Full Version: I miss Deakins!

dry.gif I adore Deakins, IMO. Which would you choose? Is it simply because you're used to Ross, or do you think Ross is a jerk toward Bobby? Your call! Sorry, I scewed up. For Deakins, type your vote.

Hard to say. I'd love to see Deakins come back, but Jamey doesn't want to play him anymore. Ross/EB has grown on me. Both good for different reasons, as has been stated here before on other threads.....

angelica
I liked Deakins better. Ross is stoic. However, I recently saw him in another movie playing a character that actually had personality.

I'm Okay with Ross... which is to say that I think he's an SOB but conflict makes for good television so I'm okay with that.. lol

But I miss Deakins too. I wish he were still around in some capacity or another. Maybe there is a way to coax Jamey Sheridan back for a few eppy's here and there. smile.gif

Would really like to see that! Maybe Deakins is working somewhere as Chief of Security and there's a murder at his company....guess who he'd want investigating?
Haven't visited the fanfic area yet, so maybe someone also had this idea and ran with it.

I will say about Ross.......I really didn't care for the character when he first started, felt he really had it in for our Bobby. Now, especially after Betrayal, Ross has grown on me. I feel now that Ross knew he was stepping into huge and popular shoes, and had to be an butt-kicker in order to establish that he was now captain. And I can respect that.

I wish I could but I can't respect the way he subtly gets in between people. He splits them so they aren't telling each other everything so he's the only one who knows all the cards out there and thus secures his power base. Can you tell I had a boss like that once? LOL. It makes for a miserable workplace.

Good point.....makes you wonder if the detectives have figured that out yet. What I meant about it is that he had to make it known that he was in charge now. I can respect it but it doesn't mean that I have to like it. Am I expressing this right?
Maybe Ross has grown on me, but that doesn't mean I prefer him. It took me almost 2 years to even admit that much, that he's grown on me.
You're not kidding about the workplace situation....it IS misery-making!

apparently, I couldn't convince myself to stay out of this topic, which I'm not particularly sure is a good thing just yet, but in any case, here I am.

Of course, considering the colorbar you're all going to see when this is posted (unless photobucket ate the link again), I'm not too sure I need to voice my opinion on this, but whatever. I definitely miss Deakins and wish Ross would go away (not likely, but one can always wish, no?). It would be nice to have Jamey Sheridan around again for an episode or two, but the only way I see that happening (IMO, anyway) is if CI were to ever come to an end (heaven forbid, LOL).

Anyway, there's my two-cents on it; I think I'll go before I start any further on the subject than I have in other places. biggrin.gif

I liked Deakins. He actually looked like an Old Cop, whereas Ross... I dunno, maybe it's a generational thing as well. I can't really see him working his way up from foot patrol so much.
svufan2151
all though i believe that ross is a gullible fool that shouldnt be the captain of catholic school soccer team and especially not the mcs i have to admit i like him better than deakins. i dont even no y i just dont. i can honestly say I DONT MIISS DEAKINS!!!
culen
I enjoyed Deakins, I miss his fatherly demeanor, his elegant presence, his quirky sense of humor. He was above his officers in a way that Ross never will be, but that was just it. He was never shown in any kind of personal episode. We never got into him the way we have with Ross.

Ross has been shown more in depth and we have more than just his words for details on his background. I think Ross is hunky in a way that I'd never have thought of Deakins, because his character wasn't available. I think Ross is a more Junior Captain than Deakins was at a time when CI needed a different more involved Captain. They need someone who can go out in the field to work with people, something they never gave Deakins a chance to do except one time.

Truthfully if they had given Deakins the role that Ross has, he never would have left. Two captains, two different command styles. They simply can't be compared. IMHO, of course.

Ross has grown on me, but I would love to see Deakins and Carver come back as guest, maybe when Logan leaves.

I agree......would make a great episode. After all, it was Deakins who called in all those favors to get Logan to MCS, right?

this is rather off-topic, but I bet EB has natural curl. I have it too....and right now there's so much humidity where I live, I'm looking a bit like Bob Ross right now rolleyes.gif

While Danny has made progress with me....DEAKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss Jamey.

And while we're at it...can we bring back CARVER too???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOlover
I miss deakins too
lrt28
I like them both. At first, I didn't like Ross because he was such a b*st%rd. But, I think he has changed. I think he acted like that at first because he was the new captin on the scene and he needed to prove himself. Plus, he wasn't use to a guy like Bobby. Hey, lets face it. Bobby said himself that he was an acquired taste (which I have definately acquired).
I wouldn't mind seeing Deakins here or there, though.

The thing I miss most about Carver is his wardrobe. The man had style. He was the best dressed man on TV.

Plus he kept Goren in check.

Even though I missed Deakins, I really grown a fond with Ross. His attitude and persona really differ Deakin's approach. I wish in one episode these two meet.

It will be cool if Deakins make it to Logan leave since it was him who brought him to MCS (besides Wolf).

I remember in an epi when Carver told Bobby he would make a good prosecutor. I seem to agree with that!

ITA. Also, he brought another element to the show that I miss. Sometimes he was helping G/E set someone up, the next eppy they'd have to find a way to work around him, then he'd be making them nuts saying he didn't have enough for a case. I miss the arias in his office, the occasional courtroom scene. We didn't get to see Goren on the stand often, but it was a treat when we did. It just feels like we lost more than just Carver when we lost Carver.

That being said, I'm still convinced it was a financial decision not to replace him. One less lead means one less lead salary.

I dunno. He's a born investigator, but I don't think he's a comfortable speaker. Sure, he's great in the box, but remember that time he had to present his theory to a room full of brass in "Poison"? I don't think he swayed anyone in that room.

Not sure....thought it had something to do with him and his wife starting a family?

true, KRod, but.......I too remember Poison, and how he ended up defending his theory and the suspect fitting the profile. Perhaps a one-on-one or small group is better for him.

Please at least bring Deakins back for a guest appearance. Maybe he could talk to Bobby and help him get thru his tough times.

Hi Goddess! Deakins would put G&E in there place, instead of contradicting Bobby and pissing him off like Ross does quite often, IMO.

Unfortunately i cannot make a vote because we have only finished S5 over here in the UK which i think is the one Deakins leaves but what i can say is that Deakins is a good actor so maybe when the next season starts i take it then that is when this Ross starts
krodgers
Losing Deakins would be like replacing Cragen on SUV, IMO.

I don't know if everybody saw the news...

Jamey Sheridan is going to be in a mystery movie series with Jane Seymour on the Hallmark Channel. The first one airs tomorrow (Saturday) at 9pm Eastern and Courtney Vance is going to be on ER this coming season.

I loved it when Jamey Sheridan was the Captain on LOCI! Maybe he'll make a guest appearance, especially with the wicked Nicole coming back! Deakins would love to get a hold of her as much as Bobby does!

I saw that about about Vance being on ER next season. I might turn over to see how he's doing on there but I've stopped watching that three seasons ago. I think it would be great if they brought Deakins back just for one episode so we can see that he's alright with his new life. And it would be funny if Ross and Deakins left the squad room at the end going to have a drink and discuss a few things while they looked at Bobby and Alex as they left with that funny smile Deakins has.
