Wow, I can't believe this will be Logan's last eppy, I just hope "go out" means leave and not die sad.gif and that we'll all still be singing afterwards!
connierubiroses
I gotta agree with VDOVault and the person who said Noth was nice about leaving. If you read the articles, you'll notice it said it was a "Mutual" split and that Dick Wolf wished him all the best. Whereas when Annie Parisse left the Mothership to pursue her movie career, DW was a tad bitter and like "She chooses to leave, we get to kill her off..."

Also: Last Rites - it could also be a play on words. Last rites for the person with TB maybe...and the last time Logan reads someone their rights as a cop [last rites/rights].

Its definetly a very interesting title. I can definetly see, as others mentioned, Logan going out in a "blaze of glory". Logan would be given the last rites, as we saw in mothership episodes that he is a lapsed Catholic. But, there is also another character in there that is dying of TB in the cast list.

I had to look at the actual definition again (its been a LONG time since Catholic school) which is basically a sacrament that is a gift of the Holy Spirit that renews your faith in God which leads to forgiveness of sins. Could it be possible that it might be a metaphorical "last rites" which has Logan possibly at the end of career in the NYPD, and is trying to renew his faith in the justice system by catching someone who committed a crime awhile ago, and in the process, his career looks better from all the mistakes he's made as a police officer.

Just figured I'd add another possibility in there. I guess we'll just have to wait for the episode to see what happens

No way. He's leaving for California. He does NOT get to sing New York New York! Besides, if you ask any New Yorker will tell you, the only person allowed to sing that is the chairman. And he's dead. So now nobody is allowed to sing it. LOLOL

But I LOVE the second option. Now THAT's New York... LOL

But wouldn't it be great if all the old docs could come back with this being the last season,
Green, Carter, Weaver, Benton, Corday, Lewis, Pratt, Chen, Ross and Hathaway.

I saw a scene with Carter, so he must be making an appearance.

I may actually watch it this season. I got bored with it last season and stopped watching. But for Carter I'll give it a try. And yes, it would be nice if they all came back, but maybe they could do some flashbacks with Green.

Oooo my nerves are high now! I just want to know that Mikey will be okay!

Two Sinatra songs come to mind for Mikey: "That's Life" and "My Way". Followed by the "Kiss my azz" comment. Song for the closing credits: "California Here I Come."

For those worried about the Olympic messing with the USA Schedule: 3 CI epis from 1 - 4 CST, followed by SVU epis, then the *NEW* L/W LOCI epi, with a repeat at 11pm CST. Olympics will run from 6 am CST tomorrow (Sunday) until noon...........

Who really knows... it's not like the real reasons ever make it into the articles, but it could be any of the following:

1. Wants to pursue more movie roles after his Sex and the City Movie success.
2. Has played Logan long enough. It's time to do something else.
3. Girlfriend and new baby live in LA and wants to spend more time with them.
4. Possibly money.
5. Not really interesting enough for CI and either he or Dick Wolf finally realized it. Oops... did I say that out loud?

Take your pick.

I really feel a lot will be indicated by whether or not Logan dies or not, and even how he dies. Remember the death of that one ADA on Origional Recipe? I can't remember her name, but she died a horrible death. It turns out, her actress was not the writers'/producers' favorite person. If Logan dies a horrible death, number 5 is a rather large possibility, with some bad blood thrown in.

I had heard from somewhere, he and Wolf didn't get along. But, considering how closed-mouthed everyone on-set usually is about the actual goings-on, I must have dreamed it! biggrin.gif

Does anyone remember the episode when it's characters are similar to the show Saved by the Bell? I'm forgetful at the moment (long, late night at work) but the Albanian mob is behind the murders of the "Screech" character (maybe named Shooter) and his friend that sell bootleg movies. They then go after the rest involved but they catch the guy. He is one bad dude and he puts some kind of Albanian mob death curse on Logan at the very end; the same curse was put on everyone that died in the episode. I always remembered that and now that it's his time I wonder if that could be it. Who knows? He made lots of enemies during his 20 years on Law & Order. If they do kill him I hope it's a way that honors Logan/Noth.
I guess we'll see next Sunday.

Like the rest of you I'm a big fan of Vincent/Bobby. He's the man, amazing actor; liked him ever since Full Metal Jacket. That said, I think my wife's jealous of Eames because to me she is the total package; liked her from Stir of Echoes and OZ when she bared it all. lol.

Does anyone know if they're replacing Logan and if so, any mention of anyone particular?

This is my first post but I'm a longtime fan. Cheers

It seems to be moving that way yes... but then again I've been known to be wrong in these matters. My uneducated guess is that Logan's increasing frustration plus a possible "near death or injury" experience will cause him to reevaluate his life. I hope I'm right just because I like happy endings.

Also I believe we might be seeing that ADA from this weeks episode again next weekend.

I've been thinking the same thing about the ADA. I think Logan is going to lock horns with her again. Maybe she is the one who sent an innocent person to prison.

Yeah, I agree that Logan might get injured and along with his frustrations it will lead to him going. I think you're right about the ADA too.

On the subject of Logan's growing frustration with the job, I was thinking about his reaction to Wheeler's fiance. His reaction was kinda sad to watch. At first I wondered if he had a little torch for Wheeler, but I don't think that's it. I think it's hard on him not to have a long time, loyal partner like he had in Lenny. Good as Wheeler is a what she does, she and Logan aren't really bonded as partners.

He dosen't have what Goren has, a partner like Eames who almost understands him better than he does himself, who fills his gaps and has his back and straightens him out when he needs it and is just generally there for him. I think he's trying to have that with Wheeler... he likes and respects her. But she has her own life and doesn't really seem to be in on that old school "me and my partner against the world" attitude.

Maybe if he did have that, all these things that are eating at him would be easier for him to take.

Of course this is all from a purely character view... cuz Chris is leavin whatever Logan's life is like. smile.gif

Thanks. He's been a pretty good actor, I think that'll work out nice. Can't wait until November.
Does anyone else remember the episode I referred to in my first post (ever...lol)? Someone did have the episode name correct. The curse that the guy put on Logan has always stuck with me and I always thought Whoopi might return too. I also think Wheeler's boyfriend could be involved in some way too though. Lots of different options the writers can go with, regardless it will be good.
I'm so happy to realize my wife and I aren't the only CI addicts. We watch every re-run on Sundays on Bravo, every marathon, every re-run on USA, all the new ones; although after seeing some of the members on here I feel I'm lacking. biggrin.gif

I agree. Logan seemed upset when Wheeler went on her trip at the end of season 6 as well, and I don't think it was because he had a "thing" for her, but like you say, he just wants a solid partner again. I also think that seeing Wheeler with her fiance was another reminder for Logan that he doesn't have a special someone in his private life sad.gif I wish that could be resolved in his final epsisode but I doubt it.

Well, we had this discussion going in the thread about him leaving....most of us think he WILL be killed off, then given a grand Irish wake and full police funeral with the kilts, and the bagpipes, and the dress blues.....much better for Mike Logan than just getting his retirement gift and leaving, or getting on the elevator and waving goodbye to Wheeler, or walking off down the street....no riding off into the sunset for Mike Logan. He will go out in a blaze of glory, on the job, in the line of duty, with his boots on, all the cliches lined up in a row, spit-shined, polished and pretty.

Chris Noth has stated he's ready for "big screen" work only, after the sucess of SATC (which was mainly due to "Carrie and friends" and NOT Mr. Big, imo.....); he doesn't seem interested in TV work. After the bad blood over the way he "left" the mothership, and had his character sent to Staten Island to be simply "mentioned" (until the movie about him came out), I really think he has no interest in working for DW anymore......

So, he will most likely be killed off......

So Chris Noth isn't interested in tv work anymore. Well I can name several actors that thought the same thing and they went in the wind. The first I have to mention is David Caruso. He thought he was hot stuff and he didn't do any work for YEARS. Then he got his CSI:Miami break. I think he learned his lesson. lol Also Maclean Stephenson did the same thing in leaving MASH. Had one show that lasted 5 minutes.. I wish him nothing but good luck. I've liked him since his first episode on L&O.

I think CN is leaving for a number of reasons. He has mentioned in few interviews that came out before the SITC movie that his girlfriend and child live in LA and the show keeps him away from his family. Also I'm guessing that playing the same character for many years (even on and off) must get dull after a while. CN will be missed in the Law and Order world but for fans I think he will probably turn up again in other mediums whether it be plays, movies, or whatever. I read that he was working on a documentary for AMC about photojournalists during the Vietnam War. That sounds pretty interesting to me.

ITA Comparing Chris Noth to that idiot David Caruso is just insulting!

Chris is leaving LOCI for his family and to develop as an actor, not because he has grand ideas about himself. I heard about the documentary on photojournalists in the Vietnam War too, and it sounds like a fascinating project and not one that someone seeking fame and fortune would be involved with.

One other major difference between Noth and Caruso? Chris Noth can act!

And I respect him also. Did you know he was wearing an American flag on L&O years before 9-11? I'm sure it is difficult to have a family on the opposite coast you are working on. That's why CI L&O lost the head of detectives, Deakins. Again, I wish Chris every happiness. I'm sure he will be missed by a lot of people.

I'm not sure if I've posted in here before, but I am a fan of CI, it's a great show!! I especially love Logan/Wheeler. I really hope they don't kill Logan off. That may be wishful thinking though, hearing what you guys are saying--and what you say does make sense. It would be nice if Logan did find love, as this is one thing we haven't seen him do, but it would be hard to set that up and resolve it in just one episode. I do think his exit will be memorable though, whether bad or good!
