I'm watching the first episode of the third season right now, and I thought it was funny, because I remember a while back there was a thread about swearing....I think Shawn had said "Son of a b*tch", or something like that. The debate seemed to be about whether Psych was meant to be a family show or otherwise. Well he says it when he and Gus fight at Gus's work, and he kinda made me laugh.. Mainly because I don't think the swearing is a big deal.

I thought it was hilarious when Shawn called Gus an S.O.B, too funny! Being a trucker's wife, cuss words are part of the every day, no big deal smile.gif

I embrace it tongue.gif LMAO! I thought it was cute though. The use of bada$$ made me laugh too. But I mean really, you've got two best friends that are adults...come on lol, they're gonna cuss.

Yeah the new episode came on Friday. It was a pretty good show (as always!)

But back to the topic, I agree with sarcasm. Shawn and Gus are both adults. There is going to be some swearing.

And considering the situations they were in for "Ghosts", it really worked!

As to whether or not this is a family-oriented show, I can't tell you. But anything that airs at 10:00 is not pointed towards a younger audience (that's my opinion at least).

Shawn worked at a casino, right? Of course, he would've heard cursing in more languages than one could imagine! I, for one, can imagine him uttering a soft yet disrespectful "baaaahh-ka" ("idiot" - but much worse - in Japanese) or "ksoo!" ('crap!' - If you're an anime fan, you'll recognize these words right away...). wink.gif

S: Baaaah-ka. [Idiot.]
G: Wait a minute, Shawn. I know that word from somewhere.
S: Where did you hear this from? I learned it from some Japanese customers at the casino when they lost all their money.
G: Oh, I remember. Anime characters say it all the time...
S: Gus, Gus... You should really wean yourself away from those - the comic books were bad enough for your image.

I really don't see this as a "family" show. I mean, there is a bit of sexual humor in it. It's all pretty subtle and g-rated in comparison to most things on TV today, but it's there. If you have a problem with your children hearing an occasional cuss, I highly doubt that you'd appreciate Shawn and Lindsay spending the night together... or the "magic hands"... or the handcuffs.

Of course, I find it freaking hilarious, so I'm definately NOT complaining. XD

I let my younger cousins (9 - 5 yrs.) watch Psych, but I only let them watch the episodes I've seen. It doesn't matter what they say to me because they've read worse when they watch anime with their mother.
