I loved everything about this episode. To me, it was like a delicious dessert. I enjoyed every mouthful, and it left me wanting more! Not only did we get Bobby smiling (and Eames, too) we got Bobby laughing. The magic was more than I expected. I thought we'd get a glimpse, maybe VDO doing one little thing, instead, we were treated to lots of BobbyMagic. There was an undercurrent of angst, just enough for us to be reminded all is not resolved, but the way G/E gelled, I'm very encouraged. Love the tag team aria, although I still prefer the Goren aria. This is my favorite angst-free (mostly) episode of the past several seasons.
Well said, and I agree, I loved this one...maybe since it was so obvious that VDO was enjoying himself. It was just plain fun. It was a nice break from all the tension of the previous couple of episodes. Now, lets get back to business!

It's interesting VDO loved magic tricks when he was a kid. This epi sure fit his childhood backround. I thought, as I said before, he acted like a child in a candy, or toy store. I loved the laughter, and the excitement he seemed to have with this show. Good for Bobby!
Good points KRod.

My favorite Goren & Eames episode so far this season...loads of fun. Good to see Goren back in his old school groove

Am looking forward to reviewing notes on it with my best friend who does a lot of amateur magic (card tricks).
I either knew the secrets behind some of the tricks Goren messed with like the magician's cane that appears out of thin air, making the key to the holding cell appear in his hand (poor Officer Jones), the pan with the fake flowers, the guillotine (Harry Anderson does a variation of that illusion with his arm), the woman in half in the box (part of Dean Holiday's act), the mummy box illusion Christopher Lloyd was doing...or mostly could figure them out.
The code prevents me from revealing all of them but I'll bet VDO is a little less popular with the most amateur of magicians right now

The really good illusionist's secrets are still safe though
Seriously if you go to a magic store and ask how a trick/illusion is done, you are committing yourself to paying for it when you get the answer. I learned that from visiting a few magic shops with my playing card illusion obsessed friend (and that's how come I know how the cane from thin air illusion works

...you'd have to ask one of my other friends about how much he knows about 'throwing fireballs' and how he lightly burned his fingers a couple of times playing around with that illusion...a result of the same magic shop visit

). That is a part of the magician's code and I'm glad Goren acknowledged that.
And while the nurses here caught on to some things not being right behind Miles's big 'buried alive for 30 days' illusion, the point was the crowds wouldn't be hip to the inconsistencies AND IT IS AN ILLUSION that they sold pretty well. That's how David Blane or David Copperfield or Cris Angel or Lance Burton work. REALLY GOOD PRESENTATION & MISDIRECTION.
By the way I know of a real-life story of a magician who really screwed up a 'buried alive in a coffin' illusion escape...the variation was he had mixed and drying concrete poured over his buried 6 feet under coffin (instead of just buried under plain old dry dirt) and he made two miscalculations that literally killed him
1) the rate at which the concrete would dry and harden (faster than the magician figured)
2) the *weight* of six feet of wet concrete over a coffin (it's much heavier than dry dirt and hard to go through to escape plus there's less air in it than there is in dirt)
More later
The Vault
ITA! The Goren show is back in town, lolol...and Eames looked a bit more relaxed to.

I'd rather he choose a razor blade, imo. I prefer the clean-shaved smartly-suited Bobby, myself. Although, when he's lost the weight, the BTSOH and leather jacket are quite nice, too!
Oh yeah, he looked great!

anyone else get the text message that VDO had a guillotine as a child?
Nope, we don't do the texting thing...hubby has the phone at work all day. Maybe I need to get a cell phone of my own??

FusseKat, I love the new avatar. I read in an e-mail that the average man's penis is three times the length of his thumb. THUD.

Hmmmmmmmmmm................
