Okay, get your search engines and youtube search fired up for this one:

Richard Cheese

He does lounge-lizard covers of popular songs like Gin and Juice, Creep, Welcome to the Jungle...

My friend Harvey found him and I just couldnt help laughing. Go check him out - he does enough stuff that SOMETHING should appeal to you from his catalog of cover songs.

Here's the thing - I have music that OTHER people may be embarrassed for me over, but if I bought the music then I like it. I am honestly trying to think about what music I have bought that is embarrassing now but truly there isn't any. It at least made sense at the time.

I have such an eclectic bunch of stuff. I will admit there is a Kingston Trio CD. Do you know who they are? My parents listened to it when I was small and one day I just wanted to hear it. Especially the sailing tunes like Jamaica Farewell and Sloop John B.

Mojo Nixon - gin Soaked Hillbilly with such songs as "Where the hells my money!", "Elvis is everywhere" and "I hate Banks!"

Found this guy when I was fourteen. He was hilarious. Then weird and maybe a little scary. But still, he's worth a listen.

Todd Snyder - You should find this guy and listen to his Seattle Grunge Blues bit, and then his cover of My Generation. And try to finish it off with "Alright guy" if you can. He's good.

Jeremy Fisher - I saw this guy on television playing for quarters in the street - two days before the international sale of his cd went through. He was witty and clever so I thought I should try the cd Blue Monday. Well worth it. The whole disk. He sounds a bit like paul simon. But there's some dylan similarities too. Has the greatest line "She runs guns, everyone wants guns. She runs guns everyone wants... There she go-oes!!" And that was a chorus of a love song.

I have every Monkee song recorded ... well, I'm not really embarrassed by that, I'm kinda proud. I also have Alvin and the Chipmonks and the Warner Bros. characters doing Beatles songs ... To tell the truth, I'm kinda proud of those, too.

Muppets singing Christmas songs with John Denver and Alan Jackson ...

An original soundtrack album (on vinyl) of Sesame Street that I bought when I turned 30 ...

"We Built This City" by Starship is on my iPod, in my car CD player and on my iTunes ... it's been given the dubious distinction of being the worst song of the Rock era ...

Going through my MP3 right now to see what strange music I had when I was twelve. I've had that baby forever!

"I've Got The Power"-Snap!

I Have Nearly Every Kelly Clarkson song ever recorded. (Except her new album 'cause I'm not very into her anymore.

Also, almost every Avril Lavigne song recorded. Not so bad, though. Still listen to her sometimes.

"Pon De Replay" and "S.O.S" by Rhianna. blink.gif

"Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin. Hey, I still kind alike that song. laugh.gif

"Rich Girl" by Gwen Stefani

"Getcha Head In The Game" from High School Musical rolleyes.gif

After that, I abandoned my MP3 for awhile, found it, and recorded songs that I like now. I'm a little cooler now than I was then. tongue.gif (Yeah right! wink.gif )

I still have a 45 record of Bert and Ernie singing "Rubber Duckie".

Rubber Duckie, you're the one,
You make bathtime lots of fun,
Rubber Duckie, I'm awfully fond of you;

Woo woo be doo

Rubber Duckie, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Duckie, you're my very best friend, it's true!

Doo doo doo doo, doo doo

Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby

Rub-a-dub-a-dubby!

Rubber Duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber Duckie, I'm awfully fond of you.

Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby

Rubber Duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber Duckie, I'm awfully fond of -
Rubber Duckie, I'd like a whole pond of -
Rubber Duckie I'm awfully fond of you!

Arlo Guthrie - Coming in to Los Angeles

(Pronounced Los An-gel-EES)

Words and Music by Arlo Guthrie

Coming in from London
From over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister Customs Man

There's a guy with a ticket to Mexico
No, he couldn't look much stranger
Walking in the hall with his things and all
Smiling, said he was the Lone Ranger

Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister Customs Man

Hip woman walking on a moving floor
Tripping on the escalator
There's a man in the line
And she's blowing his mind
Thinking that he's already made her

Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister Customs Man

Coming in from London
From over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister Customs Man

I love Arlo Guthrie.

P.S. - If I was making a mix tape I would put this one along side Steven Stills Tree Top Flyer.

Puff the Magic Dragon...I get emotional when he's mourning the loss of Jackie Paper and his scales are falling off. What a stupid kid, giving up a dragon?? Just because the kid grew up.

BTW, I *love* Rainbow Connection by Kermit.

What's the name of the song Gonzo sings with his balloons? That's another one I love.

I feel sooo left out here - I'm just not a big music listener but have a huge collection of 78, 45 and 33's from waaay back, like Al Jolson:

If you knew Suzie like I know Suzie, oh, oh oh what gal....

Anyone remember: Gonna dance with the dolly with the hole in her stockings while her knees keep a knocking and her toes keep a rocking, gonna dance with the dolly with the hole in her stockings, gonna dance by the light of the moon?

Boy, does that date me.......

I'm not necessarily ashamed of it---but beat this one, Monk.

I have an LP (vinyl) of Bert Reynolds singing. A friend of mine gave it to me for Xmas one time. Had told her that all I wanted for Xmas was Bert. This was in 1978, when he was still a fine looking specimen. The album came with an 11x14 poster of Bert wearing skin tight leather pants. I took the poster and taped it to the ceiling above my bed, so I looked at all that gorgeousness first thing every morning and the last thing every night. Ahhhh, sweet dreams then. biggrin.gif

I'm sorry Meme, I don't mean to laugh... Well, actually okay I do mean to laugh. But I can understand the appeal back in 1978. My little 80's crushes are quite pathetic by today's standards. LOL

Also, Hall and Oats "Rich Girl" (ahem, Natalie. "Rich Girl" by Hall and Oats and "Big Shot" by either Elton John or Billy Joel...I'm not sure on that one. Any whoozle. Bye.
