season 2 is not out yet and this guy is already bashing the series!

"And now it has happened to Burn Notice, a well-cast, reasonably entertaining adventure hour that has been revamped and weakened for its second season. "

We can all say this guy is Stupid. mad.gif

This just shows the personal preference of episodic case of the week vs the over arching story. This guy happens to like the former much better, some likes the latter. Fortunately BN has the good balance of both.

In one review the second season is the best thing since sliced bread, in another--it seems to have cut its own throat. Gee I guess I'll just have to watch it and decide for myself! Of course having to sit through hours of JD, GA and BC is going to be tough but I'm willing to give it a try. Who's with me?

Definitely! It's absurd for this reviewer to be presumptive on the entire season based on two episodes.

Entertainment Weekly also wasn't on board with the changes that have been made for season 2, but I think their reviewer focused on the mother/son relationship/therapy.

I have to admit that I've been a bit concerned when I read about the additions to the cast, and the fleshing out of Michael and Madeline's relationship. However, I'm keeping an open mind. And, as long as BC is still there doing the Sam thing, I'll be watching.

Me to. I'll be there no matter what any critic says.

As far as additions to the cast like Tricia Helfer I think the show will be fine. She's great as Six on Battlestar Galactica. And isn't that what second seasons are about, getting to know what makes your favorite characters tick.

Most of what I like, reviewers dislike. So I usually follow this rule of thumb - if the critics dislike a certain movie, I make sure to go see it because I'll probably like it. If a reviewer finds good things about Burn Notice, good for them. If they don't, they can kiss my .... well, you get the idea. tongue.gif

Just one man's opinion. BN has a nice following and will continue to do so. I think with longevity. Most shows will hit home with viewers, some will not. But I think viewers will stick with BN because they like the characters/actors. and the theme of the show(ex-spy) is original and fresh. BN is like visiting a good friend.

This review is based on 2 episodes. In the first epis of season one, there were so many people that didn't like Fi. Amazing how that turned around. I hate reviewers that do a cursory look at something then make blanket statements as if they have more insight than they do. That's sloppy journalism, which is pretty much becoming the general rule with printed media.

You have no agurement from me there.

hmmmph....

Well, what I know is that the more a critic doesn't like something, the more I tend to love it!! Sometimes I think people think that the second season is suppose to be exactly like the first, only the faces and the names have changed.

with the possible exception of the mother/son scenes, which are a bit too exaggerated.

I happen to like the mother/son scenes. I can't wait to see where Burn Notice takes them this season. They seemed to finally reach a silent connection last season in Dead Drop when momma busted into the loft and again when Michael made her leave town with Nate.

I'll be interested to see if Robert Bianco changes his tune by season end!

I just watched that scene when Mom kicks the door to MW's loft....I love the Mom & son "thing". At one point, I think she should of slapped him (that's the Mom in me talking)! dry.gif

oooh...maybe one day she will put him in a chair and give him the what for!!! That could be fun!!!

Me! Me! Me! On another note, while everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'd love to see a critic write, produce or even act while handling the time constraints, budgets, studios heads, stunts, guest stars, etc., before they venture another less than stellar review on the final product of a show. Those who can, do. Those who can't, write critiques. IMHO.

I just read this critic's assessment of BN, and I don't really understand why he says some of the things he does. Usually I can see someone's point, even if I don't agree, but this critic is way off base about BN. And he is equally off base about Psych and Monk. I love both of those shows, and I think they both continue to be as good as they ever were, contrary to what Bianco says.

I know Monk's season opener is tomorrow, but it's season closer did really well in the ratings department, if I'm not mistaken. Some people just like to complain. If things weren't changing he'd probably say it was getting stale.

I'd forgotten that Psych and Monk are starting their new season tomorrow. YEA!!!! Love these too. I hope I can get home in time to see the 7:00 pm PT showing of BN. I will probably have to start watching the TIVOed version until I catch up.
