So, maybe a flash version and a regular version. (Because I like some of the flash stuff, but not the drop down menus.)
Either two versions of the site, or one version that is at least more accesible than it currently is for people with disabilities as well as the fans out there who have older computers or are still stuck on slower connections. They may be in the minority, but they do still exist. And then there are people like me who are just annoyed by it.
I understand that a lot of the games require flash in order to work, and I'm not saying it should all be done away with. *BUT*, I think that we could do without the moving menus, the kind that drop down if you even think of going near them with your cursor, or the ones that slide out, like to the side? I hate having to catch my menus when I do actually want to get to something in one of those menus. The ones that slide out horizontally don't stay still once you open them, everytime you move your cursor, the menu moves too, which I hate, because sometimes it malfunctions and when I move the cursor to get to where I want to go, the menu closes up again before I can catch what I want to click on. A whole lot of this flash is unnecessary, makes navigation more difficult for a lot of people, and seems to malfuntion a whole lot. I think that one site that is more accessible with less flash on it would just be better, easier to get to run smoothly, and would allow more visitors who will then be exposed to the ads that are placed on the site and would encourage and help hold interest in the shows, which is what the site is supposed to do, right? Even people who (like me) can see and hear normally and who have fast enough computers and connections will often avoid going to the site because it's such a hassle and so annoying. I don't like the automatic drop down menus, I want them to stay out of the way unless I click on them. I don't like chasing menus that slide around sideways every time I move my mouse. I don't like it when I go to a site and the video starts playing automatically because most of the time, if I want to see the video, I have to start it over again because it started playing before the site was finished loading and I can't scroll down to see it right away, and if I didn't come to the site to see the videos, and I forget that my son used my computer last so that the speakers are on and turned all the way up, I usually end up jumping out of my skin because the noise startled me. I would be happy if these three things were fixed or removed, and I know a few visually impaired Monk fans who would really appreciate it if there was a way they could copy and paste all of the text from the site into their adaptive software so that they could hear excerpts from the books too. I wouldn't want to get rid of the flash that actually is needed and actually does serve a purpose other than to annoy, the stuff in the games. A site with less flash would load faster, and be less likely to have malfunctions like drop down menus that get stuck.
