I told her we do/did see the new one. We neded up staying and watching it with her and her daughter. the daughter was working thu and missed it.

I will probably end up watching it at least 1x again during the week

Yeah. We left my niece and nephew's Chipmunk DVD in the player and I accidentally turned it on. That was it for watching anything on that TV. The 51" HD TV was held hostage all weekend. I had to go to my bedroom, fortunately that TV has HD so I could a least still see Mikey in all his handsome glory.
LuLuNY
Sadly, I don't have HD.sad.gif But I am sure it rocks watching Burn Notice. I can't afford it, a bit more pricey for me. But at least I have repeats and I can pause. that's about it.

Dang, Carla means business.

This show would be far better without the addition of the annoying and useless Carla . Also Tricia is a terrible actress and her voice is whiny . Why she is held in such regard is beyond my comprehension ? Terrible actress !
The dumbing down of Michael to prop her is pathetically obvious and I"m tired of it . Enough already.
Not interested watching a whole season of Michael being a lacky for Carla UGH !

Ease up a bit....maybe she's an "aquired taste" I know I hated it when the ATeam (yes, I'm a fan, and finding more and more similarities with this show) ended up working for Stockwell, but after a while, they made it work....sort of......

Seeing all of season 1, i was disappointed to find Schiff was only on for an epi or two, I know he wasn't the "handler" but whatever he was, I wish he had been more before being killed off

I tried being on the chat while watching this on (my other) Tive (first one was rolling with ST)...I didn't catch all of it (and hence, am looking very forward to rereviewing when the 1 am comes on), but what I did see I loved....and was it me, or were Sam's shirts more "sedate" this round????

Ease up ? Nope !
I got this series on DVD and loved it and why ? It was original and I lovec the interaction of the key players and liked the style in which it was presented.
Now the whole tone of the show has changed drastically and I've had Tricia/Carla thrown in my face by TPTB , media, and even the other actors as being so great yet I find her acting terrible and her character annoying so no I'm not going to ease up - I hate her on the show .
Her presence has change the dynamics way too much and Michael looks like a puppet and she is the puppet master pulling the strings . Nothing entertaining about that!

I must say, I'm not happy with this Carla person either. I also have to agree with the "dumbing down" of Mike AND Sam! WTF! For Sam and Fi to get highjacked and taken out at the beginning of the episode? Come on, that would never happen to the Sam and Fi we grew to know and love in season one.

I haven't been this excited about a television series starting since Silk Stalkings (back in the 90's) and The Shield (currently).

But I must say, so far, it hasn't lived up to the hipe. I'll keep watching because the only way this season can go is up, but it has a LONG way to go before it matches season one.

It did seem Sam was getting peekaboo camera time...central....then pull out....then in...then dissappears...and I (yeh, careful, captain obvious statement coming up) really like him in the middle of things....I'm new, and only took the speed reading version of season one (haven't seen that much of the same show in a short period of time since I was trying to catch up with the Sopranos, and I think they were up to Season 5 or 6!!!), so I'm no expert on the show...but....eh, as you say, if they're bad, which I'm not seeing they are....things can only get better....

One question....I haven't "seen" Veronica in a while...is Audrey still on the provebial "payroll" or are they just going to continue to use her name....I'd like to actually SEE what goes on between those two, maybe have her walk in when they're talking stratagy at the bar/coffee house....see waht sparks fly when he tries to get rid of her.....

Things that make you go.......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I must say, I'm still adjusting to actually having Carla as a physical presence on the show this season. Well, actually Carla and her 'people' that took out Sam and Fi. I was a little surprised by that, but man...this woman knows what she's doing.

I loved, loved, loved the counseling scene with Michael and his mother. I thought that was a dynamic scene, really interesting.

...that's all I've got for now, the drowsiness is taking over my ability to recall things tongue.gif

This episode was great!!! I'm going to watch it again before coming back to post more thoughts on it.

I think it's great that the Carla character is hated so much - it means Tricia is doing a great job! She's supposed to be bad*ss and a real foe for Michael, so props to her! And props to Matt Nix and the writers for coming up with another great counter for the gang to fight against - it must be hard to come up with good ones all the time.

Did you all see the great video interviews she did on the USA forum? How cool is it that JD emailed her ahead of time to welcome her to the show & tell her how excited they all were!

Everywhere online & in the press Tricia has been nothing but kind and grateful and so excited to work on the show - she's been promoting it every chance she gets, which is so great, since she brings a cool fanbase over to us. I've read about so many Battlestar fans talking about tuning in to watch BN, so that's fantastic for the ratings! yay!

She's more than just a pretty face, she's done some great shows (in addition to Battlestar) and is also an animal activist, doing this great poster campaign for PETA which you can read about at their site. And... her cat is named Mr. Nix....! how cool is that!?! wink.gif Tricia rocks.

Great cast, all of them! well, off to watch the epi again!

they are not being dumbed down. They are trying to show you they are up against people that are better than them. They are trying to show he is at this persons mercy. If they burned them they have better equipment and abilities just as good as michael. As you can see they faked out the raul guy but not carla and the people that burned him. I like carla so far it's not bad. Yes please EASE up. I like the way this season has started. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the music clips. I don't like when shows try to start being hip by adding music clips during certain segments. That gets to me.

I love this show!! Last nights episode was great! I really got a good giggle out of Mike and Fi and the endless yogurt! Seems Mikey is a little shocked that his charms no longer work on Fi!! I loved how he kept giving her the look during that scene!!

I also loved the counselor scenes! I think Mom got more than she bargained for! They both have issues with the other and I think they both realized that last night!!

Carla is ok. I think we are suppose to hate her! She is smart! It will be fun to watch the gang try to outsmart her!

I had a problem too Natasha and had to create a new account with a new user ID, but its still me Ladeedi. Sorta glad hated that sign in name.

I thought this epi was pretty funny when Mike was listening to Sam talk to Veronica hey dumpling... Can you handle it pumpkin?

Then when he tries to bribe Fi with yogurt! Also liked his cover ID for Nefsi the Tunesian counterfeiter

Good episode. I will have to get use to Carla. As someone mentioned above, they thought they were dumbing down Michael's character. I truly hope that's not the case. I am glad she is just recurring because I don't think I can handle her all the time.

And then Michael gives him a look, so Sam quickly says, "Gotta go." That part was hilarious.

Don't like Carla, but we're not supposed to like Carla. I look forward to how "the gang" plans on getting smarter than she and her cohorts are.

Last night's episode was very dissapointing in a lot of ways, Tricia cannot act, I'm sorry, she is just not believabl in her role. And Sam's character is realy starting to piss me off, don't getme wrong, I love Bruce Campbell's acting, ut as a former Navy SEAL Sam doesn't seem as highly trained as he should be. I understad how powerful Carla is but an IRA trained terrorist and a former NAVY Seal shouldn't be captured like children.

My first instinct is to totally give you that one, but you have to figure on some point

A they had to be trained by someone, and that someone, or someone's similar, probably trained the people they were caught by (who, btw, wasn't Trish/Carla, but her field associates...who btw look much tougher smile.gif )

B Someone's had to have been able to figure out Fi and Sam were working with Michael, and where I understand for camera purposes, Sam on the roof taking pics worked, if he were really that easy to spot, no wonder they found him....and Fi if she was in a "collector" car, as prev stated by someone else.....

Again, we're getting technical....agreed, I/we would have enjoyed more if they had worked up some sort of "we know they're there, but couldn't catch them" scenario, instead of actual "capture/release"....but I'm still ok with skipping the hiccups and enjoying the show....

Actually they weren't kidnapped. Sam's camera was taken. I forget what Fi was doing. Sam was actually kidnapped in the season finale of the first season.

I like the writing and enjoyed the first 2 epis of this season. I do not like Tricia Hefler either. I agree she doesn't appear to be that great of an actress but she only has a few lines and appearances on screen. I'm willing to give her a break. Also, she does have a nice body, a bit weird posture, but she's not that pretty in the face. Saw a pic of her from BG and she looked much better. Maybe it was because the focus was her body. That's my opinion. I'll kindly defer to the men in the audience since they will be much more expert at that topic.

Yes. Mikey doesn't understand "relationships". He thinks they can NOT be a couple and go on like before. He can turn emotions on and off like a light switch because he leaves his heart out of it. With Fi and his family it's different. Your head has very little authority over your heart. This will definitely be a good season for BN.

What a terrific episode! This show just keeps getting better and better.

Really don't like Sharon Gless, or the neurotic character she plays, so it was fun seeing Michael shut her up in the counseling session.

Carla. What an (good) and annoying baddie to hate.

Love Fi and Sam! What great supporting characters. Man, they've got a winner, here.

Well, you may not be very happy with this season going forward since the Mom will be appearing in more epis this season. Her relationship with Mike will be explored further, at least this is what Matt Nix has indicated.

Well, last night's episode was hit and miss for me. Throughout much of the show, something still felt "off" to me in terms of the tone/vibe. There were flashes of the classic BN brilliance along the way, of course, but there was always something that seemed out of synch on some level (be it a voiceover that felt off, or a jarring music selection, et. al.). The interesting thing is that in the last few minutes of the show something finally clicked into place for me, and by the end I felt like the show was getting back on track. I dunno if others felt this or not - it's kind of hard to explain... but I *can* tell you where it happened. It was that scene where Michael goes back to pick up the key card from the Tunisian counterfeiter. From the beginning of that scene right up until the end, I felt like the show was running on all cylinders (the voiceovers, the music, the story-line transitions, and those fantastically sexy sunglasses!!).

I continue to feel unhappy about Carla and the pall that her character has cast across the entire show, however (that's how it feels for me, at any rate - like a big dark cloud casting a shadow over what was previously a sunny day). It's an unhappy situation for Michael and he can't really get any leverage on her. It makes *me* unhappy as a viewer to see him in this position. I was grateful that the writers threw me a bone and at least let Michael pick up *some* bit of intel on Carla (that she speaks arabic with a Kurdish accent). I liked how he called Sam with that info and he said he knew it wasn't much but it's more than they had. It's a very unpleasant, sinister set of circumstances for Michael - and it is not turning into one of those delicious "love to loathe her" kind of things for me (in part because the actress playing Carla is just not coming across to me as a villain worthy of my begrudging respect). My hope is that she won't be in the upcoming episode, quite frankly.

All of Michael's scenes with Madeline were outstanding, but that therapy session was just superb. I loved that moment where they're leaving the therapist's office, when Michael responds to his mom's unhappiness over how things went in the session by saying, "Really? I didn't think it was so bad." He had just a hint of pleasant surprise in his voice, like he found out something he hadn't expected about both himself and his mom. It's a great scene. smile.gif

Great bit of analysis, Vestokes! Yeah, I think you've hit the nail on the head with respect to Michael and his emotional connectedness (or disconnectedness, as it were). I'm having a lot of fun watching Michael's character try to forge stronger emotional bonds with his loved ones. And I like how the writers are having him open himself up to them (like in that last scene with his mom, where he offers to take the pottery class with her, lol). Man, that was *such* a cool scene, wasn't it? I am really digging this character development on Madeline. smile.gif

I agree with everything you said I enjoyed the first 2 epis but it felt as if there were 2 people directing the show. The first half felt unfamiliar; as if you were in your house but everything had been moved around and is out of place. I don't know when it changed but I do recall toward the end it was back on track.

Also, you are spot-on about the Carla character. She just isn't someone you WANT to hate. She just is NOT villain material. I think we will get our wish for the character to go away since I recall reading she's working on the pilot of another show. I think Mike will eventually hand her head back to her as he did with Bly. Now he was a much better villain. Still it felt good to see Mike send him packing.

Yeah the scene after the counseling session was priceless. Mike was practically giddy. I think he finally felt in control. It was funny when he came to her house prepared to go to the next session. That scene where she admits that she knew he wanted her approval for what he did for the family was really great. I think the dynamics between the two actors are fantastic.

I am really digging this character development on Madeline. smile.gif

And I liked that Madeline opened up to Michael, too, and explained why she didn't say anything about his black eye. Sure, she didn't say that in front of the counselor, but she knew what was going on, and she was trying (in her own way) to "keep peace" in the family.

Yeah. I forgot about the pottery class thing. That was sweet and so NOT what he would like to do with ANYONE. LOL!!!

Yeah. That was a tear jerker moment. I could watch that scene over and over again. Similar to the scene when Madeline came to his loft for the first time. I get choked up every time I see that one: "I left you? Mom?" LOVED IT!!!

Well, you may not be very happy with this season going forward since the Mom will be appearing in more epis this season. Her relationship with Mike will be explored further, at least this is what Matt Nix has indicated.

That may be true, but I still don't like her. Never did. Never watched the show she was on with Tyne Daly. Always found her annoying.

But, that's okay because that's just the character she plays. Just reinforces what I think about her. Obviously, a writer on the show has a mother from which he or she can draw inspiration for the character. How sad. However, I'm willling to look past it because as another site pointed out, his interaction with his neurotic mother is designed to show his "tender" side. Okay. Too bad they couldn't think of a less annoying way with a less annoying actor to show that. Fortunately, as a supporting character, her screen time will be limited. But the show is so good, that I'm willing to forgive this little wart on it.

They're introducing Cybill Shephard to the cast on Psych as Sean's mother. Never liked her either. But at least, I never thought she was annoying.

As cute as the concept was....pottery class....these two????? They'll end up throwing the vases at (ok, in the general direction of) each other!!!!!!

Now if you want to get them into a (non-sexually charged) pillow fight...or maybe a room with those padded bat things (think the credits to the Jeffersons -- if any of you can go back that far)....that might work! laugh.gif
