is active. That way you'll have your correct post count and PMs.
Regards,
scifiadmin1

10. Re-Register as a newbie
If you’ve tried it all and still no luck or you get: “Your email address was not found”, there doesn’t seem to be a solution yet. A lot of people are getting this message.

Likely you’ll have to register again.
If probs registering: If you are trying to register anew and it won’t send you an email registration, try using a different email account and different email server.
When you re-register, You may be able to get your old user/screenname/handler/handle name back but will possibly lose all history. Or not. For Ex. FINALLY got back on after a week of trying. Re-registered with a slight name change, yet my info is intact, including my saved PM's. Weird.
Sadly, with some new accounts you may have: no post history, no PM's, can't edit previous posts, and a test showed that inbound PM's are probably going to the original account (I tested this before I got my orig profile back, and yes, a pm to my old profile did send an email notification to my original email account, but following the link from there back to USA said : message does not exist).

That’s all I got. I managed to get my orig profile back with a combo of #3,4,5,6,7, & 8 above, and apparently I can only logon using Safari now (I’m on a mac). I couldn’t tell you which exactly did it. I hope it stays.

I’m going to try & post this in all the USA threads.

Good luck to you all!

UPDATE: USA Forum list created: please post here if you are having problems:

Thanks for the info...we tried everything, nothing worked. Ah well, i'm here, thats half the battle. smile.gif

It's a crazy thought. . . . . .

It may be constructive to find out what internet provider(s) are used by those who can/can't log on! Maybe there's some pattern that would help "the Administrator(s)" or a tech-saavy Board Member solve the problem.

For the record, as one of those who "can" log-on, my provider is Comcast Cable; I also use their home page.

Since it seems to be the most prolific posters that are having the most problems, I might also note that I have been posting on this board for a year in August; USAs LOCI Board is the one and only Forum, Board, or Blog I subscribe to or have posted on. (Though I think I may have registered for the NBC Board and one other so long ago that I would know what ScreenName or Password was mine at this point.)

Hope this information helps.

Hi Bubba here, I just thought I would drop and say hello to everyone. I haven't been on much due to the upgrade and plus I am having problem with my right eye. I'm okay, I went to the doctor and all. I think my problem (with the upgrade) lies between Bellsouth/AT&T.

Like some of you have mentioned, when I get a PM with my old account, I would get a email. About a few weeks ago those stopped. I meant to ask admin about it, but never got around to it. I tried the examples you guys gave, thank you by the way for those, but it doesn't work. I'm trying to get my Bellsouth/AT&T email back up and running, it's been down for some reason and I will try some of those steps again.

Thanks to everyone who still thinks about me, hopefully I will be back full time soon. Maybe if I can get going again, I can assist others here. smile.gif

Thanks, Roy cool.gif

I left my username logged in last night before I shut down my pc. This morning it was logged out, so that strategy didn't work for me. Also encountering the same login error as before, password not recognized.

I was thinking the 'NBC Board' might be the common thread. Others mentioned having been registered with NBC at one time. I was even though I haven't been there over a year.

We use our local cable internet and MSN is our homepage.

I've had that problem, too, although I don't get that many PMs. But it was nice getting the notice, otherwise you have to log on everytime you come here, even if all you want to do is read.

I hope everything is okay with you eye, Bubba. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Ok, gang. I just create a thread in the Character Lounge--basically a signup sheet for those having problems. Thread is located here: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=403234

Hopefully this will get admin's attention and get someone working on this.

Meerkat, when you shut down your computer, it logs you out of all your internet accounts as part of the shut down process. I just leave mine on all the time; it goes to "sleep" until someone comes along and "wakes" it back up. Try not shutting down and turning off your computer and see if that helps.

I turn off my computer at home occasionally and the one at work every night, but when I start them back up I'm still logged in here. Every once in a while, though, one of them will log me out for some reason. Hasn't happened yet since the down....I mean upgrade. ::crosses fingers::
