Why don't we, fans, pay for the next season of 4400, indirectly we do anyway, so why not directly. Raise cash with donations or pre-buy DVD's of season 5 (at $50+ a box set, thats a lot of money!). Plus get at least some backing from the studios, perhaps 50/50 ratio (fans raise 50%, studio 50%), Get the TV Show's Writers, Executives, Actors, Directors etc, to raise/donate cash or how about helping finance it for perhaps a profit share, buy-in, etc. Whoever produces the DVD, what about helping to finance it?. There must be hundreds of ways to raise the cash for the next series or even a feature motion picture (as Firefly, Sex and the City, X-Files etc) Convention fund raisers, etc, the list goes on. How about us fans get off our arses (or asses in USA) and become PROACTIVE - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, DON'T LET THE STUDIO EXECUTIVES HAVE THE FINAL WORD!!!!
In fact I would personally like to see a number of Series/Seasons of other shows finished properly as well as movies of what I want to be made weather it be 100 sequels or prequels, so what?, if the money's provided by us, why not?, Why not reverse the process as exists today and start with the fans first, they foot the bill in the end anyway: Fans dictate what they want to see; then pay and raise the estimated budget; then it gets made and not the other way around?
Hopefully, someone in the right place gets to see this message, it's not impossible. Remember me though, it was my idea, I'd like to be involved in some way!

Hi Bubba here, it is an interesting idea. You would have to get the right numbers of backers though.

Stargate SG-1 actually tried this. They are doing two direct to DVD movies initially. The movies are basicly about the length of two TV episodes. The first one has already been released and sales for it appear to be pretty decent.
http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/2008/0SGAT-DVD.phpI can't verify that the info in this link is accurate but blog reports are reporting roughly the same. And this is U.S. DVD sales and does not include international sales or downloads from iTunes and Amazon.
I can't see why The 4400 couldn't have the same results.

...and Babylon 5 did it before, with The Lost Tales.

I'd be up for this (I even suggested it a while ago)
we could pool together little fundraisers, where we collect small donations from people who would be interested in financing such a project (but aren't necessarily fans). And if each of the 10,000-plus fans who signed the petition for season five donated a couple of dollars (and some enthusiastic fans such as myself would throw in much more than a couple) we could fund a small television project EASILY!
The televsion/cinema world is ruled by cash. One needs to prove he can get the dough before he can get the cameras. If we fund it ourselves, the network has no real reason to stop us (in fact, they'll help us do it, because they want the money!)
