WWE is discussing running LIVE edition's of Smackdown on weekends where there is a PPV, once they make the move to MYNETWORK TV. Basically on the weekends where there is a PPV scheduled, Smackdown would run live on Friday, then the PPV on Sunday and then Monday Night Raw as usual.

These monthly live Smackdown events are not 100% confirmed, but the company has apparently signed off on the idea. There will be a live edition of Smackdown on April 3rd in Houston Texas, as part of the WrestleMania weekend.

The general idea behind broadcasting live is to increase the "aura" of Smackdown with the move to MYNETWORK TV. This is also the reason for the draft moves of both HHH and Jim Ross.

I like the idea to.I think it adds some more Importance to SmackDown!,instead of being the ''B'' Show it could possibly become as equal to RAW or even the ''A'' Brand in alot of peoples opinions.I mentioned this a few months back that due to the move to MYNETWORK TV that SD! would become just as equal and important as RAW,Looks like its happening.

Running a weekly wrestling show on a Friday is tough, because that's the start of the weekend and a lot of people go out. Second, since MyNetwork is not part of the NBC Universal portfolio of properties, they cannot explicitly mention the channel during RAW. Instead, they can say something like "check your local listings" or buy time for every market and insert the ad locally, which is pretty expensive.

I hope this new network works out for them, but truth be told, broadcast networks are rapidly losing their audience to cable and broadband networks.
