A big article in today's Wall Street Journal about Dick Wolf and his battles with NBC over the entire Law & Order franchise shocked me -- especially the part about the budget cut affecting the writing staffs. No more free Starbucks coffee!

How low can NBC go? I think we should send some pounds of coffee to the writers as a symbol of our affection, admiration and support.

Thanks for the article. I haven't read it before.

*eye roll* This seems to be a big pissing contest between two very rich men. Dick Wolf's not exactly the victim in all this. Sorry to see the writers suffer, but honestly? My office doesn't give me free Starbucks coffee either, they can drink from the crappy grimy coffee pot like the rest of America.

I keep coming back to read this because I just can't figure it out. Is this a serious suggestion? Or is it sarcasm? I'm perplexed. blink.gif

Methinks they are serious. Maybe if Dick Wolf forked over the "official" 18 million he makes off the shows to buy his staff better coffee we'd get some better episodes!

Oh Geez speaking of crappy coffee anyone been to shoney's lately. ewwwww. I don't get coffee from Starbucks that stuff is too expensive, I think they will survive. They can do like my husband does since his work place switched to the cheap crappy stuff, he brings his own. If on his salary he can afford it, I am sure the staff working on CI can too.

I think no more Starbucks is a good thing. It is so over-priced and always tastes burnt to me.

So by not providing free Starbuck's coffee to the writers, NBC is hurting not only the writers but Starbucks itself. This could cause a domino effect that will permanently damage the infrastructure of the coffee industry as we know it.

Oh the inhumanity!

Jeepers! Is this for real? The writers are pouting because they don't get "free" coffee ("...no such thing as a free lunch") anymore? I truly live in a different world...in MY world, we're all relieved to still have a job... blink.gif

Too funny! I live in a small town in Southern Oregon. It’s a low income, economically deprived area, yet we have coffee shacks on almost every corner! I don’t get it. Anyways, at work we have our own coffee pot and make our own every day (well, several times a day). I’m sorry the writers are the ones feeling the pinch, but if it was me I would survive. I’m sure they’ll be fine. I didn’t read the article, but did any of the writers actually complain about the Starbucks thing or was it just mentioned in passing?

Quaxo, I love your signature! The Pimp one is too funny! I wish I could figure out how to do cool stuff like that. I mean, if I really tried I probably could, but that would require time, effort, forethought, and some ability. I never seem to have any of that at the same time! blink.gif
