Hehe... Since I just graduated from my middle school days, I have no idea who Adam Ant is, but I'll take your word for it.

I'm 37 - so this was a looooong time ago, AlmostThere - Adam Ant was this amazingly hot punk rocker (would you Gen X'ers agree with me in that assessment? he's punk rock/new age, right?) I think you'll agree with me about Adam Ant once you see these:

ETA: forgive me for the off-topic post - I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to introduce AlmostThere to Adam Ant! biggrin.gif

Daaaaang... I'm so jealous, because the 80's did have the best looking men ever (ex. Matt Dillon!) Know what I get? Zac Efron, who may in fact be a woman. I do get JD, though, but he's not really mainstream...
LuLuNY
the 80s were my era. I liked adam ant only from a few mtv videos, I wouldn't call it punk rock. more early glam. Loved Duran Duran but went Metal shortly after. Loved the band A-Ha and U2. and a few that are still near and dear to my heart but they are a bit older and can still kick some tail.

I assume some of the funkier clothes probably are Jeffrey's own. the black outfits more than likely and the blue and white pinstriped shirt as well as the t shirts.

I wish the 80's was my era. Stevie Ray Vaughan was from the 80's era.

But yeah Jeff makes the funky clothes on the show look really cool. Because I know if I worse some of the stuff he did then I'd be laughed at and called a few choice names

You’re hilarious, AlmostThere - “Zac Efron, who may in fact be a woman.” LOL! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen that Zac Efron guy and thought, uh - this guy really looks like he’s devoted the better part of his day at a salon and day spa, just so he can preen before the paparazzi. His hairdo is so perfectly, wackily, asymmetrically coiffed. Either the guy has a hairstylist on call 24 hours a day, or he’s got a live-in stylist. laugh.gif

Yeah, I prefer the looks of JD - rugged good looks, but still a bit boyishly handsome. I think he’s getting better looking as he gets older.

[edited for clarity]
PhilippaConnors
Duran Duran rocked, LuLu! I liked all the groups you mentioned, actually.

I'll bet you're right about JD wearing some of those more casual clothes in BN (jeans, tees). I know I’ve seen photos of GA wearing her amazing belt purse thingys off the set (at premieres and events and such). I’ve also seen her wearing those really cool bracelets in “real life” (the leather/suede bracelets with the little silver charms hooked to them). She is so stylish!

[BTW - csi24, I think Stevie Ray Vaughn was so talented - I remember when he was killed in that awful helicopter crash. It was very shocking and such a tragedy. sad.gif ]

Okay gotta throw in my 2 cents here being an 80's girl. I was a Duranie in the 80's, 90's and I still am today. I've seen Duran 9 times in concert and have met all of them. And don't even get me started on Adam Ant!!! OMG I adored that man.

Wow, that was fun taking a trip down memory lane. laugh.gif

I saw Adam Ant in concert at a small venue. (Remember Memorial Hall, mjwannabe?) In fact INXS was the opening act. They were okay, but...

Good grief. Do you guys actually WANT to admit you liked these singers? You don't still like them do you? LOL!!!!

BTW, I'm willing to bet JD got those outfits from a Miami clothing store catering to the newly arrived immigrants. They do somehow get stuck in these previous decades. He'll be sporting a members only jacket soon.

OMG!!!! LOL!!! I recall listening to these singers on MTV. Hey youngsters, MTV used to play music. The M actually stands for Music. LOL!!!!! I never purchased the albums. I don't recall many 80's groups that did much for me. I did love Journey, Chicago, and the person that saved the 80's from complete mediocrity, Michael Jackson.

HEY? what is wrong to owning up to listening to the 80s bands even now. Only Now, I don't bother unless I really want to see them again. Now, my only infatuated crush is on well, Jeffrey Donovan.smile.gif

I like all the groups mentioned too, and I don't care who knows it....we actually have 2 competing radio stations up here, and I listen to both. One makes fun of the other to the point of playing an "oldies" (ok, usually 70's and back, but...) song, and having a voice come on, casting aspersions! I get so po'd at that, I usually change it....right to the station their essentially making fun of!!!!

As far as MJ (and no, not you Wannabe smile.gif ), I used to like him alot, but with all the "court stuff" (put simply) I just don't want anything to do with him.....occasionally I'll listen to his "Thriller" and older stuff if it comes on the radio (trying to consider it the "innocent years", but nothing past that. I can't say he's guilty of what he was accused of, but if i don't mis-remember, he did admit to sleeping (in the literal sense) with the boys alone in his bedroom, and I think in the same bed.... now, coming from a chick (myself, obviously) I'm not as familiar with the "mores" of male sleepover parties, but I could understand if your some how related, or maybe even best/good friends with AGES IN THE SAME BALLPARK....but a grown man sleeping (even only in the literal sense) with a child, not his own, is it "wrong", maybe not.....but it sure isn't right!

Yeah, how about that! And they were really nutty videos, too - like, Billy Idol’s White Wedding... and that crazy “Poison Arrow” video by ABC. [Yes, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and watch these on youtube, lol.] Actually, having watched these? I’m prone to think the odd and irreverent sense of humor evident on BN may be related to all of us Gen X’ers having watched this zany stuff in our formative years, lol. I can guarantee you that Matt Nix, JD, GA all remember this stuff very well, as every last one of us was glued to MTV. Ah, the glory days of MTV...Michael Jackson in Thriller, Madonna in Like a Virgin garb dancing in the gondola in Venice...good times, good times. biggrin.gif

The only 80's band I listen to is U2, because Bono rocks my world. I do love classic rock, though. My ipod is decked out with the Beatles and The Who. And show tunes. Can't forget them. Amen about music, today. It's such total crap. I don't understand it...

As far as Zac goes, any man who wears capris is not a true man. I'm sorry.

I'm incredibly jealous of all of the concerts and things you guys have gone to. I'm poor, deprived child, so I don't get to do stuff like that.

I think Matt Nix has to throw in an eppie of having Michael Westen do Karaoke. Undercover of course. Come on. It would be hysterical to try and hear Jeffrey sing. Not sure if he can. But would make for a good laugh at his expense anyway. Ok, that's mean, but hey, Fi and Sam can do back up singers. A little Fleetwood Mac. "Mikey singing "You can go your own way" to Fi and Sam ripping a Lindsey Buckingham riff on guitar.

I don't know where I was when U2 was so big. I don't recall a single song of theirs. I think I went through my Jazz phase. I would only listen to "classical" jazz (non-fusion). Missed out on a lot of things in the music world.

Ooooh - I forgot about Boy George! I loved the Culture Club. I had a friend who actually went as Boy George one Halloween - she even tracked down one of those painter’s smock shirts he always wore in his videos, lol!

I’m pretty sure that JD brought his own break dancing moves to TE, lol! I LOVED that episode (“Boston”). That scene when Branca told him what had happened to her regarding the discrepancies in the Catholic dogma vs. reality, Creegan covered his ears and said something to the effect of, “don’t wanna know!” ...And then when she revealed that the priest ushered her into the back to give her some danish because she’d fainted from having fasted before communion, he said something like, “Wowwwww - yeah, they *are* bullies, Susan.” [Creegan performs a sommersault] LOL! JD *rocked* in TE - I’m so sorry it didn’t make it, sigh.

Yes ma'am I did, just 3 years ago when all 5 reunited. There were all nice guys I have to say. Duran's lead singer fell on me trying to stage dive during a show. Hi to all.

BN rookie here. I wouldn't watch the show at first being a MAJOR John le Carre and Graham Greene fan from way back. I admit, also, as a former denizen of the outer fringes of le Carre's "Secret World", I was harboring some kind of hateful grudge against the show. My wife, the baseball witch, Dogwomanyan got me to watch it on the marathons and we were hooked. Very cool, very sexy and both Michael and Fiona have real chemistry with the rest of the ensemble equally sterling.

Of course, for me Michael's new handler Carla is an homage to le Carre's arch-nemesis, Karla, George Smiley's eternal foe and based on East German Intelligence head Markus Wolf. I liked the clue about Kurdish Arabic and found their info on the Muslim world to track my experiences in the region. Her character is still undeveloped but I would suggest to the producers that they talk to someone with real experience in the field and who's also blonde, like this nice lady here:

That would be New Mexico's newest ex-spook, Valerie Plame-Wilson, who I met a few months back at her book signing in Albuquerque.

I met her husband, Ambassador Joe Wilson, pictured here:

I found out he was from Santa Barbara, so as a native-born Venturan, I asked the one question I'm sure every secret agent fan and foreign policy wonk wants to know.

"What are Joe Wilson's Favorite surf breaks in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties?"

It seems we both agreed Gaviota had a good break but Rincon point was our personal favorite.

I also had another take on Anwar's Fiona character. She reminded me of this film and another fearless Irish girl named Fiona:

The Secret of Roan Inish.

Now I wonder if she has a little brother named Wee Jamie?

I just rewatched epi 2 and was curious as to what Maddie meant when she responded to Mike's questioning why she chose the Psychiatrist.  Some of you who are more observant may have already got this. I just figured it out and  think this clip I made explains it.

Thanks for the clip, Vestokes! I'm so glad that you're archiving these in the episode discussion threads for posterity's sake. Fiona with the blackhead extractor, LOL!! Mostly what I loved is how the first glimpse you see of Barry is basically the cucumber slices, the facial masque, and his little goatee. laugh.gif I heart Barry so much. Paul Tei, if you're reading this, thank you for creating the wonderfulness that is Barry!

Such great actors on this show... wub.gif
