ok so i heard that he passed away last week, may he RIP. Now when i saw a pic of him the other night when he was on tv talking about his death, i said he looks familiar. I know i've seen him somewhere before. When i was little, i used to watch PBS, i lvoed Arthur, Barney, Mr. Rogers even. and then there was this one show, and i swear i cannot remember for the life of me, what it was. i know that he was on there. He had to have been. He was a conductor or something. The show would take place in a train station. Anyone know what im talking about. I have been thinking about it forever, and when i heard that Mr. carlin died, i was like oh wow! so someone please help this poor chick out! lol thanks!

Hi - this caught my attention since I LOVE George Carlin. He will be sorely missed. George Carlin was Mr. Conductor on Shining Time Station, having replaced Ringo Starr.

He also had a part in the Streets of Laredo, the final chapter of the Lonesome Dove mini-series, which he was excellent in.

You're very welcome. Glad to help. biggrin.gif My son used to love Mr. Conductor and when he heard George Carlin passed away, he said he'd love to find the show on DVD too for when he has kids of his own. I may head over to Amazon to see if I can buy them myself.

I was a bad girl today, Bubba - I bought a compilation of George Carlin's work on DVD called "A Place for His Stuff" at Amazon (I figured it was a late b-day present). Now that I'm thinking of Shining Time Station, I just have to look for it. I hope I can find it - definitely would be a collector's item.

You might want to try e-bay as well. Pay attention to the fine print; make sure it says that the quallity is good.

Amazon only has VHS tapes and most are Ringo Starr related. Thanks, I always forget about E-Bay.

I've been hooked on being the occasional E-Bay shopper ever since I found and bought a whole series of books (The, "Spellsinger" series by Allan Dean Foster) and a few choice vintage games. Sometimes you gotta play Pac-Man or Defender with a root beer float.

My problem is that once I start shopping at E-Bay (or Amazon) I find it very hard to stop. I try to 'forget' they exist until I'm in search of something. PayPal sends me reminders when they haven't seen me in a while. wink.gif

Thanks for the link - I'm glad I was able to help you out. I know how it is when you KNOW you KNOW something and people think you're crazy. I love being able to prove I was right when that happens.

I've seen that show before, but I had no idea that George Carlin started out in Ringo Starr's "place". Interesting! I wasn't a "huge" fan of George Carlin, but my husband really, really liked him. I'm a Jerry Seinfeld fanatic, so when I saw that he was being interviewed by Larry King last week, I was shocked and saddened to see that he was commenting on George's death. I knew George had been ill and had had health problems, but the ironic thing was that I was in Vegas until yesterday, and George had just performed at the Orleans Hotel the week before.
