Hey everyone! What an ordeal. I tried to log on last night immediately after the episode to comment and couldn't get in with the e-mail address and password I have been using for my account -- that's why I say USA's instructions are useless. I did what they say to do above. I then searched the site to locate a place to send feedback, sent an e-mail to USA and went to bed.

This morning I tried USA's instructions again and I still couldn't get online. I realized that I should try behaving as if I had forgotten my password in case the system dropped/reset my password. That worked. I received an e-mail with a new, numeric password, and logged in with it.

I went into "My Controls" to change the numeric password to one that I could remember. You have to answer two new questions, gender and zip code, to change it.

Both my computers automatically log me on, so I haven't had any probs (yet!) but I'm emailing this to myself, just in case smile.gif

Thanks for the info!

Ah, I see, t-girl - thanks for the heads up on that. I now have had three login names (variants of the one I'm using) since posting to this board last week, lol! I'll probably go back and try to pick up my old login ID so I can look less newbie-like in my number of posts. wink.gif
LuLuNY
I haven't had problems yet. It usually asks me to log in anyway so I guess I"m used to it.
NatashaFatale
i was fine logging in the old way yesterday until the evening, then, BAM. no luck.

glad it worked for you, tgirl. Frustrating indeed. When I tried requesting a new password be sent last night, it kept telling me that "Your email address was not found". So they've somehow completely deleted my email address, yet still have my old profile on the site - how the heck do I get it back?

I know my email address was valid because still have the original registration email that the USA forum sent me when I first joined; plus whenever I got pms, the USA forum would sent me an email notification to that same email address. I even tried my old activation code - it won't let me - says that I don't have to activate, yet "it's possible this account has been removed." huh?

It seems a few random others on the other TV show forums on USA Network encountered the same problem, and had to re-register. Per USA's email notification about the updates to logging in, "If you are still unable to log in after the migration, please reply to this message for assistance." I've replied as indicated but haven't gotten a response yet. Are they working on it still? Are they going to let us know? Is the webmaster/admin going to post any help threads? Anything? Anyone? Or do I just suck it up and use my spankin' newly created profile?

um... Bueller?

Admin, please help NatashaFatale -- she's a constant contributer to this site. Any ideas on getting Admin's help Bubba?

You are not alone... I had to create a new log in id also.. seems I'm starting from scratch too! Although I hated my previous id still hate to lose all my previous posts oh well. It's me an I'm still here.

tgirl's advice worked - it was a pain in the you-know-what but I managed to log in under my old ID this evening. So far so good! Thanks again, tgirl!

Danj and I both had problems logging in. The system did not accept my email address and password. I clicked on the "lost password" option and the system sent a new password to my email address. Obviously the system accepted it. Apparently a system hiccup.

Am feeling your pain, you guys...oh yes, burned and screwed! dry.gif If this helps anyone else out there who might be having similar problems:

1. Couldn't log in with original email. Asked for new password. Never received one. Next day...
2. Set up new account with new email. Never received USA email to complete registration login. Next day...
3. Set up another new account with another new email. Ditto on not receiving USA email back.
4. Third day...set up 4th new account with email from an entirely different mail service. That worked!!

Thanks so much all of you who posted solutions. For some reason USA just couldn't get through to my primary email site. Maybe it all went to spam. Well, at least I'm in fabulous company in newbie-ville with Di and Natasha...(sorry you guys lost your posts, too!!) We can commiserate together. Wow...from pooh-bah to stranger...oh well...it's just good to be back!!

Well I was having problems last night and could not log in...Thursday night was fine, I was automatically logged in when I visited the site, but last night no luck.

I know I was using the correct email address and password, but decided to try the forgot password link. Well that didn't work either with that I received an error message that the email address was not found.

Next I pulled up the email from when USA where they notified about the board update and that I should use the email address the message had been sent to. It did say to reply to that email if I had problems after the migration, so I did that. I never did get a response to that email, but tonight when I came back to the sight I was once again automatically signed in.

Go figure. That reminds me of work, every time they make some change, or do some upgrade we have problems an half the time can't get our work done, often with client impact.

LGia19
Ok, had some problems too.. maybe somebody knows an answer.
Um had log-in problems got Usa to email a new password but then that password didnt work. Tried 4 separate times. Closed out everthing came back in again and then it worked. Is it fifth times the charm? Anyway my question is now i dont see when Messages come in -it says 0 even though there are messages and they are linked in my personal email. ? and can I change my password that they gave me or should I keep it cause that will mess things up more? Sorry I am technology-challenged to begin with so... I am amazed I even figured out the forum thus far. ha. Thanks for giving the heads up tgirl or I really would of thought it was all me & my 'wonderful' computer. Peace. smile.gif

I am nervous now about the first time I will have to log in because I have heard sooooo many people having problems. I never sign out so my computer seems to remember me but the first time I do have to log in it sounds like I will have an issue. Why did they change it anyway?
Bubba__Bridges
Hi Bubba here, it looks like this upgrade has bitten me too. mad.gif I thought I would see if I could log out and log back in under the new upgrade, this was late Thursday night. Admin has been working on trying to get me back on in my old account. All I can tell you is, don't log out.

I pm'ed admin late Thursday night and Friday he sent me one back and told me if I haven't gotten back in with old account to let him know. Haven't heard back yet and of course it would have to be the weekend. blink.gif

Thanks, Bubba! Thanks, too, for the advice on not logging out. All I can say is it would be criminal if you don't get your posts back, Bubba. You are the king!!!! Hope all the problems get worked out early this week.
tgirl
Oh man! I thought I might have found the answer to help everyone, but not so. Since so many people have been affected, I bet Admin will try to fix the problem. My difficulty was minor in comparison. Those of you frequent posters who have photoshop/video/smiley skills probably lost quick access to your compilation of work.

CAGilder
I tried logging in from my computer at home last night, and the site wouldn't let me. I did the "e-mail me my password" trick (as suggested here)... And it worked for me! Yay!
Cardinal2504
I had trouble tonight, too. I use a variety of browsers, and on Firefox, I was somehow logged out. When I attempted to log back in, I was given the same error most of you had. I then tried getting a new password, and had the "E-mail does not exist" error come back.

I sent an e-mail to admin, but have no idea if I'll get a response. Right now, I'm logged in on IE, but I'm afraid of what might happen if I inadvertently get logged out.

Hi there...VDOVault here...one of the crazy Criminal Intent fans

I love Burn Notice too but I don't read here very often and post here even less.

Just wanted you all to know that Criminal Intent fans are discussing this problem here

Hopefully this will all get worked out before my buds all leave and create another board elsewhere (they are really really angry unsure.gif )

YIKES! This must be a huge problem. I haven't had to sign in yet because I never sign out but I am dreading the time when I do. I hope Admin is working on resolving this issue!
TexasScaper
They had the same kind of problems when they upgraded the SciFi boards earlier this year (back in February I think), and the problems are still going on. Established posters not being able to log in with their email address and password. The system saying they don't exist. Many had to create new logins and lost all of their posting history. Some apparently are still having problems getting a stable login. On mine I was somehow able to get my old user name back but lost all history. Of course a previous upgrade had made it so that my post count never increased and I was eternally labeled as a stranger, but at least it had my original registration date. The problems are still going on there.

These message board upgrades can be nasty things. I sure hope they are able to clean up the problems here better than they've done on the SciFi boards.

Thanks, VDOVault, for posting that. Read through the entire thread (you've got a fun group of people over there!)...sorry to hear so many of you are affected, too. I pm'd WKC-Admin two days ago, but haven't heard back yet. Wish they'd at least post online with updates on working things out. One thing I've noticed since getting back on with new account is inability to copy/paste. Anyone else experiencing that?

I tried PM'ing both usaadmin and WKCAdmin this morning, and for both I got an error message that said their inboxes were full... I think I know why, now.

Hey, I'm another one of the crazy Law & Order: Criminal Intent fans (who also happens to lurk in the Burn Notice boards, and gaze at pictures of JD...oh wait back on topic)

I have a running theory. A few of us have discovered that we are all using email address from AT&T owned internet providers (such as Bellsouth and SBC). And we know that a couple of months ago we stopped getting emails from the boards, like PM notifications etc. I think the AT&T is somehow blocking the emails from USA, thus when USA gets a return notification on our email accounts, USA is deleting our emails from the system. Thus why we are having problems logging in.

Is there anyone out there who can confirm or bust this theory? We're really trying to save our posting histories here (I'm logged in at home, but can't log in anywhere else).

I just read through the entire L&OCI thread too, and I came across another way someone got back to their old identity. I copied and will paste it here. The following was posted by "omerta3" on p.3 of that thread.

"Hey everyone, I was having the same problem most of you are having with the login. I clicked register and typed in my email address again and it told me I was already registered with that email address. Then I was asked if I wanted to continue registering and I clicked yes and it asked me for the password I used when I first registered so I did that and my account came back. Has anyone else tried that?"

The L&OCI people are also wondering if anything will be done to fix this situation, and someone suggested calling and writing to USA since the people who have the power to fix the problem may not be reading these boards. I got the following from clicking on the "Feedback" link at the bottom right corner of this screen: "PHONE Call the NBC switchboard at 212-664-4444, and ask to leave a message on the USA Network Viewer Hotline. Please note that we are not able to return any calls." That page also lists USA's address as USA Network, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 21st Floor, New York, NY 10112.

If they're not too angry to come to this site any more, I just want to say "miss you" to NatashaFatale and Bubba Bridges. As two of the group who carried on the vigil for almost a year waiting for this show to air again, you're like old pals now. Hope we'll get to hear from you again.

I had a problem with getting USA emails at my AT&T email account when I tried registering with my SBC email address, but the account that got messed up was a gmail account. I haven't been able to log in since last week when the switch happened. I tried the Forgot Password thing and that didn't work. I tried emailing USA but they never got back to me. So I tried making a new account with my sbcglobal address but I never got the confirmation email from USA in that account, even after resending it a few times. Then I tried registering with my hotmail account, but since that one was linked to the NBC forums, it wouldn't let me register with it. So I was forced into lurker mode.

Finally, I broke down and created an entirely new email address just to log into these forums! Such an ordeal. I wonder if they are ever going to fix the old accounts?
NatashaFatale
thanks tgirl & everyone for your thoughts! i really missed the board - it's been such a bummer with all this craziness going on. And thanks VDOVault & CIFan & Bubba and everyone for letting us know it's happening all over the forum, and to 707 for the SciFi forum tip.

Basically I just need to vent.

Worst. Upgrade. Ever.

Apparently Characters are welcome. Members… not so much.

I was going to give admin/the webmaster a few days to get back to us with an update of somekind – just a word or two, even – but they seem at a loss as to what to communicate – anybody know Madeline’s therapist phone number? We could use some help here.

I did just finally managed to log back in as my old original NatashaFatale profile, after trying all weekend, and then buckling down these last 5 hours straight using sheer determination and trying everything under the sun and I’m not happy about it. Not to mention, I’m still not exactly 100% sure what it was that finally made it happen and I’m afraid to ever log out again.

The thing that really cheeses me off is that these exact same forum “upgrades” happened previously on other NBC/Uni forums (NBC.com, SciFi, etc) with the exact same problems for members logging in.

In fact, the SciFi forum was given the exact same notice/instructions that we were:
http://www.scifi.com/members/migration/

And with the exact same results: at least 233 members (at least on the BattlestarGalactica forum or more) effected. They jokingly called it their Feb.11th purge. Their laments (same as ours ) are here:
http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopi...t=0&start=0

At least they were able to put together one thread to list everyone who was effected, to help their admin better solve their problems:
http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopic=2300976
Sadly, it started back in Feb. and of the 233 names listed, only 3 or 4 have been fixed to date. All the rest had to re-register as newbies or they just left, as far as I can tell. Sounds like the NBC.com board went through it too, and it’s happened in the past, and will likely happen again.

Which makes me think, sadly, that we can pretty much expect the same. It’s been 6 months for them and they didn’t get theirs all fixed. I’d love for admin to please please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t see much hope for an “overall” fix happening.

There may be, if admin is up for it, a chance they they can help those with problems if they can get to each one individually? Would it help, admin, if we created a list of all those having problems in one thread (list only, not a complaint thread) like the SciFi one? Perhaps Admin (or Bubba?) could start a thread someone where everyone can find it in a general area (the Character Lounge?) to list their profile name & problem summarized?

UPDATE: USA Forum list created: please post here if you are having problems:
http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=403234

I noticed on the SciFi forum that although their admin “didn’t have the ability to change your account name but they can merge the old account into the account you have that is active.” Could ours do that?

If not, then admin can find all the threads already here on the USA Forums regarding these login problems here:

BN http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...402960&st=0

CI: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=403061

Monk: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...403049&st=0

NashvilleStar: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...403022&st=0
http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...&hl=logging

SVU: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?sho...&start=3720

and probably more.

I know admin is probably dealing with a mass of issues right now, so I’ll try to be sympathetic if it’s out of their hands, but if they can’t let us know anything, can they let us know through another member?

It’s just that all this info would have been so much more helpful BEFORE the purge. Alas, here we are now, and for those of you just discovering your login problems now, here’s the basics of what I could piece together culled from all the USA forums & the SciFi forums (apologizes to those who I’m quoting – I just mashed all I could find together):

What we know:
1. Seems like it is randomly effecting random email hosts: yahoo, hotmail, bellsouth – so it doesn’t seem like just one email host is the problem.
2. The Sci Fi Forums & The NBC board (and now USA) had the same upgrades/migrations happen & the same problems. All are under NBC Universal. (Is there an IT department at NBC-U who handles all forums?)
3. PM’s to USAAdmin, admin1, admin2 and WKC_Admin and get a message saying their inbox is full. Emails to admin/webmaster haven’t gotten replies yet.

Things to Try:
Here’s my best recollection of what people have tried – I can’t say that any one thing will do it – just try them all I guess.

1. Don’t Log Out.
Don’t ever log out ever again even if your life depended on it.

2. Cookies are important.
From SciFi Forum: Do not log out. Hold on to your cookie. Because to log back in, you must supply the email address you originally registered with. Even if that email account is long gone it does not matter, you need to remember what it was. If your current email address in your profile is different, was changed at anytime after registration, it's not going to work as the log in. (aka: For those of you trapped 'tween dimensions, make sure you allow all cookies from scifi and then alternately log in and swear until it finally works.)

3. Get a new password sent.
If you can’t login, pretend you forgot your password and click the “forgot password” to get a new numerical password sent to you – then you can log into your account and change it to the password you want.

4. New password not working? Keep requesting more.
For ex. Got USA to email a new password but then that password didn’t work after trying many times, try closing out everthing & then come back in again and see if it works….had to wade through a list of new passwords but when one finally got in …just keep trying. For ex. the relogin went okay despite initial messages of 'that name & email are already in use' when trying to login with my correct email address and password.

5. Try a different web browser
Try a different browser: Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Safari, etc.

6. Pure Luck
It kept saying that the email was incorrect but I knew for sure that was the one I registered with. I lost count of how many times I tried and how many times I applied for a new password. Then all of a sudden it worked.

7. Login with any past NBC-related login.
If you’re registered (currently or ever in the past) on another NBC site (NBC.com, Scifi etc.) try using that login. You may end up with that NBC.om identity/username here on the USA forum.
For ex. My email was attached to an NBC user name that I had eons ago and they wanted that password.
For Ex. Went to reregister and see what happens. Well it worked...it had my email listed as also being registered on MyNBC and just changed my password to the NBC's password.
Once logged into NBC.com, etc., you may have to request a new password from NBC.com be sent to you, if that works, login into NBC.com and change your password, and try to change your username if wanted (on your NBC.com login you have one chance to change your username, after that you can’t change it) and then try logging on back here at usa.

8. Register with original email instead of logging in
This has seemed to work for more than a few people.
A. For ex. I was having the same problem most of you are having with the login. I clicked register and typed in my email address again and it told me I was already registered with that email address. Then I was asked if I wanted to continue registering and I clicked yes and it asked me for the password I used when I first registered so I did that and my account came back.
B. For ex. Try going to login screen, then click "register." Type your email address you registered with in the space and let it first tell you if it remembers it from there. It didn't remember my email from the login screen or the "forgot password" screen but it did remember it from this other screen. If it says something like yes, this email may have been registered, then type in your old password on the next screen. It worked for me and didn't make me change my password. It can't hurt to try it. I hope you can get back into your old account.
C. Note: Some have tried this, but it wouldn't take their password.
D. For ex. Thanks for your post about trying to register instead of login with your email. It took forever but I finally got in. And yes, it picked up my identity from when I was on NBC. Kept throwing me into My NBC. But I'm here.

E. When you register & type in your orig email address, you’ll get this message:

1. You may already be registered with myNBC!
You appear to have already registered an account with this email address. If you'd like to continue, we will merge your existing information with this new registration. If not, you will have to use a new email address.

2. Choose Yes, continue registering this account. I agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
3. Message: This email address is already registered. If this is your email address please provide the correct password associated with this account. (If you forgot your password click here.)
4. Enter your orig password
you’ll either get:

a. bad message: The following error has occurred: Your Email/Password combination was incorrect. Please try again.
(this worked for me after logging in at mynbc.com & using Safari, not Mozilla)
b. good message: You’re almost done!
Please click "Save" in order to complete your registration on the USA Network Forums
Enter email
(but I got no spot to enter it)
Display name (but I got no spot to enter it)
Save button

c. another bad message: The following error has occurred:
There was a communications error that has been logged. Please try again

(Frustrated, I then went back to main usa page, then back to forum & I was logged in already without having done anything, as my old profile – crazy!!!!)

9. Check all spellings/caps
Per SciFi forum: from admin to a member:
The email associated with that account is Xyz@XXXXXXX.XXX
Please try it with the case as shown and see if it works. I don't have the ability to change your account name but I can merge the old account into the account you have that is active. That way you'll have your correct post count and PMs.
Regards,
scifiadmin1

10. Re-Register as a newbie
If you’ve tried it all and still no luck or you get: “Your email address was not found”, there doesn’t seem to be a solution yet. A lot of people are getting this message.
Likely you’ll have to register again.
If probs registering: If you are trying to register anew and it won’t send you an email registration, try using a different email account and different email server.
When you re-register, You may be able to get your old user/screenname/handler/handle name back but will possibly lose all history. Or not. For Ex. FINALLY got back on after a week of trying. Re-registered with a slight name change, yet my info is intact, including my saved PM's. Weird.
Sadly, with some new accounts you may have: no post history, no PM's, can't edit previous posts, and a test showed that inbound PM's are probably going to the original account (I tested this before I got my orig profile back, and yes, a pm to my old profile did send an email notification to my original email account, but following the link from there back to USA said : message does not exist).

That’s all I got. I managed to get my orig profile back with a combo of #3,4,5,6,7, & 8 above. I can only get in on Safari also (I use a mac) now too. I couldn’t tell you which exactly did it. I hope it stays.

I’m going to try & post this in all the USA threads.
Good luck to you all!
tgirl
Welcome back Mayuko and NatashaFatale! Natasha, once again, you prove to be one-heck-of-an investigator and reporter. Our main ambassador, Bubba Bridges, is still missing and probably some others we haven't heard from yet. I renew my plea: please don't give up, we miss you!

I will write a letter on behalf of those who can't get back in if the problems don't end soon, and I hope that others will too. I share everyone's disbelief that not a word of explanation, apology or just anything along those lines has been posted by the management to address this situation. No, it's not a tragedy like a tornado killing people and wiping out property, but all the captioneering posted in the "What are they saying?" thread on this BN forum by you Natasha, all the newbies' questions answered continually by Bubba in multiple forums, and all the expressions of delight with USA's shows posted by all of us serve to promote them. We do what we do because we like doing it, but since we do help USA/NBC's bottom line, some respect from USA/NBC (i.e. the honor of at least a group reply/announcement/explanation/apology) is in order and overdue.

Hi Bubba here, I just thought I would drop and say hello to everyone. I haven't been on much due to the upgrade and plus I am having problem with my right eye. I'm okay, I went to the doctor and all. I think my problem (with the upgrade) lies between Bellsouth/AT&T.

Like some of you have mentioned, when I get a PM with my old account, I would get a email. About a few weeks ago those stopped. I meant to ask admin about it, but never got around to it. I tried the examples you guys gave, thank you by the way for those, but it doesn't work. I'm trying to get my Bellsouth/AT&T email back up and running, it's been down for some reason and I will try some of those steps again.

Thanks to everyone who still thinks about me, hopefully I will be back full time soon. Maybe if I can get going again, I can assist others here. smile.gif

Thanks, Roy cool.gif

Hope you're OK Bubba.

Ya the system has problems all right, hope Admin is working on it. I got back in by clicking on the "lost password" option. The system then sent a new password to my email address which worked and let me in. Now the system will not remember me and every time I go to this site it takes me to the log in menu where I have to reenter my email address and password. Weird.

Ok, gang. I just create a thread in the Character Lounge--basically a signup sheet for those having problems. Thread is located here: http://forums.usanetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=403234

Hopefully this will get admin's attention and get someone working on this.
LuLuNY
Now I know how everyone has been feeling trying to log back in. I did what everyone else did and got a numeric number to put in as a password then changed it back to one I can remember which is the exact same as I had. Let me back in for the time being. I think a drink is in order. Mojito!!!

Thanks for starting the list TennesseeCIFan. I've updated my posts to help others find it. Hopefully admin will see it.

In order to login I still can only use Safari & I have to reregister my orig email and go through all those steps until I get an error, then click back on the usa page, then click on the forum, and I am somehow logged in then. I have to do all these steps every time. Very annoying.

Ack!!

I finally made it here! That was...well, not simple.
But it worked.

thanks tgirl & everyone for your thoughts! i really missed the board - it's been such a bummer with all this craziness going on.

Good luck to you all!

At least you haven’t lost your sense of humor, NatashaFatale, lol. Thanks for the stellar review of everything that has happened - I sure hope it helps the administrators and forum members alike. I’ve been lurking here since early June and finally began posting just before the season 2 premiere of BN and I have felt the absence of many of you here. I hope this is all resolved sooner than later. *keeping fingers crossed*

Just wanted to say thanks to NatashaFatale for such a great and thorough post. I tried a lot of those things on that list but not all of them, and I wasn't as persistent with some of the other solutions. Now that I know that persistence may help, I will try some of the old methods again. Maybe there's hope for my old account yet...

And thanks TennesseeCIfan for the list, I posted on that thread as well.

Yes, luckily just my account & ego were slightly damaged... my humor is still intact, thank goodness. wink.gif
As long as Michael Westen is burned, I will also fight the good fight and strive for my witty best.

Don't give up Mayuko! We love to have you here - regardless of which screenname - same goes for jennaV and miamijim and everyone else - ya'll are so great - the forum just wouldn't be the same - we don't want to lose anyone!

Bubba - I hope your eye is better!

one last rant: I also find it odd that they chose one of the busiest times of the year - during all their summer premieres, when there is the most activity I've ever seen on the forum - to do the upgrade. Ah well... i am just talking to myself now! carry on.

Okay, I have a stupid question regarding how to update my profile info (so I can add an IM screen name, my location, all the stuff that shows up under my screen name when I post). Now, I've looked at the help documentation page/FAQ page that the USA network has provided me and I swear that I've followed their directions on how to update this stuff - but the thing is, as far as I can tell there *is* no option to input any of this stuff (my location, any ICQ/IM login IDs, etc). Am I just being mentally challenged about all of this, guys? Or is this related to the system upgrades and they've moved stuff around from where it used to be? huh.gif
TexasScaper
This is very frustrating.

Right after the upgrade I had come to the boards and was automatically logged in. I didn't have to do anything at all. Well the next day when I came back I was not logged in, and when I tried I just got error messages.

I did try the forgot password link, but when I put in my email address...the same address they had sent the email notification about the board upgrade to, I received a message that the email was not on file. So I went to that email and as instructed replied to it stating my problem.

Well the next time I came back to the board I didn't have to log in, just coming to the board it showed as I was logged in as 707, the same name I'd had since I had registered with back in August of 2007. As so it remained the next couple of visits.

Then today, I was once again logged out, and could not login after multiple attempts I tried the forgot email link and again was told my email address was not on file. This time I tried the register link and when I entered my email there it said that email was already registered on the SciFi board.

Well I knew I had a login there as I'd had problems with that one when they upgraded that board back in February. On that one I had to go through a re-registration, and while I'd gotten my old handle back (one that was different than what I'd registered with on this board) I was now a newbie again, with a brand new registration date.

So I decided to proceed with the merging of the two logins to see what would happen. Well guess what on this board I still have my original registration date and all of my associated posts, but now I have my SciFi name instead of my USA name.

And that's how 707 became TexasScaper. I wonder if there is a way to change my handle on this site. While I'm still a fan of FarScape, it has been off the air for several years now and has nothing to do with the USA boards (except that the network that canceled it before it's time is now owned by the same company that owns USA, and is going around wreaking havoc on all it's message boards...one at a time).

This is all just nuts!! You'd think they'd make sure they had worked through their problems before unleashing them on another of their sites. Actually sounds like where I work, they are going to stick to their roll out time line regardless of the problems encountered and the impact on everyone. You wouldn't want anyone to think you can't meet your commitments right?
jennaV
TexasScaper (707) ....unbelievable!!! Well, then again, after the last week and a half, guess I can believe anything especially when it comes to the craziness of this upgrade. I hope it will be straightened out for you. Am still waiting to hear from Admin myself, but nothing yet.
NatashaFatale
Don't forget to add your name to the list of others here so hopefully admin can help you TexasScaper/707.

Sadly, I think you're out of luck. The profile controls are different now and much more limited, so we can't do as much to our profiles. I'm afraid that won't changed unless they do another upgrade (*egads*!). The only new thing I see on the profile editing is "purchase paid subscriptions" or whatever that means - seems useless to me.

This upgrade is still wonky - I see just as many spam emails as ever, plus more pop up ads, and posting is really really slow and takes forever, at least for me. *shrugs*

Thank you, I've added my info to that post.

You know on the profile, when SciFi "upgraded" their boards in February, at first you couldn't many many profile changes either, then later some changes it wasn't allowing previously suddenly became availabe. It really doesn't seem they are learning anything from one board upgrade to the next.

707/TexasScaper, it appears from your comments and similar ones from others that this was a decision made by some one or some group above USA in the chain of command. Do you know who the parent company of USA is, and if so, how?

Is BN gettting a BN of it's own from those not wanting BN to become successful series?

I've always wondered why, "if it's not broken, don't fix it," hasn't become a Murphy's Law phrase.
DanJ2
DanJ here, posting under the new handle of DanJ2 because the system won't let me log in under the original account. I had to resort to getting a new email account and re-registering just to get back in here.

Apparently this board no longer talks to bellsouth.net. We now have to give our email address to log in instead of our handle, and the system keeps telling me that my email address is invalid. NOT, since I continue to recieve email from everyone and everything else under the sun. Only this board tells me that bellsouth.net is an invalid email address. What's up with this?

Even if the system were to be reset so we can log in under our handles instead of email addresses, at this point I wouldn't be able to use my original account because I don't know my password any more - I have clicked on the "Request New Password" button so many times now that whatever new passwords might have been sent to me are lost out there in cyberspace somewhere.

I'd prefer to continue with my original handle/account if possible, so System Administrator if you're out there please advise how the heck am I supposed to reset my original account if I can't get to it no way no how?

USA along with SciFi is owned by NBC Universal, and even though the message boards for each of the networks (USA, SciFi, and NBC) are separate they all appear to be built on the same platform and are apparently linked somehow in the background. So if you have a login on one board and use the same email address for a login on another of their boards these upgrades appear to be merging them.

It looks like the fact that NBC Universal owns USA may be why we now have first run episodes of L&O: CI on USA instead of NBC, and why during the writers' strike you started seeing episodes of Monk and Psyche on NBC. We've also occasionally seen shows cross over between USA and SciFi ( one example I can think of is they had shown episodes of 4400 on SciFi when that was still running)

I only have one account for this and it actually is letting me get back in the original way after cursing everything in site to get back on with the passwords and emails. Funny since I tried setting up with my other email account and it stated I was already on this one but needed a new password after they gave me the number one. I changed it back to it's original as I can't remember numbers that well anymore. It let me back in and so far so good. If it goes out. I guess another amount of cursing will start and well, I guess it's back to more alias'....... Hope everthing gets back to normal soon. It's annoying....

My USA-Welcome-to-Upgrade-Purgatory-story is the same, DanJ2, except it's sbcglobal.net that USA is not recognizing for me. Tried to open a new account here using two other sbcglobal email addresses, but although USA says they sent emails for me to complete registration, I never received them, nor any of the 50,000+ requests for a new password for my original account. Several on SVU forum have experienced the same type of problems with sbcglobal or bellsouth. I've tried emailing AT&T about the failure to receive USA emails, but no response. Am still hoping for a merge of original and current account, but although I've gotten a pm through to Admin once, have not heard back, and their message boxes have been full all week. If anyone does get a response from Admin, would love to hear what they have to say. mellow.gif
