hey guys,
totally missed the bigfoot reference. clue me in? please? thanks in advance.

Okay, here's the Cliff's Notes version: In an early episode, while Goren was interrogating a man who allegedly assaulted petite women, Goren antagonized the guy by belittling his "manhood." Goren threw his foot up onto the table in the interrogation room and said something like, "Hey, I'm a size thirteen. What are you? An eight?" (referring to the old wive's tale that foot size is indicative of well, you know...that size)

I'm guessing that Eames used "Big Foot" as Goren's screen name when she responded to "towel guy's" Craig's list ad on Goren's behalf.

Yes! Didn't that remind you of one of Eames' lines in an old episode, "You can go do your little dance in hell now"...? biggrin.gif

Well, now that you mention it... Yeah, it does... I love that line!

lol! I'm not sure why I found that so amusing Jryan but I did! But as I said before something is wrong with the Canadian station, they are under the impression that we are going to watch "Vanishing Act" come Thursday.

Anyways in Answer to your question the west coast will be half way through right now, and anyone without Cable will of course not of seen it yet.

This episode sounds really good, I can't wait to see it!

No, the West coast has not seen it yet. It is 7:50 right now, we won't watch it until 9:00 PST. I know, I know, another 70 minutes to wait.

Senseless was the last one shown before the writer's strike. My understanding is that they had filmed Please Note and it was supposed to be the first one shown when they came back after the holidays. But the writer's strike happened and they didn't want to just show one episode and have nothing more, so they held this one.

As for the continuity--I don't think I'll be too bothered by it. There is the beard thing and we'll see how the weather looks as compared to Purgatory and Betrayed. But by the end of Betrayed I felt G/E were back in sync, at least on the job. So it won't bother me if there are no references to any rift in tonight's episode. I wouldn't even be surprised not to hear any more about it for the next few episodes. But then it sounds like they have more angst planned for the last G/E episode, so we'll see.

And Goddess--I just watched Pride and Prejudice last night and laughed at the "Goddess Divine" comment. laugh.gif Its been SO long since I've read the book, I think I need to read it again.

Love the way Keira Knightley says it.....those British accents! I fell in love with the comment after I watched the movie. And Colin Firth....yummy yummy, but VDO is always 1st.
It's always a great book to read. Just re-read Jane Eyre again after Lenore and I keep talking about VDO playing Rochester. ::THUD::

QUOTE (pfchristine @ Jul 6 2008, 06:29 PM) *
I know... I like Fin and Munch much better too.... especially Munch.

My theory about playing SVU before the new eppys is that they are trying to grab on-the-fence viewers. They know CI fans are going to know when it's on and tune in. But if they play SVU as a lead in, there is a good chance they might stick around for a new CI. Then hopefully the SVU and CI people will stay and build an audience for the new show In Plain Sight.

Strategic stacking.

Big Munch fan too.....HLOTS sets are hard to find in my neck of the woods; how many more shows can he cross over onto?

Hot Damn..... great episode!!! Classic Goren & Eames teamwork... and he looked sooo good. I'm just so used to him on the edge of falling apart... it was great to see him on his "A" game again.

Spoiler:
And that whole thing with Eames setting him up the the closeted Craigs-lister. To funny!

And it was grits...

I thought it was a good episode too, but not great.
Spoiler:
The ending was a little lame. When he went to grab the gun, but didn't get it, I knew she wasn't going to shoot Bobby because she would of then. I guess he must of known too because he seemed to settle a little bit, but it took the suspense out of it. I don't think he slammed her up against the wall that hard, but I think the actress made it look that way because she was so shocked. She totally thought he was coming in for a hug.

Overall, I liked the straight police work and I liked that Bobby was on his game.

Oh, don't worry. I came to the site on purpose to read comments of people who had already watched the episode.
It makes the wait shorter.
Now I am really psyched to watch "Bigfoot"
By the way, I like that better than Bullwinkle!

I used to have satellite, then I would have watched it at the same time as the East Coast. We changed to FIOS recently, so I am getting used to the new schedule.

Well I'm trying to work on not complaining so much about not seeing it till Thursday for a couple of reasons:
1)At least I get to see it, when the show moved to USAnetwork I had a great fear I wouldn't get to see it at all
2)All the Other Canadian's wait to see it! So why should I complain about it?
3)At least I don't have to wait for NBC to show it, some people have to wait 2 weeks!
4)In the UK they haven't seen all (possibly Any i'm not sure) of season 6, so I'm really not that hard done by.

But I'm an impatient person who likes complaining sadly so It's not going so well for me on the whole, not mentioning thing....

All we need is for Quaxo to come up with a new pic with "Bigfoot" for in his or her sig......loved the "moose and squirrel" one done after "Betrayed".

I enjoyed this episode, it was a good show, and I'll watch it again tonight before I give my feedback. Goren & Eames worked better than last ep, especially toward the end. But OMG, the last several minutes had me biting my nails! And Bobby is somewhat almost back to his old self, but you could see the Mommy-angst in his face, voice and actions in the last scene.
Polishreg
I just loved this episode-it was almost like an old Goren/Eames episode-nice to see that once in awhile-obviously was filmed in the cold weather sometime-thought Jessica Walters played a great role-I loved the ending, I really worried about how it was going to end-
And Eames making up Bigfoot for Goren to lure the guy-that was so great-
And yes nice to see Vincent clean shaven sometimes, but hair was too short-need more curls-

So , so , here's the old goren go and of course eames . I read your comments so far and i'm not that curious to see the epi as i was 3 weeks ago when ''purgatory'' aired , i guess i'm more for the angsty goren tongue.gif . it's nice for you to have a good episode although it's wonderful when it's a great one and i missed it and i try to put the pieces of the puzzle from your comments to get an impression about all this. Anyway , what's the name of the following epi. with goren /eames team?

Not a bad episode at all, but I admired the BigFoot user name of Goren's

I liked this episode, it's not the "greatest ever" but it was a nice change of pace. I think Alex got a little too much enjoyment out of pimping Goren out on craigslist. I might have to think of a banner or two...

Man, I really felt sorry for Marla... she definitely can get some sympathy if her mother in law takes the stand! I don't think Bobby was too forceful, he's dealing with a lot of adrenaline being held at gunpoint, so it would be understandable that he'd be a bit jumpy.

I enjoyed the episode. Goren was awake, clear-eyed, moving well, very with-it. A change from this season for sure. If that episode was supposed to follow Untethered, I can see why they waited to air it.

Did anyone notice he did wear that gray suit with the stripes. Looked good in the black one though.

I loved the scene when Mr. 9 wide came up to him. He he said to Bobby something like "I would like to thank you" I almost died. Just knowing that the guy WAS interested. I bet Bobby couldn't wait to show him that badge to end it. Nice light-hearted moment that hadn't been seen in a very long time.

This isn't the first time Goren has directed someone wielding a gun away from Eames (and in this case, children) and at himself.

I know this ep was shot before their big blow up, but I'm wondering if Eames remembers at all that Bobby has saved her ass more than once too. Or is she just resentful and envious of his chivalary and his ability to talk down a lunatic? I'm betting the second option.

Overall, not a particularly memorable episode. I want them to get back to the angst too...

I thought this episode was all right. I had high hopes for it, so maybe that’s why it didn’t deliver like I was expecting. I have no complaints with anyone’s acting, and for the first time this season, I have no problem with what any of the characters did or said. My only complaint is that the story itself seemed to lack the CI depth.

Once again, I immediately knew who the bad guy (woman) was. In every episode since the strike the perp has been obvious and I had them pegged, usually, by the first commercial set. I guess I was expecting a more multifaceted story line. Grandma was a mean, nasty, *#$! and the daughter in law was a desperate pleaser. I knew one of them did it and since Granny was so concerned with what was appropriate behavior and appearances I figured it wasn’t her. Then, when Bobby noted she couldn’t be far from her personal toilet I knew it wasn’t her.

A few things I not only liked, but LOVED in this episode:
1) No confrontation within the department. No one was edgy, pouting, or pissing matches. THANK GOD!
2) Eames and Goren working as a team, not just as two people on a team.
3) They were funny! A couple things struck me as funny. When Eames setting up Goren on Craig’s list and calling him Big Foot. Also funny, was Goren noticing Granny had to go the bathroom when she was squirming all around.

Nope. But that is the conventional wisdom and it was a sex trolling ad. Not someone looking for love, someone looking sex without strings. It would be like a woman writing an ad saying, "Flatchested and married looking for meaningless sex". It might be the truth, but it's not how you'd advertise yourself, yanno? You mention things that you think will attract what you're looking for. "Athletic and sexy looking for NSA fun with same."

That was my point.
chloe424
Gatepromise, just to comment on your observation about Bobby redirecting a perp holding a gun,
someone on another board brought up a good point. You have about 8-10 toddlers in a room. You need to get them up quickly and quietly and get them to follow you, just as quickly and just as quietly out of the room to safety. Of the two of them, who do you think those kids are more likely to follow unquestioningly?...The big scary dude or the chick who looks like a soccer mom?

Once Eames gets those kids out of the room, she has to stay with them until back-up arrives. If Marla shoots Bobby, she could shoot the two teachers and then the kids.

One of the main criticisms I have about this episode is the unoriginal ending. It was simply a redoux of Siren Call and that other episode where Bobby was in a hostage situation in a motel with a man and his kid(s). I understand that there was a writer's strike, but it's like they're quilting together bits and pieces of old scripts, or scripts which they've borrowed from SVU or the mothership.

Well I see where you're coming from, but I'm not there yet. That's always the danger when a show stays around for years. I think LOCI has found a pretty good balance keeping fans happy with the stuff that made them fans in the first place and going in new directions so they aren't just repeating themselves. I love a good "gotcha" aria as much as the next fan, but I'm also really interested in the character driven stories they are starting to tell.

I know Vincent has talked about pulling Goren in partially to keep from repeating himself too much. He's so good at what he does that he's entertaining whether he's playing it big or quiet. But if I could have one wish, it would be that he bring a little more of that animation and physicality back to his portayal of Goren. It's just so much fun when he does.

AMEN Everyone refers to the quirky genius but I haven't him lately. That is what the character of Goren is known for. It seems odd not to have it there and makes the show kinda "sameold sameold."
I want the old kooky Goren back

someone on another board brought up a good point.
If Marla shoots Bobby, she could shoot the two teachers and then the kids.0

Oddly enough, kids have never reacted to Goren like he's a big scary dude. They have always responded to him like he's a big teddy bear, someone who will protect them, someone they feel safe with. Kids are never afraid of him--bad guys are, but not kids. Their instincts are right on.
Whoever was with the kids would get them off the premises, not hang around with them to be shot if Bobby failed to talk down the psycho.
Bobby put himself in danger, once again, while Eames did the girly thing. I'm sure she's forgotten that completely while she stews about how she's "lied for him and covered his ass..."

In the new TV Guide article about Bobby, VDO remarks that he doesn't want Goren to be so weird that he wouldn't be allowed to be a cop. They may feel that they let him get a little too much out of hand and now have to reel him back in a bit. I'm sure we'll have more of his quirks back--just not all of them, all at the same time.

You're right, Goren is good with little kids. He's also good with psychos. He's the one with all the experience handling them and the background in profiling. Of course he'd be the one to go in. He's the one with the best chance at a positive outcome.

As for Eames doing the girly thing... you are seeing her through some very different glasses then I ever have my friend.

I hadn't seen her as girly, not to mention whiney and insecure, until her histronics in Purgatory.
Friend.

I watched an awful lot of Law and Order, in its' various incarnations, this weekend. Olivia's great, very feminine, compassionate and strong. I love Barack, because she's streetwise and has her own contacts. I like Wheeler too--she has a sweetness about her that tempers her smart mouth. There's others I like too, but in comparison to all of them, Eames just doesn't measure up. I hate the way she's written--about as interesting and unique and three dimensional as jello. This new ep just reminded me of it all over again.

Yes, saving hostages and leading a backup team to stand by in case things escalate for Bobby is so girly I'm surprised most women don't do it every month. laugh.gif

ValleyOfTheShadow
How was the new episode? Good, bad, so-so?

Haven't watched it, though I did get off early enough to watch it, but totally forgot about LOCI.
