Author's Notes: I truly stink at trying to write a story in 100 words or less. 500 words I can do. 100 words is impossible. LOL With that being said, here's just a little something I came up with. LO:CI and its characters belong to Dick Wolf and company; I'm just borrowing them for a while. Read and enjoy (I hope). smile.gif

Bobby laid there in the dark, staring up at the bedroom ceiling, his hands behind his head. Sleep was eluding him once again. It had been ever since he got suspended. He reflected on how everything in his life had gone downhill since the death of his mother and her deathbed revelation that his real father might be a serial killer. He sighed heavily as he thought about how his life had turned out. As he laid there thinking, a prayer he had learned as a child crept unbidden into his mind.

“Now I lay me down to sleep,” Bobby mentally scoffed. “HA! Sleep?! What is that?” he thought.

“I pray thee, Lord, my soul to keep.” “Soul? What soul do I have? If Mark Ford Brady is my real father, then I have no soul.”

“If I should die before I wake,” “There goes that silly concept of sleep again,” he sarcastically thought.

“I pray thee, Lord, my soul to take.” “He wouldn’t take my soul even if it wasn’t tainted.”

Bobby was surprised when a yawn escaped from his mouth, a sign that sleep was finally coming. He yawned again as he turned to lay on his side. As Bobby drifted off to sleep, a tiny voice in the back of his mind said, “Kid, you are so wrong. I wish there more souls like yours in this world.”

Hey a little surprised to see your name pop up. Cool. Was it 100 words I didn't count. Oh just in case you don't know who this is it's Mary T I thought I'd be creative and come up with a new penname original huh. Later

Very good. The last line says it all, doesn't mater who his father is.

Oh, wow! This one is beautiful! So well written, so very "Bobby", such a beautiful ending.......*sigh*

Thanks for trying this and sharing what you came up with. I really like it a lot.

Thank you Bubba, flashymom, Jryan and Mary58 for your reviews. *waves hi frantically at Mary58* Yeah, I'm over here from time to time. No, this story isn't 100 words. Including the notes, I think it's around 300. I can be brief, but not that brief. LOL.
GraveDigger720
I really like this story. Melancholy and angsty, but hopeful and sweet at the end. Very touching.
FusseKat
Very eloquent. I liked this a lot.
