Ok, so forgive me if this has come up before but i personally think that a Psych/Monk crossover would be awesome. I mean there is so much to work with there. Monk's tension over Sean's outgoing, rule-breaking personality. Gus and and Natalie bonding over working with such eccentric charaters. Stottelmeyer and Lassiter butting heads over territory. I can Also see Discher drolling over Jules. You get my point. I think it would rock! Any thoughts or perhaps news on this front?

Tony Shalhoub was asked this question in the last chat USA hosted, he passed on the question. Don't know if that mean he didn't like the show or didn't care for it, we don't know. You can watch the chat

I would actually be a bit intrigued by this idea and a lot of other people have suggested it as well, but Tony seemed agitated by the question in the Live chat. I wouldn't say he doesn't like the Psych show personally. He may, but he may also just not like the idea of crossovers or doesn't think this particular one is viable. He didn't say in the chat, just passed on the question, but he was noticeably annoyed. Psych seems to more target a younger demographic. I wouldn't lose any sleep if it never happened, but I'd watch it if it did.

I had to vote no on this probably just because I personally don't like Psych. I have tried so hard to like it but for whatever reason it just doesn't work for me. Actually I don't know if there is any show I would want to see Monk crossed over with.

Can they meet on Stubbings old love boat and crash on that island from Lost - maybe with the Harlem Globe Trotters and Counting Crows as a musical guest?
I bet we could go two hours that way or more. Plus, could you see the globetrotters doing a routine where they all make messes and then clean them at the last second before Monk can reach them? Classic!

I don't think anyone at USA is hot for a Monk/Psych crossover. I remember in an interview the guy who plays Spencer sarcastically said that they could do a Psych/WWF crossover as well. And as Tony infamously went to the next question when that was brought up.

I have to vot "NO, NO, NO." All the dynamics you mention would be fun to watch but where would there be time for a mystery? I'm not a fan of PSYCH, it's just too nonsensical for me.

I also voted no. Please don't think we're bashing Psych, cause we're not. But in order for a crossover to be appealing, you really have to be equally fond of both shows. While I don't hate Psych, I am totally bonkers for Monk.

Now there is a challenge for all you fanfic writers - write a Psych/Monk crossover, keep the characters true to their roles, include a mystery and post it here---then we can all vote on whether it was a good cross, OK cross, So-so cross or a No-go.
Hey, it might even make an interesting thread....

I think there are already some Monk/Psych crossovers on fanfiction.net. You have to look under both shows, since you can only place them in one category.
I was thinking about trying a Monk/Remington Steele crossover.

I'm from back in the day. My all time favorite detective is Columbo and the dynamics of a crossover there with Monk would just be phenomenal. If only it were 10 or 15 years ago and Peter Falk still had it in him, that episode would be priceless.

I had to vote no, also, and also because I just cannot get into Psyche. I watched over half the first season, and just hated it. For one thing, there were so many times that Shawn did Monk quotes, and it seemed to me he was being reeeeeeeeally sarcastic about it. Like, lookee, here, folks, he says this alot and it's stupid. I like most of the other characters on Psyche, but I just feel that Monk and Psyche people don't mesh well, and the writers to me seem to be "at odds". Monk is a more quiet, thought-provoking show, where I feel Psyche is like watching a room full of my ADHD grandson clones. JMHO.

I love Columbo too. I suggested a crossover on another thread. I wanted Peter Falk to play Monk`dad. When Monk first started I almost didn`t watch it, I never thought anyone could live up to Columbo. Glad I watched and got hooked. It was just what I needed during one of the saddest times of my life. My mom had passed away earlier that year.

Sorry to hear about your mother. I'm sure that made it a rough year to get through.
Columbo is the end all, beat all of TV detective shows for me. Perhaps if someone can rip a hole in the time/space continuum, it could happen. lol. Actually, according to IMDb, he's 81 but still active:
- American Cowslip (2008) (post-production) .... Father Randolph
- Next (2007) .... Irv
- Three Days to Vegas (2007) .... Gus 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald
- The Thing About My Folks (2005) .... Sam Kleinman
- Checking Out (2005) .... Morris Applebaum
- When Angels Come to Town (2004) (TV) .... Max
- Shark Tale (2004) (voice) .... Don Feinberg
Supposedly, he lives in Beverly Hills. Tony needs to give him a call. That episode would be a shoe-in for an emmy.

I'll have to think about this. The one thing that comes to mind is the X-Files and Millennium. Millennium wasn't a spinoff from the X-Files, it was a separate show created by the same guy, but the characters on both shows converged for an episode. Does that count?

Magnum and Murder, She Wrote did a crossover. It was a two-parter -- half shown on in each show's time slot. It's murder in syndication. You only get to see half the plot.

I think they want to keep the Monkiverse and the Psychiverse seperate -iverses...
I think that 'they' are against the crossover idea because of the negative comparison to Monk that Psych got. I recall that I called Gus "Sharona" for awhile, and that Lassiter was "Dishermeyer".

It seems to me that one of the networks did a stunt night where every show had guest stars from the others. It was like three big named shows - but they werent ones I watched so I blew them off.
Oh, and Friends and Mad About You had the Pheobe/Ursela cross over and I know I recall Paul and Jamie talking to Pheobe at the coffee shop and thinking she was Ursela.

Yes, you're right -- it was Diagnosis Murder and Matlock. Matlock was Dr. Sloan's lawyer, and they didn't like each other because Matlock had lost money investing in a company that Dr. Sloan had recommended.
