I'm ready to take up a collection to finance making this happen so I think you know how I voted.

Absolutely.

Of course! I'm dying for this to happen!

Most definitely. I have the first three seasons on DVD and I taped the other seasons (although it didn't occur to me to do this when they first aired until season six, so my season fours and fives are all mixed up on different tapes, sigh.) I've been buying DVDs of lots of other TV shows the last few months, but I think it's mostly to console myself because the DVDs I really want aren't available.

I wonder if part of the problem or delay in releasing DVD's has to do with the syndication deals NBC/Wolf have worked out for the three L&O shows? All three series are woefully behind the curve when it comes to DVD releases.

I desperately want all seasons on DVD - not DVR'ed with network logos plastered all over them and marred by commercial breaks and not downloaded from amazon or wherever. I want clean, clear pristine DVD's - hopefully loaded with lots of extras and bonus material....

I want my LOCI DVD'S... and I want them NOW!
(PLEASE....)

Of course! In fact, I'm getting rather impatient waiting for the newer episodes to come out on DVD. My early episodes are getting pretty worn out.
LanaG79
Sure I would. I'd also like the first three seasons in wide screen like they've been showing in reruns on USA. I haven't been interested in buying what's already out there in full screen.
TheGoddessDivine
I don't understand why they're waiting to release the rest of the seasons on DVD....since this show is tops on cable??
Universal is working my last nerve here.....how long has it been since there's been a CI season release?

I mean, really!

VDOVault
As I write this the count stands at 22 yes votes and 1 maybe vote...

Hoping this happens sooner rather than later

And I don't mind that my Seasons 1-3 are in full screen...I'm frankly glad to have them at all

I wouldnt say all 3 shows are behind L&O and L&O:CI are But SVU has caught up Season 7 is due for release in just over a week and season 10 is due to start in september. So they're not too far behind. But beyond that i just want the DVD's, id buy every last one. I live in the UK and have imported every L&O set i own (all currently available) so i think ive proved i'd buy them all biggrin.gif

As much as I hate to say it! I really think the "powers that be" are trying to tap every penny they can out of reruns.

If they release the DVDs, then we don't "have" to watch reruns:

They don't get the ratings and/or advertising revenues (probably much greater than from DVDs);

They won't be able to "collect" as many fees for each downloaded (or is it an uploaded?) episode on Unbox (or any other such site).

It's Greed. Got Me!

They may pay the price later. After they have played every episode a few dozen times; the viewer will have taped them all and/or is "burnt out" so when the DVDs are released, the public won't spend the money to buy them.

I'm not sure i agree with that. Given how SVU is the most popular show of the franchise and they have sped up those DVD releases. I Think its just a lack of faith that the product will sell
LOCIfan1978
Of course I would buy all the seasons of Law & Order, and not just CI, but also SVU and the mothership. The problem is that SVU is the most popular and highest rated of the three and that is why they are putting out seasons of SVU faster than the other two. I have a feeling that it will be a bit longer before we see anything for CI or the mothership, because I think that Universal is going to put out seasons 8 & 9 of SVU before they even consider releasing any more seasons of CI or the mothership, and if you figure that they are putting out seasons of SVU at a rate of every 4-6 months, you figure it is probably going to be a year or so before another season of CI or the mothership is released. It stinks because to me of late, SVU has severely gone downhill with the writing, while CI and the mothership has drastically improved the writing and storylines. I have been so disappointed in SVU that I am seriously considering not purchasing season 7, 8, or 9 of SVU once they are released that is how bad the show has gotten.

I agree with you that Universal will probably catch up with releasing SVU before they even look at releasing The original or CI. And im glad to hear that the original and CI's writing has improved, has SVU really gone downhill? My only chance to see the shows are the DVD's so i wouldnt know rolleyes.gif

I have all 3 first seasons on dvd...But my tv stays on USA most of the time..and Bravo on sundays, after the new epi airs...to watch the old ones there anyway. I usually watch my dvd's on the weekends or late late at night when i cannot sleep... then, back to USA at 4am, to watch LOCI some more. I would say, I do listen to it...more than i watch since I have a computer business and am here on the boards.

I like SVU a lot...I think there were some awesome episodes this season. I own the first season of that L&O as well, 1-5 so far. I watch it every Tuesday on NBC. I am looking forward to the new episodes airing in the fall. The only part I can say I dislike is them losing so many of the original characters. I used to watch ER faithfully, every week (yes me the person who hates doctors)...but when they started losing so many of the original characters...I just lost interest.

I watched ER faithfully for years. Then I would lose interest and stop for a while, then I would see a preview that looked good and watch and get hooked for a while, then lose interest. Last season I lost interest again. But it looks like Carter is coming back. I may have to check it out when it starts its new (and last) season.
