Now as you know. the WWE may have had some big ratings on TV, but their PPV's have been terrible, especially since some of them are good like in 2005, but to me, the WWE has had like too many PPV's ever since 2004, but back in 2003, they started having Brand Only PPV's beginning w/2003, but in 2007, beginning w/Backlash, the WWE has decided to dump their Brand Only PPV.
Plus most of their PPV's have had terrible buyrates, for thos of you that do care about the buyrates.
More on that when I got to it.
2004, the WWE had 14 PPV's, 15 PPV's in 2005 and 16 PPV's in 2006 which is a complete overkill.
But in 2007, they decresed it to 15 PPV's and this year, they decresed it to 14 PPV's.
But let's take you back to 2003 when the WWE started having Brand Only PPV's beginning w/Bad Blood which replaced King of the Ring:
and here were the brand only PPV's of 2003:
RAW had Bad Blood & Unfrogiven while SD! had No Mercy, but in 2003, RAW had Armageddon which many people considered the WORST Armageddon EVER and as for SD! they had Vengeance which became the highest selling SD! PPV of that year.
Now, 2004, the WWE added 2 more PPV's to make it 14:
They brought back the NWA and WCW PPV The Great American Bash and the 1st ever Interactive PPV Taboo Tuesday, plus Vengeance and Armageddon switched brands Vengeance from SD! to RAW and Armageddon from RAW to SD!
and here's the list of them:
Royal Rumble XVII
No Way Out (SD!) 3 weeks later
Wrestlemania XX 4 weeks later
Backlash (RAW) 5 weeks later
Judgment Day (SD!) 4 weeks later
Bad Blood (RAW) 4 weeks later
The Great American Bash (SD!) 2 weeks later
Vengeance (RAW) 2 weeks later
Summerslam XVII 5 weeks later
Unforgiven (RAW) 4 weeks later
No Mercy (SD!) 3 weeks later
Taboo Tuesday (RAW) 16 days later
Survivor Series XVIII 26 days later
Armageddon (SD!) 4 weeks later
In 2005, the WWE incresed their PPV's to 15, and they also dumped Bad Blood in favor of One Night Stand and they also added New Year's Revolution.
here's the list:
New Year's Revolution (RAW) 4 weeks after Armageddon 2004
Royal Rumble XVIII 3 week later
No Way Out (SD!) 3 weeks later
Wrestlemania 21 6 weeks later
Backlash (RAW) 4 weeks later
Judgment Day (SD!) 3 weeks later
ECW One Night Stand 3 weeks later
Vengeance (RAW) 2 weeks later
The Great American Bash (SD!) 4 weeks later on Torrie Wilson's Birthday
Summerslam XVIII 4 weeks later
Unforgiven (RAW) 4 weeks later
No Mercy (SD!) 3 weeks later
Taboo Tuesday (RAW) 30 days later
Survivor Series XIX 26 days later
Armageddon (SD!) 3 weeks later
However, in 2006, the WWE had incresed to 16 PPV's which was not only an overkill, but it also had too many bad buyrates for most of them, plus Taboo Tuesday was renamed Cyber Sunday
and here they are:
New Year's Revolution (RAW) 3 weeks after Armageddon 2005
Royal Rumble XIX (WWE) 3 weeks later
No Way Out (SD!) 3 weeks later
Wrestlemania 22 (WWE) 6 weeks later
Backlash (RAW) 4 weeks later
Judgment Day (SD!) 3 weeks later
ECW One Night Stand II 3 weeks later
Vengeance (RAW) 2 weeks later
The Great American Bash (SD!) 4 weeks later
Summerslam XIX (WWE) 4 weeks later
Unforgiven (RAW) 4 weeks later
No Mercy (SD!) 4 weeks later
Cyber Sunday (RAW) 4 weeks later
Survivor Series XX (WWE) 3 weeks later
December to Dismember (ECW) a week later
Armageddon (SD!) 2 weeks later
Now in 2007, the WWE had decreased their PPV's to 15 dumping ECW December to Dismember
and here is the list:
New Year's Revolution (RAW) 3 weeks after Armageddon 2006
Royal Rumble XX (WWE) 3 weeks later
No Way Out (SD!) 3 weeks later
Wrestlemania 23 (WWE) 6 weeks later
However, after Wrestlemania 23, the WWE dumped Barnd PPV's only b/c of the terrible buyrates of New Year's Revolution and No Way Out as well as ECW December to Dismember, the WWE went back to doing PPV's this time, ECW added to the mix w/RAW & SD!
Backlash 4 weeks later
Judgment Day 3 weeks later
WWE One Night Stand III 2 weeks later
Vengeance: Night of Champions 3 weeks later
The Great American Bash 4 weeks later
Summerslam XX 5 weeks later
Unforgiven 3 weeks later
No Mercy 3 weeks later
Cyber Sunday 3 weeks later
Survivor Series 21 3 weeks later
Armageddon 4 weeks later
and now, in 2008, the WWE has decreased by 14 PPV's dumping New Year's Revolution and Vengeance was ranamed the Night of Champions
and here they are:
Royal Rumble 21 6 weeks after Armageddon
No Way Out 3 weeks later
Wrestlemania 24 6 weeks later
Backlash 4 weeks later
Judgment Day 3 weeks
One Night Stand IV 2 weeks later
Night of Champions II 4 weeks later
The Great American Bash 3 weeks later
Summerslam 21 4 weeks later
Unforgiven 3 weeks later
No Mercy 4 weeks later
Cyber Sunday 3 weeks later
Survivor Series 22 4 weeks later
Armageddon 4 weeks later
and so, there you have it folks, the list of WWE PPV's from 2004-2008 including the Brand Only PPV's from 2003.
and also, ever since this year, the WWE I-C Heavyweight Title and Women's Title haven't been defended much on PPV's these days, and neither has the SD! World Tag Team Titles, and so, my question to you all is this:
How many WWE PPVs should there be and which should they be?
and also, how should the WWE improve on their PPVs?
That's the Question!
Please share your thoughts on all of this.
