I'm a huge LOCI fan, as all of you but, look at the new drama shows out now, Saving Grace, The Closer, NCIS, etc. Mr. Wolf and the writers, IMO, need to step it up with more action and excitement. More surprises are a must to keep the veiwers on the edge of their seats! Snazz it up with Bobby and Eames, even Ross! By no means am I down grading LOCI but, come on, cut it lose with drastic measures! Let's here what our forum thinks. SVU is beating up on us, let's stop it!

The only reason SVU beats our butts every week is that most people don't know quality when they see it. wink.gif

Sorry, I don't think that's it. Would you not like to see more drama and excitement that keeps you on the edge of your seat? Think of Endgame, it was wonderful!!!!!

it was, but no, I would not like more "drama and excitement," I want more of the same, Goren and Eames doing what they do best. When fans can say that about a show, it's in a very good place, IMO. Goren's brilliant arias are all the drama I need from this show. Would you have them replace the arias with violent car chases every week?

No, and I'm not here to start a brawl, I agree, Bobby is brillant but, I guess I haven't put my words across in the right way. I'm one of the biggest fans here of LOCI, maybe I compare to the best LOCI I've seen. I'm not here to make people mad, I just think it would boost the ratings ALOT!

I do think CI could use a little bit more in the action dept. When it started, it was about smart Goren solving cases, with a little action (chasing suspects, serving search warrents, etc) thrown in each episode. I dont get to watch every minute of an episode cause I always have a kid asking/wanting something, but I can't remember the last time Goren or Eames chased a suspect or even held there guns at someone (not counting Purgatory) suspect or not.
Don't get me wrong, I love the show, maybe its just that they did alot of episodes dealing w/ Goren and his family, but I think it could get a little more exciting.

Thanks DoodBOOMOM! I'm glad you agree. I honestly think it would possibly boost the ratings, and IMO, LOCI needs it. wink.gif

Hi Bubba here, I think we are doing okay in the ratings. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?

I agree with that Bubba, but we need to be better than the other drama shows, right, and LOCI can and will be.
FusseKat
To change the show's formula and structure this late in the game (Season 8) would be the 'jump the shark' moment for me. I was fine with more of the character driven stories of Eames and Goren the last couple of years - but there is a whole segment of the fandom that consider that their 'jump the shark' moment and they would really lose it if something like what you're suggesting actually occurred. And IMO, I don't think VDO Or KE would really want to work in the 'action drama' genre.

Maybe the other dramas you speak of are more action packed (I love The Closer and NCIS) but that's not why I watch LOCI. I watch LOCI for the characters and actors on the show and the quality of the acting. and nothing on network or cable TV can beat it - at least for me. But then I've never been one to follow the pack - I watch the other shows because they're on. I watch LOCI because I just can't not watch it. I feel like I've missed something special if I can't see LOCI, no other show on TV has that hold on me.

I think for now, it's enough of a shakeup to add Jeff Goldblum to the show - anything more and it just wouldn't be LOCI any more, it would be a knockoff of a half dozen other shows and would be seen as such - and the show would REALLY sink into oblivion. I sure don't want that to happen

How can we compare LOCI to anything other than other L&O shows? The 'brand' is completely unique. And of the three, it is the BEST - and I certainly don't want to see it going down the road SVU has. I lost interest in that show a long time ago.

WORD!

I don't think the majority of the fans want a lot of change. Even the change of music was a big deal.
I like the fact that LOCI is NOT like every other show on TV.

I like that I can ejoy my favorite detectives because they are in almost every scene. I like the brainy aspect of the crimes and how they are solved.

Like Ross told Falacci in one episode, these are not your common criminals, major case deals with a different class of criminals, and that is what i like.

Besides, who needs more excitement than watching Goren anyway, or whoever your favorite character is.

Yea, I think I'm with the majority here. I don't want to see them start blowing stuff up for ratings. If you want to see stuff blown up (and I admit, sometimes I do) then you've got other shows already doing it really really well. I think when you try to tack on something that works for another show, it nearly always looks like you did just that.

Now that said, I wouldn't mind if the show got a little more physical along the lines of where it was in earlier seasons... but no more than that. I'll take clever detectives solving complicated crimes over car chases from LOCI.

Then on Thursdays I'll pop over to Burn Notice to see what they're blowing up this week.... hehe

KRodgers, I hear what you are saying and I agree for the most part; however, IMO LOCI is more of a thinking show as opposed to an action show- - different shows for different folks. If they were all the same none would stand out. I've only watched Saving Grace of the new generation of cop shows and while I LOVE it, I don't want all my shows to be just like it, nor do I want all my shows to be like LOCI. See what I'm saying?

WHile I would love to see LOCI comeout of the darkness and back into the light, I don't want it's format to change. I would love the ratings to come up, but as a result of people who are seeking intellectual dialogue rather than action scenes. Know what I mean?

I understand but, it doesn't have to be compared to the new shows! Think back how good the Endgame, WeeSmall Hours, Untethered, etc. Those were epi's that kept you on the edge of your seat! Comeon, this isn't a war re: this topic, it's just to make LOCI better than the rest!

Okay,. before I reply, just let me say i also am a big SVU fan. i like that show a lot, but LOCI is what I mostly watch. They do have a good thing going for them, but I do not visit the SVU thread much...once or twice is about it, when the CI was off on strike. That can be a scary place sometimes, the forum there....I just lurked and got nervous..lol.

I think LOCI is more a thinking-persons cop show. I love it the way it is. I like the whole who-dunit aspects, how they tease us with little clues, how you catch little things yourself and want to say to the television...hey look, he just(yadayada, you add the clue here).....how the detectives figure things out and catch the perps. I like the new episodes showing a bit more of the character insight, I liked the old ones for the way they got into all the crimes scenes and dealt with the suspects. I think they are improving, growing, learning and changing the show. The characters are doing these things as well, which should keep the ball rolling and keep things fresh and with the addition of a new detective to the line-up, i think they are going in the right direction to keep viewers happy and interested. They ARE being filmed as actual NYC happenings...mostly...so how many blow up scenes would NYC survive if these were "real" crimes? I understand where you are coming from and what you are trying to say. I know you are a big fan, as much as the rest of us and want to keep our show up there in ratings and all. I don't need a lot of bang, boom...to keep me happy and keep me watching. I sometimes think there is too much of that out there already. JMO.

I have said that for years, about so many things...maybe I am not good with change, but my great grandmother said that a lot and I do tend to agree with it. Sometimes so called "improvements" just ruin the original aspects of the product.

yeah , and it'll boost the edge of our seat as well. I'm with you when it comes to action and excitment although i'm not thinking at car chases or brute violence . We have to remember that endgame it was about mind challenging and subtle suspense +drama . it was more of a thriller i guess ...which is cool but as i see other posters are more inclined to watch a lukewarm police series in wich the charcters should stay the same as at the beginning . No intense drama , no inner developpment . it's pity but this is the truth and i quite accept it ... mellow.gif

I'm not talking about brutal violence or anything with people's heads exploding, no exorcist type of show, but suspense and intensity as you said. I'd like to see it the best drama on TV. Of course no foul language as some shows have.

I always thought of CI as the thinking man's or woman's show.

But hey I would be happy to have VDO sit at the desk with a smile, some stubble for the whole hour. biggrin.gif

KRod, I understand your POV.....the epis that you mentioned were some of the best (especially Endgame). I like the way the show is presented, as to the reason(s) a crime is committed...which is also why I read as much true crime as I do. What makes a person tick? What makes this person cross the line and become a criminal?

Hey, I'm one of the biggest fans of VDO ever!!! I'm concerned about the other shows on NBC, etc. Like NCIS. I will admit, that's a good one. What concerns me is veiwers not watching LOCI! I will admit, I didn't watch Sunday night. Sorry!!
