I think it's probably true. Chris is headed for pastures new. Whatever he does, I'll watch him smile.gif

Jeff Goldblum on the other hand? hmmm not so much.
cluck73
Jeff Goldblum? That is very interesting. He had a detective show on NBC a few years back where he saw dead people and they helped him solve cases. He was quirky and unorthdox and I thought the network was creating a new Goren. So, maybe they will bring him on and he will be similar to Goren? Then Goren wouldn't be so stigmatized as being different.

I agree. I'm not a Jeff Goldblum fan. I actually like Logan so it will be sad to see Chris go.

I like the show Jeff did, it was interesting, he was quirky over the top Monkish

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out. As long as neither Vincent nor Katherine are leaving, I'll deal with it. I liked Chris' episodes well enough so I'm sorry to see him go. I have to admit I'm not very familiar with Jeff Goldblum. I don't watch much TV except for LOCI and I rarely watch movies anywhere but in a theatre, so I haven't seen much of his work. Wikipedia says he "often portrays quirky, intense or eccentric characters". In that case, he should feel right at home sharing with Vincent. However, if they are going to script his character as quirky, I hope they don't try to compete with or duplicate Bobby. He is one of a kind!
tobo86
I said this in another thread: Bye, Bye don't let the door hit you in the bum.

Also- Michael Raines (Jeff Goldblum) would be a great addition to LO:CI (minus the seeing dead people). Jeff is sexy!! Maybe his and Eame's PTSD and Goren's borderline clinical depression would make for interesting backstories.

So it's true? Chris is leaving. That makes me really, really sad. sad.gif

I agree with that. Quirky is Bobby's domain! Make him totally different.

Chris Noth has done really well with Sex in the City movie, and I heard there could be a sequel, on The View by Sarah Jessica Parker, but nothing said for sure. I really hate to think it could have been Wheeler since the new baby, but that's what make's it exciting to watch and see!
mcllwain71
Hi,
i have never seen Jeff Goldblum in that detective show,
but i canīt see him as an cop.
I liked him in Independence day.
Most important for me is Vincent is not leaving

Hi mcllwain71 and welcome aboard! I said this in another topic, I love Don Johnson! I guess Bubba rubbed off on me! LOL!

Jeff Goldblum? Pass.

Hi Bubba here, I'm going to miss him if he leaves. I really liked the Logan character.

Hey Valley, what would you think if it was David James Elliot?
MsSweden
Another actor change in the "other" LOCI series? Jeff Goldblum! And Wheeler?!!!? Why not just stick a fork in it and say "done."

Can't VDO and Erbe do 16 episodes next season? Pretty please!!!

xymox
Looks like it's confirmed.

I would be more impressed with this "rumor" if they had some of their facts straight. This is the 3rd season that Noth has been a regular on LOCI. When he left L&O, he did not "return", he did one L&O movie. I'm filing this under RUMORS ONLY until I see something legitimate.
cluck73
He wasn't with LOCI for five seasons....

It has been confirmed by Variety

And it's just Noth who's leaving.
jcsavestheday
Nooooo. Still don't believe it. In denail.
Quaxo
Oh god... I didn't want to read this thread but it kept TAUNTING me. Nooo... not when I was starting to lub you Mike! Variety's a pretty legit publication... and Noth has two hits now with Sex in the City, he could be transferring over to the Hollywood scene... sad.gif

Jeff Goldblum though... interesting... I really really hope they don't try to create a knock-off Bobby, it didn't work with Barek and it's not going to work now.

Who will wear those awful plaid ties now?
LoganLuvr
I'm gonna miss you Mikey! I just hope they DON'T kill the character off sad.gif

Chris Noth is an awesome actor and I look forward to seeing him in his future projects.

I couldn't agree with you more. Did not like Chris Noth, so now I can watch L&O:CI every week instead of every other week! I think Jeff Goldblum will be a great addition to the show.
cat lady
I like Jeff I think he is an excellent actor, he can do comedy or be serios, and I'm sure Dick Wolf would not have chosen him if he thought he couldn't add to the show, in the article Wolf says ''Jeff's presence will add a new dimension to an already successful show''. I doubt if Wolf will grieve losing Noth they seem to have a bad relationship, even Noth said as much in his latest interview, he felt Wolf cared more for the show than the actors, and maybe he does but it's his show and if Noth wants out why stand in his way. As long as Vince and Kate are on board so am I, they leave, I leave, there is no C.I. without Goren and Eames.

I am new to this forum, but I thing Goldblum will be agood additon. I will miss Chris Noth. Just hope VDO doesn't leave

I tried watching that show Raines a couple of seasons ago. It was AWFUL. I think it lasted all of one episode. He was a Monk-Goren wannabe. So unwatchable.

Poor Julianne Nicholson.

What are the writers thinking?

Lets see what the writers have in store for him. I don't know if he is reprising his role from Raines. He might me a whole new character. Maybe someone for Ross to pick on. smile.gif

I am gone for 3 hours and I come back to this. blink.gif

Do we still get Mikey to clean the Swiss pool? I am saddened by this news. Just when I was starting to love Mikey so much, he's leaving. Jeff Goldblum, eh he's ok but not like Chris Noth. ::sobs uncontrollably::
FusseKat
And I just received my D'Onofrio/Noth Vote for Both pin in the mail today!!!! Oh well, I guess it's truly a collectible now! LOL!!!!

I've always liked Noth and the Logan character, although I haven't always thought either blended well into CI world, I'll still miss him on the show.

I do wish Noth well....
krodgers
sad.gif Please say it ain't so? I liked Logan, he's an asset to LOCI, IMO.
Firefall
I mentioned somewhere else that I love his character, Logan, is one of the longest detectives in Law and Order; I like his style: Goren is the sherlock, Eames is the watson, Ross is something, Wheeler is the down-earth girl, and Logan is the rough neck. It will be interesting to see how Jeff Goldbulm will be in CI...seeing his character in NBC's former show, Raines, I think we might get another Goren for this show---guess season 8 will shade season 1-4; all we need to fit this show is another ADA.

And speaking of ADA's, Wolf confirmed not only about Goldblum's arrival but SVU's newest ADA, Michelea McManus.

I will miss Logan/North!!!!!

Probably, Jeff Goldblum, good actor, liked him in Jurassic Park, and he wants to be in television now*. Good bet.

*I'm basing that on his brief stint in Raines.

Brief is the right word. Cancelled after one episode I believe.

I thought for sure that the next show he would be on would be Dancing with The Stars.
cluck73
I have a very positive feeling about this. Goldblum is a good actor and we have no idea what kind of character they will create for him. I'm kinda' excited! biggrin.gif Lets think positive everyone and welcome him to our show!

It was a season, a very short season but I liked 'Raines'. It was a good show. One of those crime dramas with a twist to it. That kinda thing interest me.

I will miss Noth but I do like Jeff Goldblum. It'll be interesting to see what he brings to CI. Just my 2Ē.

I for one would like to thank Chris Noth for coming on board when he did and saving the show.

Best wishes to him as he pursues his career in California.

What a year for him, new baby, huge movie, major career move leaving the show. I wish him the best.
Enaka
Please, don't tell me this 7th season is Chris' last one? sad.gif

I like Jeff Goldblum, but... I am used to Chris Noth's character in the show since 5th season sad.gif

Like HB, I want to say thanks to Chris Noth for keeping the LOCI show longer along with VDO. May he walk on the road of success as he moves on with his life, family and career.

I am going to miss you, Chris! sad.gif

From the writers (email came to me at 7 pm Eastern time this evening)

"Chris Noth will be replaced by Jeff Goldblum for Season 8. We'll have additional news [for you] in the morning."

Sorry to see Chris going but... Yay! Jeff Goldblum! Good call!

Goldblum happens to be a good friend of one of my writer strike buds (an actor who does theater out in Los Angeles). So I feel like 'extended family' is joining Team CI.

My heartfelt condolences to Logan fans. I liked Logan best on the mothership and stopped watching mothership episodes he wasn't in, because my heart was no longer in the original L&O show. When I heard Chris was coming to do CI to give VDO a break I was so very happy about that. I will miss Logan of course but I am intrigued by what Jeff Goldblum will bring to the table

My condolences also to the Logan fans too. A group of us working nightshift at the hospital were fans of the mothership and really enjoyed Logan there. Will miss Mike Logan, am interested to see what happens in Season 8.

I liked Raines a lot. And I suspect Jeff will play a quirky guy, but that doesn't mean he'll be a Goren-ripoff. I trust Jeff to give us his own brand of quirky and drive Wheeler and Ross crazy. I think he will be a great addition to the show. I just hope I'm done mourning the loss of Logan by the time Jeff's first episode airs.

Welcome to the forum. It's a good time to join. Lots of excitement and subjects to talk about with new episodes and so many changes. Glad you decided to jump in.
angelicacharmer
I'm totally not surprised that Chris left the show. He has been "hinting" in interviews that working on Law and Order CI has kept him away from his son and of course recently that he has gone as far as he can go with his Mike Logan character. So when I read the announcement this afternoon I thought I would have to find another show to watch since I'm not really a Goren fan. However, upon further reading that Jeff Goldblum is taking on a role I might reconsider. He is a good character actor and he can play very quirky characters. He has probably been around for as long as Chris Noth. He might just "add a new dimension" to the series.
VDOfan0707
I'm glad Jeff Goldblum has decide to join the LO:CI team. He can be quirky and "ripped from the headlines" while Mr. D'Onofrio can be both human and supersleuth. But if Vincent D'Onofrio leaves, I'm done with LO:CI. I've got respect for Katherine Erbe but Mr. D'Onofrio is why I watch. Surely, he's got time to film 8 episodes so I don't have to wait for "The Narrows" in 2009 to see his work. Anyway, best of luck to Mr. Goldblum; sounds like a good vibe to me.
