Yes I agree that the title refers to prominent pre-schools in New York City where you need a recommendation from someone very famous and a letter from Kissinger would be quite the coup-many times movies and TV shows make jokes about getting your child in an exclusive pre-school even before they're born-

Now as far as Bobby's looks go, OK, I'll take clean shave, stubble, full beard, anything-
But pleaseeeeeeeeeeee is you are going to cut off those gorgeous curls, then auction them off for charity indeed-
How could you possible sweep them away into the garbage-
Forget black T-shirts on e bay, put Vincent's curls on and see what happens-
Regi.

Lol-ing...out loud, as Monk would say. Funny, but truly sad. Some of the greatest minds and people in the world didn't go to the best schools...George Washington Carver (who invented peanut butter, among many other things), Ronald Reagan, Einstein, Gerald Ford......and some who did turned out to be real putzes....

Oh ya... now that's a gramma... excuse me... grandmother who wouldn't see anything wrong with a Kissinger recommendation for preschool.

For the record... I don't live in trailer park and I still eat cream of wheat for breakfast in the winter. How dare she impugn the class level of my favorite breakfast food! Witch! It's not like she was feeding him Frosted Flakes!!!

I think it's pretty hilarious... just the idea that a preschooler would need a Kissinger recommendation for anything. Hmm... so how many toddlers do you think he knows personally?

And the idea that a school would get so many recommendations from him that they'd have to shut it down... I'm picturing Kissinger with his own little baby-blessing cottage industry.... "Vell, only $10,000 but zay did throw in ze 50 room cottage on Matha's Vineyard so... leetle Timmy gets zee recommendation."

The whole title just cracked me up when I read it.

ROTFLMHO.....right now I've got a mental pic of John Belushi doing his Kissinger impression.....hilarious, pfchristine!

Waaaiit, Henry Kissinger. Of course, he was a head on Futurama. If I'm not mistaken.

I'm not making that up.

you're right, he was a head on "Futurama".....and so was Nixon.
Now I'm really getting mental pics of Belushi and Ackroyd on SNL!

Good point there, though I'd knock Reagan off that list and Ford went to Yale Law School. But we could tack Ghandi and Martin Luther King up in their spots.

I think they were grits, not cream of wheat/farina. Hence the trailer park, aka white trash southern reference. wink.gif

And for the record, I'm a northerner who adores grits.

No, my eyes aren't that good. It was the reference to the south (ie trailer park, Marla's accent etc..) Grits are a staple down there. Also, on a few other sites, the assumption was grits. Especially from the posters who live in the southern states.

Ah, ok. I assumed the other way, probably because I grew up in NY and didn't know anyone who ate grits when I was a kid. These days, with people moving around so much maybe that's changed. If I'd picked up on the young mother having an accent I might have thought otherwise, but I guess I'm with Jeff Foxworthy in my belief that the "gloriously unsophisticated" live everywhere... not just the south. Maybe I've just been down here long enough now that I don't particularly notice the accent.

But then I can't think why a snooty grandmother would have an opinion about cream of wheat, while she might have had one about grits, so maybe you're right. (Not saying her objection has any merit, just that it's a brand of snobby stupidity with which we are familiar)

As for me, now I live in the south and have a healthy appreciation for the bond between the southerner and the grit. Luckily, this undercover Yankee can still find cream of wheat at the Harris Teeter up on the top shelf. The only way I like grits is in Shrimp and Grits. Now that's yummy, but not breakfast food.

As a born & bred New Yorker myself, I was introduced to grits as a child, visiting my Nana in Florida. Denny's down there had grits & it was love at first bite! biggrin.gif

BTW, this thread was almost at the bottom of the page. I know I'm not alone in saying that I cannot wait until this airs tomorrow evening.

Anyone else concerned about the continuity problems? This episode comes to us with a lot of baggage. It has to make sense re: continuity, which seems impossible since it was taped way before "Purgatory" and "Betrayed." Not just in terms of Goren's beard. but as to the Goren/Eames relationship. Meaning that there can't be shown the continued rebuilding of their partnership if this was taped before their blow up even occurred, right?

And there's the fact that this episode was taped right before the looming writers strike. The weather was freezing cold, so that's a bit off from the spring attire of the past few eps. And the editing & post production work was done during the beginning days of the strike. I wonder if it will show, for better or for worst?

I think we all need to take copious notes on this one. biggrin.gif

I definitely think the continuity will suffer even though I'm happy to see any new G/E episode. Obviously they have to air the episode sometime and it will be out of place no matter when they air it. Even without the difference in the weather and the strained relationship between G/E, VDO appears to be losing weight so the sooner they air it the less obvious that continuity problem would be.

It's too bad that we won't get an update tomorrow night on how G/E are working out their relationship problem. I thought Bobby's "Your right" comment was so lame but also so sweet because it showed how much he really took Eames' outburst to heart and he's trying his best to fix it. As for Eames, IMO she is finding it hard to maintain her "mad" with him because she missed him terribly while he was suspended and she can see that he is trying. When the attendant at the spa asked him to leave the display items alone, Eames had trouble keeping a straight face. It reminded her that, despite recent events, deep down he is still the same quirky, endearingly unique Bobby that she has always enjoyed working with. I'm anxious to see them work things out. Two more weeks! Ugh!!!

the first thing I thought when I saw the preview was: oh cool, maybe we'll get another "fake couple" scene like the "we need the perfect carpet for the playroom" or "Max! Play nice!". I just love it when they do that, it's too funny smile.gif

Yea, I see that, but I think it'll only bug few of us for this weekend only. After that it'll just become one of those stand alone episodes where you don't remember or particularly care where it fits in the timeline. If you like, pretend you're looking back in time to just before Untethered.

I really liked this way of looking at it. "Your right" was lame, but it was supposed to be. Brilliant Bobby is absolutely helpless when it comes to certain kinds of interpersonal issues. Eames didn't react much but that and all the other little things he does make it impossible for her to stay mad at him. I hadn't looked at it that way before but I like it. It plays.

SVU did this too, and while those that are really into the show know it...it was still a good show.

"Shaherazade" (spelling?)....was filmed at the end of season 7 (meant to air at the beginning of season 8) with a very pregnant Mariska Hargitay. (of course they tried to hide the pregnancy, but you could tell by her face, etc). However, they did not air this episode until mid-season 8...after Benson was supposed to have been gone for a few months undercover. If my memory serves me, Benson comes back, longer hair, thinner (post-baby)...and she and Stabler's working relationship is rocky at first when she comes back. Shaherazade shows in the next episode, with Benson still with her season 7 look, and none of the personal stuff...the undercover stint...the tension in their relationship... It was just a decent show, not continuous...but a good show on it's own. The next episode after that starts to resolve the season 8 issues again.

Sorry about all the quoting, but I'm trying to keep things straight for my own benefit.
I watched that spoiler again....and I'm hoping that in the epi the kid throws some of his breakfast at Queenie--that would be priceless! I don't care if he's eating Frosted Flakes, Cream of Wheat, grits, cornmeal mush--would be fitting IMO. BTW, Bob Evans restaurants do sell cornmeal mush on their breakfast menu, sometime I will have to try it.
Anyway! Back to topic...
Will have to watch this carefully tomorrow night; I agree about the continuity concerns. I was under the impression that "Senseless" was the last epi filmed before the writer's strike and that no epis were kept back...makes me wonder the reason this one was held until now, believe TV Guide is where I saw this (perhaps The Vault can help out with this). But if I remember right, "One" had marked all through it January dates, and it was shown in October.
Just glad for a new epi---we're already 1/3 way through season 7B!

Senseless was the last one shown before the writer's strike. My understanding is that they had filmed Please Note and it was supposed to be the first one shown when they came back after the holidays. But the writer's strike happened and they didn't want to just show one episode and have nothing more, so they held this one.

As for the continuity--I don't think I'll be too bothered by it. There is the beard thing and we'll see how the weather looks as compared to Purgatory and Betrayed. But by the end of Betrayed I felt G/E were back in sync, at least on the job. So it won't bother me if there are no references to any rift in tonight's episode. I wouldn't even be surprised not to hear any more about it for the next few episodes. But then it sounds like they have more angst planned for the last G/E episode, so we'll see.

And Goddess--I just watched Pride and Prejudice last night and laughed at the "Goddess Divine" comment. laugh.gif Its been SO long since I've read the book, I think I need to read it again.

I dont' think that could have been it because that would have put Please Note right after Untethered which wouldn't work at all. I'm thinking it was meant to be aired later, but they filmed it out of sequence because it was the only complete script they had ready to go. I remember last winter everyone was using whatever they had so they wouldn't have to lay off the production crews.

Spoiler:
I saw another trailer that showed the arm of the perp olding the gun on Goren. It was definitely female wearing a cream colored sweater. I hope that doesn't end up giving the killer away before the plot does.
Firefall
Please Note was the last episode being filmed in Novemeber 2007 while the strike was going on, and it was originally the 11th episode until late April 2008 when they change it to Purgatory.

BTW: It's coming tonight! laugh.gif

I adore the "fake couple" scenes. They are some of my favorite episodes. I never thought about seeing that in tonights episode. I would be in heaven if that would happen. You can tell by my signature I love the "fake couple" scenes, right? Most of them are there. Undercover and dancing Bobby. My 2 favorite things about CI. biggrin.gif

I love the "fake couple" scenes too! We really haven't seen one of those for awhile, have we? It's about time we did.

I don't see Jeff's character dancing but that jmho. Bobby is the only one whose dancing will make me happy. biggrin.gif

I really don't care if Jeff's character dances or not. There is no way he can possibly compare to Bobby dancing!! I don't really care either if tonight's episode is out of order. I'm seriously in need of a Bobby fix....at least a new Bobby fix. I did have yesterday's marathon to watch, but I've seen those so many times already. They did show the episode.....sorry, I've forgotten the name.....where Alex has to testify and she has to admit that she wrote an unflattering letter to her superiors about Bobby. I ALWAYS get teary-eyed when I see that. You can just feel the hurt that Bobby must be feeling, even though he knows she doesn't feel the same way now. OMG, these old heartstrings can take that much pressure!!!!!

We haven't seen them "fake" undercover anything since 'Priveledge' in season 6. We need that, if only to deter from the issues they are having, well not in this episode but in episodes to come.

You are talking about 'In The Wee Small Hours'. I love that episode. One of my top 5 favorites. I could watch that over and over and never get tired of it. Poor Alex, I felt so bad for her and what she had to do. sad.gif

I love it too! I think Katie did a fantastic job as far as portraying the emotions Alex was dealing with. I know she really enjoyed that episode too, because it really gave her a meatier portrayal than she's used to doing. Meatier......not a very good word, huh? You know what I mean.

Yes I know what you mean. Actually Kathryn talked about it on the character insights yesterday while the episode was on. She said she loved doing that part of the episode and it was something different for her to wrap her acting skills around. Not exact words but it was something like that. smile.gif

Oh, I must have walked away from the TV when that was on. She sure did the episode justice. They need to give her more opportunities like that.

Now I'm really confused! I just checked the CTV website to make sure they were showing Please Note.... On Thursday, and they are not! Instead they claim to be showing Vanishing Act, so now i'm confused, cause isn't Vanishing Act not the next episode either, Isn't it still 2 weeks away?

AAAAAAAA!!! I'm just one very confused person!
JazzUp
I was confused, either. I thought Cougar was Vanishing Act

Hey! Them's fightin' words around here! laugh.gif
Did you see the Purgatory thread? We had about 75 pages on that one before it ever aired.

What can I say? We get antsy sittin around waiting for our new eppys. What else are we gonna do but post endlessly about continuity and grits? (I'm including myself in that... lol)

Two and a half hours... (drumming of fingers) This SVU marathon ain't doin it for me.

Did you ever take the words right out of my mouth!! I've been watching SVU on and off all afternoon trying to psych myself into thinking it's THAT Law and Order, but IT SURE ISN'T!!!!!

And as far as the pages we've filled before the episode airs, just imagine what we can do after it airs!!

AMEN --- And these are Elliott and Olivia epis, which IMHO makes it worse - now, Fin and Munch, I could live with --

And what was with the CI marathons in June, where they'd run 6 CI episodes, and then SVU leading up to the new Ci epi?? What, they have an agreement where they have to give them equal time? If they do, CI is coming out on the short end of THAT stick !!!!
